Here is the math: Lvl 81 252 SpA Deoxys-Attack Psychic vs. Lvl 82 0 HP / 0+ SpD Galvantula: 208-246 (89.6 - 106%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO Brendan's Deoxys-Attack had a 37.5% chance to OHKO Galvantula, but failed. The player's Galvantula has to have a +SpD nature to reach this high a range, although Galvantula does technically also have a chance of survival even if it had a neutral nature. Brendan's Deoxys-Attack only rolled 213 instead of 232 or above. Only 6/16 of them had D-A getting the KO. In short, Brendan low-rolled.

How did that Galvantula survive a STAB Psychic from the highest Special Attack in the game (barring Mega Evolutions)?
