Maybe you can give me some tips I have a McCulloch mac 160s yes I know it's an old saw it's from the 1980s😂😂. I don't expect you to know but I got this thing from eBay the guy said it runs which it does it runs really well. I added the proper fuel mixture make sure the bar pumps oil like it's supposed to and well everything is working but after 10 minutes of using this thing it starting smoking to the point I couldn't see. I checked everything it wasn't overheating but the exhaust cover had a black sludge dripping from it and it looked like used oil? Any tips

What if there are burn marks on the wood? Is that a different kind of issue?
You probably need to sharpen or replace the chain.
Make sure your chain is on the correct direction too. A chain on with the teeth in reverse can cause this as well as dull teeth.

a dull chain can also make it smoke, it gets hot and burns up the bar oil
