Treatment For Severe Rotator Cuff Tear Pain

  • Here's a treatment for rotator cuff tears that are very painful. If it's extremely flared up right now, get a sling like this and put that sling on and on the side that bothers you. Get your elbow in there. Make sure your elbows all the way in the corner of that pocket, tighten up the sling by pulling the strap so that it shoves your elbow up against the ball socket.Join up here. And what's happening is you're bringing the edges of the tear together. So it needs to be pulled up enough to shove your elbow and your shoulder upwards. And it should begin to feel relieving almost immediately. Wear this throughout the day, especially when you're going to be active doing things for two reasons so that you can avoid using the arm as much, but also to let other people know not to bump into you and not to have you do things that you might normally do that could aggravate your shoulder.

Very helpful!!!! I bought a sling and was about to return it because, at a “normal” placement, it did little to nothing to relieve pain. Thank you!!! 💜

It depends on which rotator cuff muscle you tore, Or If what is broken is the bone and the muscle behind it came off... When the injury comes from the back of the shoulder, the sling will not hold the shoulder together, and will only hurt the patient more...

When i wear a shoulder brace i get this very intense burning sensation right in the joint it feels like. I had ordered a sling also but it was very uncomfortable. The only time I feel relief is putting my arm in my shirt for support.

Hi Richard, We have a Rotator Cuff Recovery Program that would be great for your recovery as it is broken down into phases. The program is similar to an in-person session that you would receive in our clinic minus the manual manipulation.
The Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery Program is a comprehensive program designed to get your shoulder pain under control to allow the rotator cuff tendons to heal. Then it guides you to correct the underlying root muscle imbalances so that you can fix the source of the problem (rather than just treat the symptoms) and get long-term relief from shoulder pain. This program works even if you've had rotator cuff surgery in the past but continue to have rotator cuff problems. To learn more please click this link: www.epmanualphysicaltherapy.com/rotator-cuff-tear-recovery-program/
We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

Hey just did this been have immense 10/10 pain .. how long should I wait to start doing your exercises? It’s been 9 days but today is the first day I’m using a sling like this ?

Great question Djshd! The best advice is to wait for the pain to improve. To start our exercises, you should not have much pain in the shoulder anymore. If you try our exercises and they hurt, then you are likely not ready for them yet. Hope this helps!
