As always, another insightfull piece of information as you always provide. I'm completing my second year of membership to Dave's photography school. This is by far the best courses I came upon in photography. If you're in landscape photography, give Dave's courses a try. My techniques and knowledge has gone up so much with all the information in these courses.

Dave. Thank you for all you do. We were just on the coast at the end of March during that flooding storm in Seattle. I could barely stand near Haystack Rock on the Oregon coast and here you are crushing it again.
As incredible as you are that’s how much I suck but I appreciate how kind and helpful you are always. If I was younger, had a better hip, and wasn’t a cheap son of a gun, I’d follow you hiking around the world like a bad habit.
Just wanted to say thank you again for providing morons like me inspiration and great help. You are awesome and I wish you all the best in 2022.
That picture of Rainier and the sunsets was magical. I took all my Rainer pictures and used them for our worm composter after seeing how crappy mine were. Stay safe and please leave during any lightning strike

In these times of pandemic, I like very much how you expose the whole place where you are taking the picture and the calmness you exert in seeing nature, inspiring one where to take other pictures than the one you chose in this video. What you explain and how you realize on the camera display what you are looking for in this case I liked about the light : bright and dark, contrast etc. as well as pointing out where your focus was on the camera and the other shot you take to ensure a better light exposure in the sun the second focus. Watching your video is very nice and inspirational in my case that I am in a lockdown because of the pandemic.

Dave : hikes for hours with a plan , sets up for sunset with plenty of time , methodically shoots one comp . Me : arrive late , run around like a maniac , shoot 5 comps , exposure bracket and focus stack them all and ultimately , go away with nothing ! Watching Dave is so relaxing and hopefully I'll pick up some new habits ( or medication ) and learn to SLOW DOWN !

I like the video, highly didactic as usual. It's also very honest, showing a photographer's real life when things don't happen as expected, while remaining positive. The photography school courses are great. I've been a member for two years, and the contents is so comprehensive I haven't yet completed it.

Just wondering if you're using a remote trigger to continue taking pics when you wander away from the camera?
Also, why was the focus point (square) red rather than green some of the time?
Since you didn't get the colour you were hoping for, would you consider blending a more colourful sky (perhaps from another day or location - i.e. create a composite)?

Hi, Dave! Had a question for you if I may. I don’t have any experience shooting photography along the ocean coast…does the air along the coast hurt the camera equipment at all if you’re shooting for a few hours? Not sure if you’d actually have to get the camera wet for it to damage the equipment, or if the ocean air itself will also hurt things. Thanks in advance
