Do you know what cured me of this whole situation? I started making Mods from OEM parts from Japan and Aliexpress. I created my own SRP185 for 1/5 of the price. Like magic, I stopped suffering from investing in these pieces. This made me understand the value of parts and labor.
McMan Watches are jewelry for most men! The straps that you choose are what makes your individuality. Which are also forms of jewelry. What types of belts do you wear? Do you pair your belt color to your strap of the day?
I truly love your personality and honest opinions with a lot of healthy self irony. I can relate and a watch addition are a lifelong journey with no treatment other than looking forward to the next watch.. Accept what cannot be changed watch brother 😊
I was in Watch City (Torrance) last summer. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and I truly liked the owner of that shop. He then told me he knew an English professor who lived nearby and was a true Seiko lover who visited his store on a regular basis. Jeffrey, you can't just tell us now that it was all a lie, an illusion. I'm confused! No, I'm not. I totally understand what you're saying. It makes sense, as like any other addiction, the things we're obsessed with are not the real problem. They're only reflections of restlessness.
I'm getting ready to have a pure one-off custom-made leather watch strap for the SLA done by a guy here locally that does beautiful handmade cowboy boots and wallets he's never made a watch strap so I'm excited to be his first customer
With my remedial understanding of Jacques Derrida and Deconstruction, the signifier Jewelry to signify a Wrist Watch appears ambiguous, maybe? Instead reframe, and examine your relationship with "timepiece"? I say aporia.
I like watches, but I don't like jewelry. It's really quite the catch 22! For me, it's divers and durable watches, so things like the G-Shock, and similar watches.
When I was 13 my dad caught me smoking and made me smoke cigarette after cigarette until I was sick. Maybe you just need to keep buying watches until you’re over it….or is there a watch version of Nicorette….watchorette gum. Just chew whenever you feel the urge to buy another Seiko diver.👍🏼
I hate the idea of constantly tracking time so its odd that I wear watches. I like to live in the now. Also, every time I see men in the media whom I respect , they mostly never wear a watch, it bothers me.
You do not have to ask yourself why you like chocolate cake (assuming you're one who does) it simply appeals to your taste buds, and maybe not those of others. There are aspects of life and the mind that defy pinpointing, it does not make you less, best to just enjoy these things responsibly as given. There are things that make me feel a certain way and I can define quite accurately why, there are others that completely allude, I find them to be a wonderful thing of newness inside of my overly groomed mental garden, a flower that I didn't tend to and can't say I planted, and yet there it is in all it's beauty. In my opinion, the best things in life's very personal experiences are the ones that defy explanation. You like watches, make your peace with it!
There is a cure but to experiment with it could be expensive. Like Adel Imam who showed his left ear with his right arm when someone asked “show me your ear”, you went all the way to China just to move next door. I’ll tell you what I mean: sell everything, buy a Rolex Sea Dweller, ride off into the sunset. Cumulatively, you’ve spent more money over the years (e.g., buying and selling, your time online browsing, accessories, gas, shipping, etc.) then just buying the Rolex. Your humility and disdain for pretentiousness is battling your own ego. And that’s ok. You’re a man. A man that was probably raised with good values. What if, with the realization of the brevity of life, you gave yourself the permission to buy the Rolex?
Those great work on the Isofrane and Tropic straps I put them on my Seiko turtle no issues. Also I highly recommend the Uncle straps GL831 rubber strap they are available in orange.
After all these years watching your videos and spending all this money on ’jewelry’ you tell me now you don’t even like watches! I have listened more to you than to my wife. I better unsubscribe but what will happen when I have to listen to more to my wife? She will sell all my watches! Maybe for the best. Just kidding. Some advice, don’t retire. Your watch obsession will go up by 10x. Just a word to the wise.
@@JeffreyMcMahon Oh yeah that is a bummer, I bet it would look good on that 055. There’s one last unit where I’m at, available for a discount at $3700. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but your videos are making it hard not to! 😅
"I never really liked watches", he says. How dare you, McMahon. How DARE YOU!!

Time to adopt Elvis's favorite saying "I can quit anytime I want"
That said, that 055 is sick!

One of the funniest watch videos of the year.
I also picked up the ISOfrane in black for a recent pickup: the Certina DS SUPER PH1000M Orange Dial Limited Edition. A match made in heaven IMHO.
So now you can wear a different watch every day of the week Jeff. Congratulations!

watches are like your children some are easier to get along with than others but they are yours and you love them all the same

I'm glad you met Raffi, my friend. He knows I have ambivalent feelings toward this crazy watch addiction.

You'd look good in Snake skin Boots 👢
I don't let anyone touch my babies to adjust or change the bracelets. I only trust myself.

“It’s bright and it’s shiny and I must have it.”
Part of our brains have configured into a facsimile of the brain of a magpie.
My favorite episodes are when they’re just chock full of self loathing 😂
The Isofrane isn't flattering. Change it immediately.

Listen to Elvis Costello... What's so funny about peace love & understanding. IMO one of the best rock songs ever written

The closest i could get to this is Nina Simone ... Sinnerman ! POWERRRR
Uncle Straps has 2.0mm spring bars with 1.1mm tips. I wonder if those would fit your rubber straps.
Thanks

Yeah, you don’t like watches, MacMahon 😂 You don’t talk too much, you think too much 👍
Watch Potency - think functioning alcoholic.
Just wondering if you’ve tried an Artem loopless on the SLA?
I'm waiting for Artem to make a longer strap for 8 inch wrists.

How much do you pay to swap out bracelets at Watch City?
I had to pay a nominal fee for the spring bars, which they had to custom order.
@@JeffreyMcMahon They do it for free? (Except the cost of the spring bars)
@@anyday82 I don't know their rate.
Rubber is not as potent as leather. imo
