Also happy 4th of July to all my fellow Muricans out there. Which is probably the majority of you lol.
Finally! A straight forward explanation, that does not sound like a physics lecture on visocity! Thank you 😊
Thank you..most forgiving technique ever!
Thank you for this very straightforward and effective tutorial! The results definitely speak fir themselves, your tiger looks amazing!
It was fun to experiment on this Tiger as it’s mainly another test model I use. But that may change in the future. Thank you, I’m just as satisfied with the Tiger too. :-)
Really interesting concept/technique. Going to have to try this sometime. Your Tiger looks awesome!!! Happy 4th🇺🇸!
Thanks for sharing your method of making washes. This was very helpful.
No thank you for watching. I appreciate it. :)
Interesting technique! :)
Thank you very much!
You inspired Me to make my first model, It came out great!
Aw that’s sweet to hear. It’s awesome to hear it came out great. :)
Really nice tiger and thanks for the tip man!
AND
Happy 4th of July!!!
Thanks man and happy belated 4th to you as well. :)
@@Modkits131 thank you
Thanks to your advice my models look great :) (my best is Japanese sherman)
That’s cool to know I’ve somehow helped you with your Sherman model. Unique choice to make it Japanese as well. :-)
🤝👍
Nice and inspiring idea. Thank you for sharing. See you soon
Thanks man I’m grateful to hear that from you. :)
I like how you showed the different types of paints and brands with the Tamiya ones being the best. I usually use Vallejo paints, but maybe I should whip out the old Tamiya jars again! Do you have any recommendations for rust washes/streaking effects? I have attempted it with your method, and I can never get the colors right. Great video as always!
In this instance Tamiya worked out nicely for me, because I managed to get the mixing ratio just right. Vallejo and Citadel work just as well. For other acrylic based brands, I’m sure they’ll be very similar.
In the end it comes down to your preferred choice of paint brand. Whether you want a matte, glossy or satin wash for your models.
For a rust wash mix I recommend black, brown, red and yellow. These colors can provide a nice variety of rust tones. With only so little. :)
Wonderful looking Tiger, will there be a video about it? Even tho i now use both oil and enamel washes, this soap washes still is very useful and sometimes the best choice since its so easy to make and wash of the excess, especially when you are running out of enamel thinner. Also i couldn't not notice the background music, scratch the itch, AKA Night Shift theme? Great choice, looking forward for the next video.
As the Tiger model was a pre-built and pre-painted model from Dragon. Sadly no in this case. It’s only another test model for now.
Ha yeah that is Uncle Nightshift’s theme “scratch the itch” I did it in homage to his videos since I enjoy him using it. Also no copyright claim lol.
Sorry for the late reply. But I do have some great things planned for some upcoming videos. I am forever grateful for your support. :-)
Love your videos. In your German KV-1 video you mentioned that you had a discord. Is that still up because I could not join through the link under that video.
It’s better for now if you just DM me Modkits #2716. Only until I have too many comments to deal with lol.
Befor you use the wash you made? Do you put any kind of clear coat on befor using the wash?
Not always for my personal taste. But I would recommend adding a layer of varnish just to be safe.
Thank you
What about painting over this with a clear coat to seal it in? Won't the soap cause problems with the adhesion of the clear coat?
I’ve personally never had issues before. I’m always using water based acrylics.
@@Modkits131 good to know thanks
Would isopropyl alcohol work as well?
So.... would it?
It would. But be cautious, as too much rubbing alcohol could damage the paint if you’re not too careful.
@@Modkits131 alright, thanks man. Would it be a better option than soap due to the fact it evaporates a tad faster therefore leaving no residue, or no? Just kinda concerned the soap would leave some kind of small film on the paint
@mentalillnessconnoisseur6260 It is a bit better than soap because of the flow it gives to paint. I just prefer soap and water because it’s usually easier to remove, if done properly.
@@Modkits131 gotcha. Thank you for the info
You are always helpful. I paint in your style of acrylics and you teach it very well. Thank you for sharing
No thank you. I’m lucky to have viewers like you that support me. :)
