I like how they knew that the last one was a success. So they made small improvements everywhere instead of trying to revolutionize it again which could have possibly ruined it. This is why I love Honda
This is why the gti/R always do so well.
That pro driver you were chasing had perfect lines and braking points. I can tell because I learned that track hundreds of laps in Forza. Nailing that first sweeper turn early on the apex sets up the second right turn over the hill just right.
I always just floor it and slam off of walls or other cars. 😝

This new Type R could be a perfect car for touge runs and track days as well. Even in today's modern era, the raw authentic vibe is still there on that car and you can still enjoy it as the same as the old Type Rs like the EK9s before!! The connectivity between the driver and the machine is still there!! And also, I'm really glad that they've addressed the previous Type R's issues including the fake vents and the interiors as well and made the new ones simpler and minimalist!! It really attracts people including us enthusiast to drive this car with confidence and pure joy on the roads. It's a pure driving experience on this one!! I'm really looking forward on this new Type R platform especially on its potentials!!! Can't wait what Spoon Sports and Mugen will do once they've got their hands on this thing (including the other aftermarket and tuning shops ofc especially in Japan like Seeker, and etc.) Well done, Dustin!! Keep on doing this!! And always drive with passion and pure joy!!! You'll inspire many people on this in the future so yeah, best of wishes my man!! Have a great day ahead!!
Spoon Type One already have their hands on one with revised suspension and exhaust. They are developing intercooler and new cooling device. Should be exactly the same with Mugen, they already started doing tests and developing mods on the car.

Thats a lot of sawing at the wheel. I'm guessing the front end doesn't have much feel on track. Looks like a great time. Just wish it had more power.

Owners have been complaining about the ride stiffness and some have found they forgot to remove the shipping blocks from the suspension.
That was one for the bucket list, glad you found more inspiration and experience from these track days. This model also seems to solve allot of problems you had like cooling, it's large so more options for your wheel base and tires. I hope you could get the sn 0000000 but we keep on praying.
Having had few Hondas in the past...the TYPE R is definitely on the bucket list someday.

The type R fl5 is awesome would love to have one in my driveway.
Did you ask the guy, "Chief Engineer Dude, I get the stiff springs, but why did you make the damping so bouncy, even in Comfort mode? We're on a major track, and we still can't use +R mode, it's so stiff and bouncy. Mellow out on that a bit, and the thing is perfect!"
I really want an FL5 but there is no way I’m spend the prices they are going for right now…. Also I like Honda Dut content and can’t wait to see what you do with your FL5

It's not so much the spring stiffness as opposed to the actual shock. The manual adjustment modes for the suspension change the shock valving so a better shock in there is probably all you need
Throttlehouse did a comparison with the FK8 and it was wayy faster than the FL5 in a straight line. Not on the track, but still thats a bummer tbh
It’s a beautiful car and I have had American made cars for the past 7 years (Focus St and Mustang PP2). I think this might be my first step back in to the Japanese auto market! Great video I love the detail and I love that you are truly honest about it!

Went to the dealer to purchase I quickly change my mine. They wanted for a Type r $76000 in New York. Retail price was $45679 crazy.

You know better there is a Spoon x KW collaboration. If I were you, I would go completely crazy, getting a KW 5-way racing suspension. Please, make sure to report every little detail of the race car. Epic.

I like the FL5. I never driven a FK8 and probably never will since I don't know too many people who own one but yeah. I always wanted to drive at Sonoma. I've been there once to spectate but never drove on there yet. Watching the pro driver, I can see the fluid in his cornering. It seemed as if he didn't have to fight too much w/ the steering and took nice lines. Congrats on making it this far in life. Keep up the great content and hope to see you one day at a track =)

Not really 5~10 more horsepower than FK8. In Japan they Officially states that it puts out 330hp, even in the Brochure and Launch reports. Someone already put it on a Dyno run in the states and it already puts out 330hp on the wheels. Honda USA has undervalued the HP at 310~315hp because of the Quality of the Fuel and detuning ...etc. But seems like it's not the case. Check out the CivicXI forum for the dyno post.
Another vid out there has the fl5 and fk8 do a roll race - fk8 took it twice, both stock. Interesting to find out why

One think that’s weird to me is that it’s not a flat bottom steering wheel? It’s super accord looking I feel like they should put flat bottoms on the SI’s and type R’s other than that these cars are perfect. Love the new FL5 because it’s a blank canvas that’s always fun cause they’re be more unique

I wish Honda would offer the Type R in a Auto DCT package. I'm a paraplegic for those wondering why I would want such a thing. They could easily swap in the Trans out of the Accord 2.0T. I even emailed Honda and they said " Hell Nah dawg, get robot legs or something " . :(

The rear wing is what kills it for me. Granted, it is functional, but if Porsche can perform with a much more subtle rear wing/spoiler, surely Honda can. It looks like an after thought that was suggested by your 7yr old son.
Man, if you took like 3% off your entry speed you'd gain 10% on the exit. I do love your mad aggressive style though; like Alonso when he was winning world championships!

The fact it was so obviously bigger to you relly lets it down for me. Coming from the UK and Hot Hatches being so popular a smaller car like the Type R FN2 is perfect for me as a daily/ripper. I actually prefer to agressive/sci-fi styling of the FK8 but this is a stunning car. But both just seem too big to be a fun civic for our tiny roads here. I may change y mnd because I want one of the 2 but the prices are also insane in europe... Hopefully the FL5 launch will stop used FK8s selling for more than honda listed MSRP

@@A4ANT I mean the FK2 is nice, it was the first turbo type r which is cool and has a proper hand brake. I just didn’t mention it because it’s styling and size is similar to the fn2 it was a fair evolution not an entire switch like the fl5 is. Thing looks more like a 3 series than a civic
Ayyyee Dustin, I am an fk8 owner but love the stock wheels of the FL5. Would you be willing to sell me yours if/when you get aftermarket ones? I think they’d look fresh on my fk8 - keep up the great work and repping the Honda scene

No car is worth the markups. Its just shit dealerships price gouging these cars because they know there will always someone that has too much money with no brain and is too impatient because they gotta be the first one to have it.
Yeah I won't be one of them bc I can't justify spending 20k over market value for a honda. Sad but ill wait.

Dustin what is your take on the bigger brakes. I heard you said when you press the brakes the car really stops. These is a RUclips channel driving 4 answers who says that big brakes won't stop you faster but wider tires will
I’ll speak from personal experience with my wilwood brakes, big brakes definitely make a big difference in stopping distance, BUT you need proper tires to compensate for the extra forces that the tire is going through, think about it the same as accelerating, you need a nice width tire with good compound to get the most out of your brakes, big brakes and small all seasonal tires will have lockup issues (for example)
@@dante_lsx so in other words big brakes do make you stop faster and better but you must have the proper tires. But this guy is saying well fromy understanding is big brake kits don't improve your stopping distance but having wide tires will.
@@purplehills56 yessir they do, and they can take a lot more heat because of the size too, and that is false. Yes wider tires will help you stop better, but if you take 2 identical cars with identical width tires just one car has a BBK, the car with the BBK WILL stop in a shorter distance, and the biggest benefit in my opinion is the amount of times you can brake hard before you experience brake fade, it boosts your confidence and in Motorsport that’s the most important thing

Pretty far fetched to say it's an upgrade in every aspect. A lot of it is opinion too. But given that it is a heavier car, and also now has a 3.8 final drive when the FK8 has a 4.1 final drive, it makes sense why the FK8 just keeps walking it in a straight line. Throttle House compared the 2 side by side.
Also, not only them, but others too have said the FL5 feels bouncier and the steering wheel feel on the road feels better in the FK8.
Fk8 beat it Sodegaura on worn out tires. Not saying the FL5 is bad, but some people are hyping it a bit too much I think.

Its 10hp more DUT 10thgen CTR was 306 and this one is 315
