    Thanks so much for the video, really informative. I need to replace the tweeter dome on my B&W DM601S1. What type of glue can I use to affix the replacement tweeter dome on the plastic, once the old dome has been ripped off, and the area cleaned? Any tips on how to properly center the new dome before glueing? Thanks

    Hello, I was watching your video again for the 5th time (it’s a good reference what can I say?) and this question came to me. Would it matter having too much ferrofluid in the tweeter, how do we know when enough is enough?
    I’m sure we won’t be adding the exact amount that KEF had calculated but maybe there’s a way to come close enough?
    Thank you

    I disassembled my dynaudio T-330D esotar tweeters and the problem was the foam stuff that was rot and disintegrated at the least touch. The sound of my TAOC-FC-3000 loudspeakers recovered the sound for what they should being known when their retail price in 2004 was of 7.000 euros. Quite expensive. Sometimes, when a great piece of hi-end electronic gear sound is deceptive is because something goes wrong. I told Dynaudio about this. Dou you know this, in their new flagship tweeters, they use a completely different way to tame the back wave from the dome inside by the use of a plastic perforated dome behind the actual tweeter textile dome. Something that don't get old like a foam. I can't help but think about all those 330D tweeter owners who likely don't know that their loudspeakers are working way way below their potential. A pity.

    Thanks. Useful and unique videos. I bought a pair of Kef Concord IIIs. Tweeters do not work at all; no sound (tried various wiring and amps). Seller ripped me. (Couldn't sound test due to covid restrictions). Should I follow this process for the tweeters? If it doesn't work then the cost of professional services for crossover fixes etc. here will be 3/4 times what the speakers cost (not including parts). So, thinking of selling for parts. Shame, as a classic speaker and not many around. I have ordered ferrofluid and I do know how to solder etc.

    I have some Tweeters from my B&W CM-4 Speakers. I needed to replace the tweeter domes with voice coil. That nasty brown Ferro Fluid is no fun to clean up. My question is: How full do you fill the slot the tweeter magnet that the voice coil rests in? I imagine you can't fill it to the top since the voice coil will displace some of the area. I have some KEF's 105 Series 3 that I was told would be a good idea to replace the fluid. The Tweeters play fine. I would have thought if the Ferro-fluid had become solidified like owners are saying, they wouldn't put out any sound? True/false? Thanks for any help.

    I'm working with a paradigm cc-350 center speaker. I was playing the stereo very loud today and smoke came out from the center speaker. I noticed the center speaker voice coil became detached from the rubber sponge. When removing the voice coil from the magnet I didn't know anything about ferrofluid. My question is does it matter which way the voice coil sits on the magnet? It seems that it can sit on the magnet two different ways. Does that really matter? Or just as long as the wires are hooked up correctly positive and negative I'll be ok. When I put the speaker back together I get no noise from the Tweeter unless I push in the voice coil. Is it possible for a tweeter voicecoil to smoke? Or did the smoke come from the circuit board in the speaker. Thank you, great video. I will be following you.

    • @texasound1
      @texasound1  6 лет назад +4

      Sounds like he does it by feel since he offered nothing concrete. Obviously the coil will displace some fluid and maybe the max level,isn't critical but a rule of thumb would have been helpful especially silence he didn't show it. This was my question also. Too kuch would likely restrict vc movement

    Considering the T33 can take 5ml/5cc of alcohol before it overflows and that the gap shall be filled to 75%, I calculate each tweeter can take 3.75ml of Ferrofluid. But it looks way more than the small container we see in that video.

    • @Mickparrysstepdad

      The absence of a ferrofluid speaks of a good design - reputable companies have the most prestigious tweeters that are always dry (since ferrofluid kills the microdynamics a little).
