    I seen this setup before on an old step in cooler at a chinese restaurant. I had put a JC air coil in place of it and added R417C worked great. First time i saw an LP to control temp. Cool video.

    the reason for regulating the temperature through the LP control was to attempt to prevent the customer from screwing around with it. Lots of times, techs will remove the adjustment knob in a vain attempt to prevent tampering. The way I see it, if they screw up messing with the controls, they have to call you out and you get to bill them for your time. This only backfires if they wait till 3:30 on Friday....

    Like the explanation of how to set up those switches as a thermostat, kind of the same concept the reach ins use with the bulb in the coil, nice and simple. I looked up that app after watching, like the slide option. RSD Notes for those interested.

    LPC switch used for a t-stat only works if you have a non-bleed txv tho...but then again walk in boxes usually are non-bleed and have start components to overcome the stored head pressure. But that's also good info if you come across a walk-in with a bad txv that's running on a temp control with a low pressure cut out...don't put a bleed/equalizing txv on there! Good video

    great video Dave I like using that particular low pressure control , and as a universal temperature control I use the Ranco A12-700 and the cut in , and cut outs are at 37 cut in and cut out at 18 psig that works for me A12-700 bad ass tstat ...great video Dave

    Good video Dave. In most cases using a pressure control as a temp control on an outdoor condensing unit sucks. Your ambient temp fluctuates it changes your refrigerant pressures then causing your pressure control to cycle. They work good when the condenser is indoors. (Temp controlled environment to maintain a constant ambient temp.

    I usually like all the old school stuff but that in particularly I hate they are usually never really accurate and in the winter naturally the adjustment would be off compared to summer so usually I would just tell the customer that I would change it to a thermostat with a solenoid

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  7 лет назад

      hardcooling I tried they did not want to spend the $. If it had food in there I would have done it. Just beer 🍻 in there.

    Is it useable on reach-ins, with multiple txv's non ventilated (maybe ventilated to) and only one compressor. I've seen some of these and they never seem to run very good, which annoys me.

    My question is if that switch control the solenoid or you installed a tstat to de-energize it and make the system pump down ?

  • @elcrazy8017
    @elcrazy8017 7 лет назад

    Thanks Nor Cal. Thats exactly what i have my line voltage stat set at 55 degrees. Does the condenser come on automatically on pressure? Or do i need to run control voltage to condenser unit contactor to energize the comp contactor? Do i need to add a jumper somewhere in the terminal strip in order to tell condenser im doing a pump down system?

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  7 лет назад

      Jose Alfaro your stat needs to energize a liquid line solenoid valve. The psi switch cycles the condensing unit.

    What P-T CHART APP is that Dave? I’ll look through the other posts. Found it! It’s only on Apple that I can find. The RSD NOTES APP. I downloaded it for my iPad, but don’t have it for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Oh well,... On another note 📝,....Those pressure controls always confuse me. Any pointers to make understanding them better would be great. I like what you did, I just gotta watch the vid again to seal it in my brain! 😆. Thanks for posting great usable content,...as usual.

    Hey Nor Cal great video man. I currently work on HVAC systems only and i have a job im doing for a very good friend of mine. He has a wine cellar at his house being done and I installed a small ducted fan coil with a refrigeration Tecumseh condenser R404A.The fan coil installation instructions states unit to be set up as a pump down system and This video explained it all. I have a question regarding the cut in/cut out. Do you have an email i can message u?

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  7 лет назад

      Jose Alfaro on pump down for R404a set your cut in at 35 Psig. And have it cut out at 5 and you will be good. For wine have your Tstat set around 55-57
