    Tell your mom that she did a great job for her first vertical garden! My first vertical garden, I only found 3 potatoes! various sizes and not one of them can be considered a decent size! I'm so jealous right now! Stay blessed! ~MG

    For good potatoes you must wait at least 2-3 months, all leafs must be dry when get them out the soil, never get it out when it's green because it still grows

      New potatoes. When the plant is still green are small tender and tasty.

      Thanks for the info. I was wondering when to check when to harvest my potatoes where my regular ones are in the ground and some in a tub and I've some sweet potatoes in a tub growing too. She's done a great job👏🏿

    Thank you for sharing this video. You are so smart to have created such a great growing spot. I feel so excited about trying your technique come next springtime. I grew sweet potatoes when I was much younger, and they were wonderful. My grandmother sliced them and dehydrated them using her old cast iron stove. Then she stored them in airtight mason jars, and added them to soups and stews all Winter. I used a couple of sweet potatoes from the farmers market in the fall. I let them grow foliage and planted the plants with 3 ft. of foliage by the time spring came. We grew them in mounds...I forget the reason, but they grew way better in a big mound than in the flat garden. Today they treat a lot of them at grocery stores so they won't sprout, but I heard that the ones that Whole Foods sells are all untreated. Anyway. You are a complete inspiration and I plan to use the valuable information you were kind enough to share. Thank you !!!

    Okay, this was a great concept on vertical gardening but here's what you are going to need to try next. Use this yeid as seed potatoes, you can even start them in water but only after the potatoes dry out a little, then plant them but add dirt/boxes as they grow.

  • @sansaviera
    @sansaviera 5 лет назад

    Awww better luck next time. Make sure you have the right type of potatoes. Some will grow throughout as the leaves get higher when you add dirt. Others will only grow from underneath where the potato leaves start.

    Regular potatoes grow well when you add soil as the tops grow, however sweet potatoes are different and require a different method. Don't give up, read what others did and try another growing method. You only fail if you stop trying :)

    I think, what the Filmer saw was the potatoe fruit. You can also plant the potatoe fruit to get 2 years after a Pheno type of the potatoe. The normal root method clones the potatoe.

    As you said you should have installed a pipe in the middle of it. So the water could have reached to the very bottom. The tower’s the brilliant idea though . Enjoy the harvest.

    Hello mam. Just a thought, the boxes have gone up too high so water really doesn’t get to the bottom 2 boxes where the potatoes develop. You have put in so much work. Just under 2 feet should produce a lot of potatoes. Good luck mam.

    I was really Interested to see your harvest result in this big tower because I also like to experiment with plants because of my little garden..... Great building and good result - BUT: Maybe I have an interesting information for you. It also very depends of the type/ variety of potato you plant. Some type of potatoes only built potatoes around mother potato, so you can add so many soil you can and they do not bring much more harvest. This types are good to plant them in normal garten bottom and in boxes where you do not add so much soil. But there are other types of potato who really built new potato at the whole plant up to the top. They are perfect for planting in higher bags and such high towers. One of this types who built new potatoes in the high is named "Rote Emmalie" Rote = red. If you use this type of potato I guess you can get a much bigger harvest in your tower. A german youtouber named "Neues vom Landei" made therefor experiments and I really was surprised about her results. Maybe you want to have a look there - Neues vom Landei - Kartoffeln im Sack - I gess it was # 4. It is in german, so highly interesting but Mayby the picture help you to unterstand if you do not speak german. This woman is a really potatoe expert and did several potato experiments. Enjoy garden and harvest.
