    Just did one, drilled very tiny holes with a dremel (0,79mm drillbit) in the faceplate around 10mm from the coil (there is a small ridge) and led them on the outside back through the small holes an soldered them. Used one layer of electrical linnen tape to isolate. Put some glue in the lead tracks and solderinghole. I removed the felt dome as the new domes wont fit over it (as far as I could see). Ask for 4 ohms specifically when ordering. They will send the correct ones.

    I've always wondered about tweeters with the leads on the front panel. Just waiting for little fingers to pry at

    I’d love to see how you mounted the new diaphragm!

    looks like a different type of dome material that's a sort of plastic the original looks like impregnated material.
    don't forget your test leads a couple of ohms so it's probably 6.6. you can run a carbon film resistor in parallel to give you the desired resistance.

    Hi thanks for this video, very helpful - did the repair with an eBay 8ohm voice coil, it says 8ohm on the back of the tweeter housing, but still sounds very treble-heavy, is this just the sound of the 15XRs?

    The 4 Ohms version of this diaphragm seems to be impossible to find nowadays. Would it work to unwind half of the coil of an 8 ohms until it matches the dc resistance of the other tweeter? Or would all the winding fell apart?

      I wouldn’t do that.
      Adjust the crossovers to compensate

    Hi, any idea where best to source the correct diaphragms for this job? I'm looking to replace some on ditton 33s and struggling to find info online

    Do those generic dome replacements sound the same as the originals?

    • @dittonworks
      @dittonworks  2 года назад

      That one won’t as it’s the wrong impedance.
      4ohm ones sound close enough

      Will it run hot if it’s 4ohm

      @@paulmurray6071 the amplifier would run warmer with 4 ohm load.

      Hi got a set of 15 XR with no tweeters and have been given a set from ditton 22 but need new coils . Is it just the coil that sets the impedance. are the tweeters the exact same as I need the 8 ohm for the 15 XR but think there 4 ohm ditton 22 version
