Shortly after, the UN began to push for Ukraine to become part of the council. This meant the buffer would disappear, and UN forces would be literally on the border of Russia, instead of on the Border of Ukraine But if Russia re captured Ukraine, they would again be in control of that buffer zone and could push UN forces back. They way any conflict would take place on the front lines in Ukraine, instead of in Russia Territory.
