Waitzkin has shaped me as a chess player and a man. His mind is like my oasis.

As a 40 year chess player and a 15 year martial artist, I found the a small secret to elevating both games: if you free yourself from the dread of failure, you can fly.

How did I know of this? It's so related to the "feelings as information" in my world. ... So much to love about this --- listening, razor's edge of greatness, deep empath, steep learning curve, SEEK OUT PAIN, change our relationship to discomfort.... again, how have I not heard this before? Fantastic!

Learning the firm to leave the form is an Aikido concept he borrowed from. You have to understand why something works to be able to create beyond it.

Leah is an empath, able to moderate my heart rate, breathing and temperature through a VDU, blurring the line between science and fantasy, how refreshing :)

It's not so much that you leave the principles behind. It's more that you integrate them so they are not separate checklist items. It's like when a pianist plays a song, he's in the flow and not thinking of the scales and technical exercises that he practised over & over again.

His only weakness is difficulty empathizing with the unambitious majority..

Extremely insightful video. But isn't using an external stimulus (like a change in HRV) to bring back your attention during meditation at odds with the core principle of meditation? Through meditation one trains the brain to develop a sensitivity to recognize when your mind gets distracted. Using HRV as a cue may eventually become a crutch in the pursuit of mindfulness.
