    I plant seed potatoes in grow bags every year now. My grandsons harvest them and it’s like an Easter egg hunt. They love it! Thanks for another great video!

    Nice. I did an experiment last year where I went even lazier. I placed cardboard on the ground, started setting potatoes down and covered with dirt and adding more dirt as the season progressed. It worked !

      I live in the windy western desert of NV. I have some bags like plastic grocery bags I am no longer using as they are worn or the handles are off. Maybe I will try that. Thankyou for all the ideas.

      @@michelleharrell8452 As the plastic breaks down you may get microplastics in your soil. make sure you peel any root veggies so you dont eat the plastic!

      I watch both channels. Love them both. In addition I watch epic gardening, Jacques in the garden , Huw Richard's and Charles Dowding Migardener which are not necessarily in my zone and some others a little,, but therea wealth of information that can be applied to other zones. I enjoy their wealth of knowledge and experience that I can learn from.

    We always did the same thing with three stacked tires. When fully produced pull the tires apart and just pick the potatoes up.

I am waiting for my onion bed to finish so I can break it down and narrow it (from and 8' x 4' to 8' x 2'). Now I am thinking to cut the 4 foot board into thirds and reduce the width even further. Thanks James for showing your success with the potatoes with the "edge" planting. That gave me great insight!

    I did my potatoes the usual hard way this year, maybe I'll do mine in a couple of these next year! Watching all of these good results from tighter plant spacing makes me want to try some of these techniques! I love the lush look of a space covered in green for several months! My furry friend of Tuck's is one of the reasons I have to put a fence around my asparagus bed!

    ❤ you can actually take off the shoots and plant them. I doubled m6 potatoes by doing just that. And i planted the potatoes. Dad is 90 and showed me how to cut the potatoes 🥔 to get even more. ❤

    Last year I did a test - same potatoes, same compost soil, same size raised beds. One place potatoes were in between corn and onion, another inbetween peas and beets. Peas showed much greater result! Can you please make more videos on companion planting, because it is a very difficult theme to understand! 😢 This year I am trying to grow potatoes in big pots - planted them vaguely, but with a little soil and mulching with grass too. Hope it works! 😊 Love your videos, all are very inspiring! Thank you for what you for all the time you put and impact you make!

    I have a new bed with no soil that I'm gonna try Ruth stout method. I have some compost and a little bagged top soil to put on top and a ton of leaves from the fall to mulch with. It doesnt get a ton of sun but we'll see how it goes and I'll be building soil for next seasons crops. Did you cut the blooms off as they appeared on the plants?

    Thats a super good way to keep animals out too. I think you can just use hay instead of soil. It looks clean and the plants are beautiful. Ive seen people do it in burlap sacks or laundry baskets. Definitely ideas. Thank you!

    Great video. I have been planting seed potatoes in grow bags. No digging involved except to shovel in compost from my bins. Grow bags makes harvesting very easy, but I see that you were more or less able to pull all the potatoes up by the stems and leaves. Digging up potatoes with a spade or fork tends to result in damaging several.
