- This is how I did it. There doesn't seem to be any rule-of-thumb directions out there. This is just another opinion to consider in the DIY world. The European gear can be very expensive to obtain parts. After hours of research, I felt very comfortable with this procedure. Sorry about the video quality. I did this all while trying to work and hold the camera. For those that want the rest of the story, Tannoy uses Ferrofluid APGS15N if you just wanted to order some. Syringe comes with 0.3ml. I would prefer about twice that much.
Thanks for this, just helped me out of a bind 🙏
Thanks, i just did some kef q60s with ferro fluid. Not many videos on this subject, good to watch this to check if i missed anything.
Thank you
Do you have to fill it up to the top?
Does anybody know where to buy this in the United States?
I’ve seen some for JBL speakers, but I want to make sure that I get the correct one.
درود بر شما و تشکر بابت محتوا ویدئو... تابحال طراحی بلندگو به این شکل ندیده بودم.. آیا طراحی شرکت هست، یا خودتان طراحی کردید؟ ممنون
Thanks for this video. I’m replacing a diaphragm that was pushed in. Should I fill or replace the ferrofluid if it looks like it’s mostly still there?
I would clean out the old and replace with the new that you received with your diaphragm.
@@augustusd1 my diagraphm replacement did not come with ferrofluid. Is it worth ordering if the speaker hasn’t been burnt out?
If it still looks wet with ferrofluid down in the pole piece slot it should be fine. I was surprised at how little ferrofluid was actually needed.
@@augustusd1 thank you! I’ll give it a shot.
Sorry of the bad Q video,,, thanks!
Please, do you know if Tannoy Westminster HE also uses ferrofluid on tweters?
I do not know the answer to that question. Sorry
May I ask why did you change the diaphragm itself? You didn't find just changing ferrofluid enough or the tweeter was broken in general?
The original diaphragms were toast. Fried, Burnt to a crisp.
Where can I buy the parts ??
You must find someone on EBay that has them for sale. They are not manufactured anymore.
I bought these old stock pieces from Great Britain. $125 each. The speakers sound phenomenal!!!
@@augustusd1 thank you ordered a pair from Lockwood I have a pair 215 dmt ii speakers
how to determine plus and minus on a new diaphragm?
i believe they were factory marked.
Hello mister !! do not you know where I could buy two diaphragms for tannoy i12?
I have some replacement i12 drivers selling in the UK!
@@wynstone7283 Do you have two diaphragm units for the Mk1 Tannoy 611 Speakers, or happen to know where I can source some in UK - many thanks.
Think I just seen some on eBay unless I'm mistaken!!
I also have tannoy dc 8inch 2062 drivers if any use??
@@wynstone7283.... Hi I'm also after parts for the i12 if you have any bits available.. thx
can you put ferrofluid in any speaker or just ones that had it from factory?
just the ones that had it from factory
You can, but you shouldn't. Speaker with ferrofluid has its gap that holds the coil much deeper because the ferrofluid needs to stick into that gap. Adding ferro would probably spill it once you turn on the speaker.
Also there's no advantage whatsoever putting ferro on non ferrofluid cooling speaker. Ferrofluid was used to cool the heat from voice coil of a speaker driver with higher power, if your speaker don't come with it, that means your speaker power is low enough to make the cooling benefit of ferro fluid unnecessary.
A couple of years worth of rock music at high volumes and the fluid will thicken.
Focus, focus, focus. God dawn focus.
I should just take the video down since the bad camera equipment I had then doesn’t allow for any useful information whatsoever. I do appologize for wasting your time.
@@augustusd1 Your video is great. But the camera...
How do you know if you used enough fluid?
i used all that was supplied. I wish I had more.
