  • Wearing my Seiko SLA051 on a Divecore strap, I explain why you shouldn't wear a fake Anthony Kiedis Watch and how I've had my eye on the Seiko Astron SBXC111 for the last few months but am letting my desire incubate for another 3 months or so.

I'm finally down to 8 watches, plus one family heirloom. After years of wanting to be at 6-8 watches, but instead consistently having around 15 watches. Though I've never been higher than 20.
This channel has been transformative. Even though I didn't start watching again with that intention.
The "watch potency principle" is a neat encapsulation. I have good watches, I want to enjoy them. Why dilute the spirit? Drink it neat, get the kick.
Now if I could just get a grip on my addiction to surfing watches on ebay and cut the buying and selling right down.
I think the watch sherrif at the YMCA would make a great - hilarious - short story.

Maybe Anthony Kiedis is the Watch Sheriff and "Give It Away" is his collection downsizing anthem? Makes sense.

Kiedis is one of my music heroes, very interesting that you bring it up. The watch Sheriff making a comeback is boss! Thanks Me McMahon

I have the black “shark tooth” Seiko Alpinist SPB117 as a semi substitute for a Rolex Explorer. I am comfortable with this though as I never want to actually buy an Explorer and the Alpinist is very much it’s own thing (it just gives a similar vibe)

I have a Heimdallr Captain Willard homage. I guess that would qualify. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have Willard homage too, i like its presence but it is too heavy for my personal preference - 116g on waffle strap. It seems to me that 100g and less on strap (not bracelet) is ok.

Yep, just bought a San Martin 62mas homage. I'm ok with it so far :)

McMahon, that sbxc111 looks to be a perpetual calendar. And strap changes will be difficult with 14mm lugs. My Seiko perpetual needed a battery. Well now, don't I have major resetting issues! Luckily there is a video that walks us through the process, since the manual's 17 pages of instruction are difficult to follow.

With Anthony Keidis money, you could just pay your Hawaiian car mechanic, and your house keepers, etc. double or triple their usual pay to say that, brilliant! Love the chili peppers, and they definitely are authentic so cal for sure. Luckily, I have known myself well enough to avoid getting the homage, I prefer to marinate in my inability to attain watches like the Explorer 1, and now after so much time, I might just be disappointed with it in person.

Yeah I’m buying AliExpress watches. I love them. I simply can’t bring myself to drop 5k on a real Tudor.

I’m happy for you. My collection is well over $30K at this point and sometimes I want to kick myself for it

I don’t think I’ve every bought an Anthony Kiedis watch. If there’s something I want, I go for it.

Astron watches are nice but too small for my tastes. Also too dressy
