Thank you Karan for this brilliant discussion. Mr. Dave deserves a standing ovation for his candid remarks and fearless words. He is one of the rarest in the legal fraternity with a spine and legal acumen. We in India need more such voices to awaken the judiciary, executive and the citizens who are in deep slumber and are willingly contributing to the shredding of the nation’s conscience. 👏👏

Yes... CJI Chandrachud, you will be remembered in history, but for these reasons:
    * For co-writing / co-authoring the Babri Masjid judgment, and then not having the courage to sign the judgment.
    * For declaring electoral bonds illegal and then ensuring that neither the money was recovered nor anyone was punished.
    * For calling the Chandigarh election officer a criminal and then taking no action against him.
    * For declaring the Shinde/Fadnavis/Ajit Pawar government illegal, declaring the governor's actions illegal, and then allowing the same government to continue for the remainder of its term without taking any concrete decision. Sending the matter back to the illegal speaker and allowing him to make illegal decisions.
    * Instead of asking Adani Enterprises to sue Hindenburg in U.S. courts, you made Hindenburg Research a party to the investigation, and then, based on your 'expert' panel's final report, considered the Adani Enterprises as clean, rather than demanding an investigation of Hindenburg's allegations by a team of 'experts'.
    * For shielding yourself on the constitutional validity of the removal of Article 370 and then ruling that the decision was appropriate, overlooking the fact that it happened when the state assembly (a legal entity that should have been consulted) was suspended and under President's rule... leading to an odd situation where the President of India consulted with the President of India to decide that Article 370 should be abrogated.
    * You will also be remembered for allowing young Muslims like Sharjeel Imam, Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi, and Gulfisha Fatima to remain in jail, ruining their youth. They are repeatedly being denied bail because they are neither rich nor powerful but simply because they are Muslims, fighting for the rights of Muslims.
    * You will be remembered for letting the accused in the Bhima Koregaon case rot in jail, for the death of Father Stan Swamy, and ultimately for the death of Professor G.N. Saibaba. Even though credible forensic evidence showed that the entire case was false, based on fabricated evidence by the police and politicians.
These are some of the legacies you are leaving behind. In the end, opinions may differ on whether you did anything good for the judiciary or completely failed in it.
Yes, before leaving, you did remove the blindfold from the eyes of the Goddess of Justice. Justice used to be blind, but now it will see who is the oppressed and who is the oppressor... and "justice" will be done accordingly. You will also be remembered for this new tradition.
But you did not honour the old tradition of the judiciary. You truly broke the practice of delivering justice according to the spirit of the Constitution. You did not decide the Babri Masjid case based on evidence but based on 'devotion to God and a direct connection with God', believing that God showed you the right path.
CJI Chandrachud, you will be remembered for all these reasons and for the fact that you flattered to deceive.
These are now part of history, which cannot be changed, like water that has flowed in the Ganges. Remember that history will not be kind to you.
And yes... you will also be remembered for performing a puja with the Prime Minister at a private ceremony, with a cameraman accompanying you.

This is indeed an enlightening discussion. My admiration for the senior Supreme Court Advocate, Dushyant Dave Ji, has enhanced. He is utterly honest and courageous in his assessment. Many people had high expectations from the CJI when he assumed the office. But, some of the judgements, as pointed in this discussion, are disappointing. The people of the country hold the judges in high esteem. But, things are not going in the right direction. How could a young scholar like Omar Khalid languish in jail for years without trial? This speaks so poorly of our judicial system.

While making a dispassionate assessment of the performance of Mr Chandrachud as the CJI.we need to place him in the context of his immediate predecessors. In clear comparison, we ought to appreciate the moves he has made and the changes he has brought about within a system suffering from a frigid state of stratification. He was no Hercules it is true but he has succeeded moderately, of course. He has given a much required push to a system of regimentation. His reformatory zeal is remarkable. It was an Augean stable which he was staggeringly confronted with. In case of the electoral bonds scams, to declare that it is unconstitutional requires moral guts. The verdict is not taken to its logical conclusion it is true but it placed the arrogant regime in its true colours for the electorate to draw their own conclusion and this time they did it correctly by clipping the wings of arrogance. Lastly, however we may try to do, it will always be, petty done undone vast. Browning strikes the true cord for us.😮😮

Judicial Officers should never be ‘charan chumbans’. The retired man was shameless as a CJI. Of course, he is leaving no legacy. This is a chapter best forgotten in history 😢!!

of the cases are adjourned on very filmsy grounds, judges do not bothers about the grevieances & sufferings of persons who are unfortunately trapped in legal cases. Very fundamental reforms are required without any waste of time. Many commissions are formed day in and day out, a commission on reforms in legal and court proceedings with leading luminaries should be set up
    Without any delay.

A good judge is the one who punishes, not the one who lets go free. Justice would be served, when Indians would have received their money back. If the perpetrators managed to flee and without consequences, I think it's every Indian's loss and also an injustice to all who lost with no traces of relief.

Wonderful speak. We need to garland this lawyer gentle man dushyant dave. I Envy and admiration in many ways have no sentence or any word to address his boldness and courageous talk. We have nobody near to him who does speak for every citizen in the country. Correct assessment. Wish he was at the highest office and involved in changing laws to avoid religion in politics and total bankruptcy in governance and administration. We wish we have many more of dushyant kind lof humans in the country to fight this proxy government who has bull dozed real issues and creates issues to fight and crush minorities and elected opposition ruled states and totally demolition of any political parties and leaders who do not echo or sing chorus with the current regime which is dictatorial or iran like mullah regime or communist of china??????
