Jet Set Radio Future was my introduction to gaming at 4 years old(2004) and it changed my entire world. It came bundled with our Xbox and I am still indescribably fond of it 2 decades later. If you want to feel old, the game is set in 2024. And still we have no magical hoverskates.
I wish devs would realize that you can both push a hardware's graphical and technological limitations while still having a very distinct art style. Let's look at the Nintendo DS for example. You mentioned Okami in this video, but I think this was a wasted opportunity to also bring up okamiden. The Nintendo DS sequel that managed to almost perfectly replicate the visual style of the original into a much less powerful handheld format. Then there's super Mario 64 DS which actually looks better than the original, despite being a launch title.
I would have been able to tell it was a He-Man game. I had the far superior Intellivision version. I'm also just shy of a thousand years old. This was a walk down memory lane. I'm always a fan of style over realism. Style always looks good over time, but realism gets outdated by technology. Symphony Of The Night is the best example of this, but there's plenty of of others that stand the test of time, like Final Fantasy Tactics. Great video. Solid editing and well researched. You never fail to impress. I'll be looking forward to your review of Thank Goodness You're Here. I mean, it's genetic. You're required to do it, aren't you?
Ha my brother had that He-Man why I always remember it and he had this Transformers game for the Commodore 64 that took literally 15 mins to load up.
