    8:18 Learn more about inflammation!
Let’s talk about the top mineral deficiency in rotator cuff injuries and a lot of other joint injuries. Up to 94% of rotator cuff treatments don’t have a great success rate and require more treatment over time.
The majority of rotator cuff problems are related to the tendons, not the muscles. There are some natural things you can do to maximize the strength of your rotator cuff, but unfortunately, it will likely never be 100% again.
Two things you should never do for a rotator cuff injury are:
    1. Apply cold to the injury
    2. Rest the injured area
What to do for tendon rehab and rotator cuff repair:
    • A hanging stretch (for arthritis with no tear or trauma)
    • Isometric exercises
    • Get plenty of vitamin D, vitamin C, and amino acids
    • Keep moving on a regular basis
    • Eccentric exercises
    • Get plenty of manganese
The most important nutrient for your tendons and rotator cuff repair is manganese. A manganese deficiency can slow down the repair of your tendons. Manganese is essential for strengthening your tendons and ligaments.
The best source of manganese is shellfish. If you’re going to take a manganese supplement, consider taking about 200 mg for around a month and then try to get it from your diet.

      "Ibalgin. Goodbye."
It is because of this that I no longer turn to doctors with some problems (I'm 47, I have only one problem so far, a varicose vein on my left leg - it's more of a cosmetic problem for now), I go to the Internet and search with common sense.

I am concerned with amount of 200 mg of manganese that you are recommending. A high dosage of 15 mg is 652% of the DV. Surely 200 mg is too much. Most bottles of manganese serving size is only 8 mg daily.... can you verify please.

Great to see non-surgical methods explained. Bone broth has plenty of manganese and other minerals. I had a near-complete rotator cuff tear in a freak accident (couldn't even lift my arm up) replete with a loud "pop" several years ago with no problems ever since my personal protocol. I ate lots of bone broth almost every day for months (mostly rooster, but also plenty of beef). Never iced it. No surgery as I'm very skeptical of profit-oriented methods. Kept using/moving it as much as possible without re-injuring it. No problems ever since, and was close to normal within 2 years. Using food to heal is largely out of modern medicine's toolbox but often with surprisingly effective results. A comfrey salve with other herbs was also used. Vit. C too which is good for collagen repair.

As always great information, thank you. I had shoulder injuries for years to a greater or lesser extent through bad exercises. Early last year I discovered a book called The Oxygen Advantage which changed my life. The shoulder pain disappeared in a matter of months and so did the back pain I had experienced for 30 years. I believe the shoulder pain was cured because of extra oxygen in my body and the back pain was cured by strengthening my diaphragm.

The base premise of all is anaerobic disease cannot survive in a healthy, highly oxygenated environment. And everything we do, in a modern world deprives the body of oxygen. 28 years ago I had a badly broken shoulder and inevitably damaged rotator cuff. 18 years ago I agreed to a shoulder replacement. Consultant's advised that the rotator cuff injury had been so severe that it would be improbable for it to be fully functional again. However many exercises and rehab sessions down the line I have 95 percent motion without problem. This year I had a fall and damaged my opposite side rotator cuff, lucky me. Applying all the advise and exercises from last time it is slowly improving thankfully but I am going to take your advice and up the vit d and manganese for a month. Thanks for the advise. I now also take apple cider vinegar on your advise and my candida problem has improved and my IBS too. Woo hoo. Feel brilliant about that.

Hi Dr. Berg. I am very appreciative for your work and keeping we people educated with vital information. Would you ever consider doing a video on Thalassemia minor? I'm 74, thin, good health. I cannot tolerate iron and want to start taking manganese. Some of the foods I'm advised not to eat are what I consume on a daily basis: beans, broccoli, peanut butter, leafy greens, including large salads every other day, which I learned from you. Now I'm learning that my daily diet is not good for thalassemia minor. I'm so perplexed about all of this. I know it's an odd topic, and you might not be able to provide insight about it, and that would be OK. I still love you.

Thanks Doc, I live in Oz and have some years ago suffered a major injury and a "through" tear in one and multiple tears in the others. Been very problematic in restricting the arm, in sleeping and dressing. Now the fun part is I'm 72 and in otherwise good health but a couple of weeks ago I slipped and fell going down a ramp and after a "short flight" landed squarely on my left shoulder. Couldn't get up without help, felt like a real goose. Anyway to any poor buggers out there with rotator cuff issues just remember it could be both sides. There are tears in the L side just waiting on report. I will try to uptake my Mn levels and hope there will be some improvement as this latest has really limited my life activities.

Dr Berg, Rest was one of the things the drs here said for me to do when the pain is too intense since the prescribed pain meds only worked for a few hours on the 1st dose only. Also, my injury is bad enough to make my entire arm and hand swell. Elevation rest does help some and so does taking lasix. But I'm afraid of killing my kidneys so I only take that about 2-3 times per week depending on the swelling. And if swelling isn't too bad don't take it at all. But if arm is both swollen and cold, definitely do cuz that helps it feel somewhat better. And never in my life being flexible even though i was very strong, i feel like....i dunno what. If rest is one of the worst things for shoulder injuries, why would these doctors tell us to do that? But of course, I think I already know.

My left shoulder/ rotator cuff has been hurting for a few years now. Doing that hanging stretch doesn’t help. I tried it and it almost feels like it hurts it more. It’s most uncomfortable when I sleep on it at night. The extra pillow stuff helps but it’s hard when I’ve always been a side sleeper or on my stomach. Your videos have become one of my favorite channels to watch. So much better than all the media noise to watch someone that cares to help people get healthier! Thank you so much for your honest and genuine character as a Dr! You’re a blessing.

I have had three different procedures on my shoulders. One on the left and two on the right. The last one was a complete break away of the superaspinatus tendon from the humerus bone. So I am familiar with their trickiness. My one shoulder is slipping in and out again, so I will try manganese. I have a degree of kyphosis so that is a main trigger for making the shoulders unstable.

I tore tendons off my foot mucking around while drunk, couldn’t have been any more lucky but. X ray showed the tendon had pulled a little plug of bone with it. Doc said bone always re attaches to bone. He was right, healed in 6 weeks. So lucky.

Good timing as I have been having this rotator cuff pain for several months. I am thinking too much exercise, especially pushups may have caused it. I have a chin-up bar but attempts of hang or stretch is also too painful. I will try the manganese "fix" as I do not like shellfish. Thanks Dr Berg.

Always used to have a little pain in rotator cuffs on both sides, but particular my left. Felt them even doing barbell biceps curls. Had to use a EZ-curl bar to avoid it. But then I started doing rotator cuffs exercises with resistance bands. Let me tell you, after just 4 months all problems dissapeared and they felt much more stable and stronger. This was many years ago and never had any problem with rotator cuffs again.

I had rotator cuff partial tears 3 times from slipping on the ice. I did not have surgery. It took me about a year to recover from each tear. Each time it was the Supraspinatus and I could not lift the arm at all. PT and especially deep tissue massage helped to regain use of both arms. I now wear cleats when walking in icy conditions.

He must be tapping into peoples phones or has a way to check google or RUclips search engines because how is he always spot on in timing with these videos … I just hurt my rotator cuff the other day and he comes out with this video. I’m glad that the timing was perfect but kind of freaked out when he makes videos and they always somehow fall on the day I need them. Even the old ones rotate and pop up on my feed and their timing is always spot on too like how??? lol thanks though. Always very useful information.
