Laura, Aaron & Ken! Great to see you guys finally had the time to compile snippets from multiple vids to create a start to finish video. Will be helpful to many people I would think. Well done!
Whew, I thought I wasn’t seeing right! I noticed there was something different about Laura, and why was she planting potatoes in raised bed instead of the south garden and at this time of year?! Took me a minute to figure out how hat was going on!! 😆
I almost never comment but had to to say I’m so excited to see this style of video! I don’t care that it’s all old video, the fact I can see all the info in one video is incredibly helpful! Especially because I live in the southern hemisphere and I can’t grow at the same time as you. So trying to remember all this amazing info for 6 months to apply it (or search through old videos for 1 important line of info) is very tricky. Thanks so much guys!!
Yay! I know you were talking about doing this I start to finish, and I’m so glad you did! I am a hairstylist, and my clients always ask me about my gardens and it’s helpful to have these videos to show them when they have questions. Thank you so much.
This is great! My only request would be to add the date stamps of when these videos were produced. Being in a similar zone, I follow Laura’s lead often but keep in mind my own forecast. You both are beyond invaluable and I can’t express enough gratitude for the love of gardening I have found through your channel!
Will Yukon potatoes do well also? This video made me want to watch The Martian again 😂 !! It also reminds me of one year when I threw some potatoes into my mulch pile and didn’t realize they would grow until some “mystery plants” started popping up 🥔 🪴!! 😂😂
I LOVE this!! My son is very excited to try and grow potatoes, he's only seven and I have never tried it before and I've always thought of it as a difficult crop. You made this look so seamless! I can't wait to get our raised bed filled with fresh soil and get some going 💓
Love this before & after video. Your videos stand the test of time. Nicely done! Love the reminder that smaller trees, perennials and shrubs grow faster that we think. It so cool to see your arbs in the early stages of growth.
I've kept my potatoes in my refrigerator bottom drawer for years without any problems whatsoever. They've never once turned brown while frying them. Great video and well explained!
Loved waking up to the video this morning. There is something so satisfying about growing Potatoes. It reminds me of Christmas morning as a kid and the excitement of discovering what is under the Christmas tree! 🥰 Have a wonderful weekend everybody. We are supposed to have more snow starting Sunday here in So. Oregon. 😊
My 3 yr old daughter watched this with me she got so excited because she helped harvest our potatoes this past fall. Can’t wait to see your potato harvest for 2023 🤩
Planted my potatoes 2 wks ago, Zone 9B and the plants are sprouting already 😁🥔 🥔 🥔 also planted various seeds and my spinach, cabbage & radishes are sprouting as well 😋
Perfect! I was just going through your videos on onions and was going to look up potatoes next. I've seen these videos before but it's nice to get a refresher
So thankful for the video i really enjoy watching your videos its so nice to see how you do everything and work the soil up and get the potatoes out of the ground itsj. ust an awesome video
Drying means to cure the skins so they toughen up for storage. Straight out of the ground the skin is damp and tender and easily bruises or scrapes off if rubbed. Exposed to air laid out in a single layer on a rack let's the skin dry out ( like the bagged potatoes you get in the store)
Oh my gosh I am so glad you put this video together. We just started planning our garden and I'm going to be planting potatoes for the first time. I was looking back on an old video to watch so I could see what you had to say about potatoes. I can't believe how small the Arbs are. Your garden sure is come a long way since you started. Thanks again for putting together this video. Now I only have to look in one place.💗
My youngest son loves, loves, loves potatoes. I want to teach him how they grow, so he can grow his own eventually and instead of me going to buy bags, he can learn to harvest his own potatoes too. How awesome for both of us to learn how to do this.
Good video I'm going to follow your method this year. Last year I tried growing potatoes by using pallets. Well that was a total flop and especially considering the effort that went into watering baby sitting it. So needless to say I'm excited to try another method also we are in southern Colorado thanks for the video
Watch Simplify Gardening with Tony O"Neill he is a pro at container growing potatoes. I tried this last year in 5b, Michigan and got beautiful potatoes out of a 10 gallon bucket
These video clips were recorded before I started my own gardening journey, so this was all new to me. That said, excellent video on the potato life cycle!
Are those planters isolated from below so that you can have constant PH level and also no bugs? If so, what are some good dimensions, I'm thinking of introducing some to my garden as an experiment, as I've been planting them on my soil as they are.
Good editing!! Nostalgic at seeing your favorite kneeling board. They are still not carrying it.😏 I would add a time stamp and your zone at the lower left side of each video segment. This will greatly help us determine when to plant ours even if we are on a different zone. Did you finally get another video editor? If so, what is his name? 👍🥔🥔🐈
Laura question? Last year I grew potatoes. I don’t have anywhere to let them cure. We pulled them from the garden and used what we needed. If we didn’t need them we left them in the garden. Do you actually have to cure them? Or can you use them as needed and leave them in the ground until we need them?
Now with the part of potato that you started with what's the plant part that you got the new potatoes from what you do with the old potato and in the stock can that be used for anything or can you replant that
I have a potato growing in my skullcap. The deer pulled up my skullcap I noticed it after the ground froze so I potted it with some old dirt. The other day I noticed a potato stem growing along with my skullcap in the pot. I still have to take it out but if fascinated me.
@@cynthiafisher9907 skullcap is a perennial in the mint family. It’s considered to have medicinal values but I like the dainty little flowers. It was part of Laura’s video 15 perennials to grow from seed.

Did anyone else say "awwwwwwww" at Laura's kneeling pad? She loved that thing!!! And the short arbs!!!
Laura, Aaron & Ken! Great to see you guys finally had the time to compile snippets from multiple vids to create a start to finish video. Will be helpful to many people I would think. Well done!
Look at how little your arbs are! Oh my goodness! They have grown so much!!
I was thinking the same thing! This must have been from 2-3 years ago but still great info!

Yes! I hope this highlight channel continues this style! I watch their videos over and over to refresh my knowledge. But this style was awesome!
Wow, talk about a throwback. Look at the arbs; they’re so little. 😮😊

This is really very helpful and very timely for me ;) I will be trying to grow potatoes for the first time this year, so fingers crossed 🥔🥔🥔

I have heard of people doing that. There may be an issue with rodents eating them.
WOAH! THROWBACK!!!

Aaron already does that
So no problems with potato beetles by you or do you spray anything?
Now with the part of potato that you started with what's the plant part that you got the new potatoes from what you do with the old potato and in the stock can that be used for anything or can you replant that
I the cat work inspector. 😊
You know it’s an older video when she said , let me put some gloves on first 😅
I had a great harvest but the skins were green and I was told not to eat green potatoes. What did i do wrong?
Hmmm, usually it means they’ve been exposed to sun...my grandmother said never eat them green either.
😢please don’t get rid of Russel. He’s up in years. He won’t be around much longer. I just lost my kitty. I miss him so much. My kids grew up with him.
Does anyone know why my potatoes get scabby?
Hum... No use to seeing recycled videos being presented as a current video. I think I like having one plant going from seed to harvest in one video.
The video was first shown on April 15, 2018
And your point is?
@@cynthiafisher9907 I was wondering when it first appeared - and if I did, I'm sure other did as well. So I posted the information

Also, don’t let the potatoes sit in the sun. They turn green under the skin, which is poisonous.
Yes I remember my grandmother saying never to eat green potatoes. It shouldn’t kill you but you can be terribly sick!🤢
I remember these videos first time round and I think you should do this with your garlic, onions, tomatoes and pepper videos 🥰
