I would call the head that tripod comes with a levelling head (hence the 'L' designation maybe). Combined with a ball head or some other panning head it's good for things like panoramas etc.
Amazing help. After searching for a portable tripod professional enough and economical, nothing fit the requirements until you brought this out. Thank you thank you thank you. Perfect for what I need!!!
Been following you for a month and have spent thousands on products you have reviewed. Everything has been 100% accurate. This is strong lightweight tripod but the PRICE is wrong. They would crush the market if they lowered it to $69 or max $79 regular price without any promos and with all accessories. People will still be slow to spend $100plus on a table top tripod. This however could be used as an extremely lightweight and strong base for a light fixture with some added extension poles to give the light proper height. Just my opinion. Great review! Tell them to throw you some promo codes so people can try this thing out! Major love
I would love to see it at a lower price too. It’s $109 right now, with the current sale on Amazon. I didn’t think this was way outside the price of my favourite full size travel tripod, which is the Ulanzi Zero Y for $360. I think it would attract more buyers, if it was under $100.
I own several a really high quality 6+ foot high tripods. How good are they? Wouldn't know, they stay at home. The best tripod is the one you can be bothered to carry!
Yo, I'm gearing up for an epic adventure to Spain and eyeing this tripod to tag along. Already got a regular one, but man, my bag's turning into a mini gym with all the weight. What's cool about this one? It's as light as a feather! And if I need a bit of a boost, bam! Just prop it up on anything - a rock, a chair, even a table, and we're golden. Height ain't a biggie for me; it's all about that easy travel life. I've pretty much nailed my travel setup, and this tripod? It's the cherry on top. Can't wait to make it my travel buddy! ✈️ 🤙
The Move Shoot Move Z plate is my favorite head for that type of tripod. You get full range of motion and it is super small and light. Even with an arca swiss mount it's still way smaller than a ball head.
Mark, For an upcoming vacation trip, i went back and forth between this and a Gorillapod. I opted for the latter, due to being able to wrap the legs around a railing or pole. But i have two other Surui tripods and find them to be outstanding quality and durability.
I loved my gorilla pods, but the legs kept wearing out on me, and then wouldn’t hold their form. Almost lost a camera over a waterfall because of this. That was many years ago, hopefully they have improved the design since then.
You certainly gain some flexibility but I'm debating if to throw this or the Anker Nebula tripod in my bag which is also surprisingly sturdy and has a lot of flexibility in terms of adding additional height, hmmm - is this still your favourite travel tabletop tripod? do you use any others?
Would the GH5+Sigma 18-35 be too heavy to use this as a vlog camera? lmao yyes i know its not ideal cause of its weight but its the only lens I currently have. I was thinking this, am-35k, or am15k. Hard choices.
Great video! Can you please confirm whether this am-223L is a good option for astrophotography with a star tracker? I am looking to use it with a Sony a7iv and want a really compact tripod
thanks.. but table top tripods are only meant for indoor use for me.. landscape photography tripod needs more height.. I hope in the future there will be this small tripod with enough height like traditional tripod. I think gorilla pod has more functionality than this one and are much more cheaper
I loved my gorilla pods in the past, but they always wore out on me within a year, and would just fall over. Maybe they have fixed that issue now, I gave up on them after my 3rd, but still love the concept. The price of the 5k gorilla pod with head is $10 more than the SIRUI tripod’s current price.
Every tripod has a max usable lens focal length. Though you are singing its praises (not sure because it was given to you) it’s not the best for anything more than 100mm when extended. Its main purpose is as a ground pod without its legs extended
@@secondfirstsecond I would say so, but have not used it for that. The ones that I have seen advertised for that purpose, don't look as sturdy as this one. It really is strong and stable.
Unfortunately, buyers outside the US often get screwed on prices. It is a small tripod, that’s why it’s called a table top tripod. You used objects to get the rest of the height, ie table, rock, garbage can.
With the add-on column it gets up to 80cm at centre of lens. Funnily enough, I used it on top of rocks and garbage can last week. It does a great job. Tiny ball head but held the GFX50R and GF45 lens no problem. It fits in the water bottle pouch in my backpack 😊.
Sorry I came with the wrong expectation to this video, for whatever reason I thought this would be an ultra compact tripod that extend to somewhat normal high for a somewhat short normal tripod. Then again I'd be questioning the durability of such tripod legs to be able to extend that far out. Table tripods are useful to a niche of customers, but it's no universal thing for all kinds of people. Just like the hype with the gorillapod tripods were Thanks for the video 😎👍👍
Yea, this is really the tripod you take, when you don’t want to take a tripod. For me, that’s the key feature. As far as the legs being far out, I am genuinely shock at how strong this thing seems, it kind of defies logic. I still wouldn’t put the rated 35lbs on it, with the legs spread that wide, but it will handle every camera/lens combo I own, in every configuration.

Living for the past 40 years near EBC an always running everywhere alone. Really need all as light as possible.

Love the size and stability ... will definitely keep this one in mind!
Get the Sirui SL-200 to extend the length of the tripod.
This video was exactly what I needed, thanks!

Gorillapod does not stand the test of time. After some usage the pod joints become loose and the camera just sags and can't stay in place anymore.
I loved my gorilla pods, but the legs kept wearing out on me, and then wouldn’t hold their form. Almost lost a camera over a waterfall because of this. That was many years ago, hopefully they have improved the design since then.
@@gigihanmandarin Maybe that will happen with mine. It’s still near brand new.
Hopefully they have improved them. The company is under new ownership now too. So they may have fixed it.
Seems lightweight & good
*Benro 03C Tripod also good.

SUNWAYFOTO GH-PRO II + plus Geared Head..

So you shooting to 3 different cameras??
That's a nice little pod! Little pricey for me but pretty versatile and looks like good quality!
Can this handle my R8 + rf 14-35mm?
Yes, no problem.
Thank you

There's an extra center column for this, and there are trekking poles that can screw on as well.

Ps. I have the AM 223 version with ball head.
Did you inspect if flexing is existed when is is loaded?
Virtually no movement. I was actually surprised by this aspect.

Yikes-- pretty pricy. But it's high quality-- you should review a Smallrig/Ulanize travel tripod.. it's surprisingly pretty good!
The ulanzi is my main full-size travel tripod, and I love it, but it‘s 3 times the price and weight. It’s still small for a full size tripod.
@@markwiemels at a certain point. Tripods become an addiction
A table tripod does sound nice tho.
Great video mark as always.
