I was heavily confused when I was playing this at either 9 or 10. I was wondering at the time how Reznov teleports to certain key areas and even asked where he is in Rebirth Island. Took me years to slowly realize what is going on. Never realized at the time he is the same person in World At War( which is my number one game and how I got into Call of Duty than now)

I think it's implied that Mason killed the vc soldier similar to when Mason thought he saw Reznov kill Steiner, but really, he killed him.

I HATED how Black Ops 2 derails the story by going into this highly unrealistic near-future setting instead of STAYING IN THE COLD WAR era.

Yeah, it should’ve stayed in 1986 and 1989, instead of going all the way to 2025 where even his son is approaching middle age. That would’ve been left for BO3 instead.
BOCW only did marginally better, because it still takes place a decade over after BO1
