I am guessing you are correct that it would be close to CPM D2 may the best particle metallurgist win LOL Good to see someone else in the market though.
I have knives in l all kinds of steels, but I like the characteristics of D2. If it’s better than D2, I’m all for it. None of my D2 knives have ever rusted and I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest. Thanks 🔪🎸
Hello SMKW, Hey TC, will this metal increase the edge retention over D2? Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving and wishing y'all a Merry Christmas!!! Be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 🙏😇👊

I think magnacut will be the new standard for stainless knife steel and basically replace s30v and s35vn as the gold standard. I'm not sure how the edge retention compares between the s35 and magna but I'm guessing that it's pretty close. What say you?

I don't see anything so special to warrant the price LT Wright is charging for that blade. $325? Until someone can do side by side and show it's worth magnacut prices, nope.

This guy has absolutely no clue about the properties and chemical composition of this steel (or any other). He's a pretender, unwilling to stay in his "lane" when it comes to his ability to critically evaluate the usefulness of a steel type or the process by which it's formed. He's uneducated and can only read from a script, like so many other "experts" who make videos for a living.
Wow! I applaud you because after watching 5 minutes of a video and never having known me, my experience or my education you discerned all of that. That is absolutely incredible and you are apparently a savant. Either that or you sir are a poser hiding behind a keyboard. How does it compare to other steels? Not just D2. How about K390? S45Vn? Magnacut?
"PSB 27 is a premium PM Sprayformed tool steel designed as an upgrade to D2. It combines excellent wear resistance with a high resistance to chipping"
Happy to know about this new steel. Did not know about spray form technology. I love your knife steel videos, TC, keep up the great work!
We love learning about discovering new metals as well!
Sounds like a great steel! Can't wait to see how it works!!
Thanks Mike!
Great video TC
Thanks for watching Franz!
So is this basically the same as CPM D2 then? I know CPM D2 has better performance than regular D2 so I imagine this will be very similar to that.

I’ve got a custom Strider in PSF27 I believe that is from SB specialty metals
Great stuff, will be interesting to use in the future, cheers
Thanks for watching Marc
Super interesting stuff thanks for video

Thanks for watching Randy and we are very excited to see how it holds up under real world use 👍
How is this different from PSF-27? Both are spray formed D2.
Just lost my apex and am looking for a new EDC fixed blade. When are these coming available?

Just bought it yesterday. Paid a little over $350 for it. Really hope it stands up.
Let us know what you think!
Will do a review on it soon
Is this the same steel I've heard called shock steel that is being used on swords?
I want to see Scab at Choirboyz Outdoors test this.
We think he would really dig it!
@@SMKWcom I know he has a reputation for testing a knife.
Because Magnacut is sooo 2023. Great video!!!!

Anytime we can bring a new and interesting knife or steel to the community we will!
@@SMKWcom sounds great 👍. You guys always have the best selection of knives for sure.
Interesting video, I didn't really understand it, but Interesting.
We often have to listen to TC 2 or 3 times to get it all as well lol
Not seeing this on the website. ETA?

Interesting steel. It the world of medicine you currently have a Case Study going on and you’re ready for a clinical trial.
Good comparison

It sounds cool

Are you comparing it only to D2 because of a price comparison? And are you talking about CPM D2?

Is this an automated response, because this did not answer either question... 🤔
Is it microwavable?🤔
We don't suggest even leaving a plastic knife in the microwave
@@SMKWcom 😔
Ah yes.
Remember when 440c was the latest and greatest?
Those were the days.
The US patent was granted in 1916 so quite a few years ago
Was directed to this video from a SMKW email on 1/19/24. Knife is out of stock. 🤦♂️
Always remember that our ancestors conquered whole continents with stone tools and steels knife snobs would sneer at today.
You are not wrong but they also developed better guns, knives, steel, beer, whiskey, medicine, etc to make living easier/better
Very nice TC. Just shillin for LT wright. 😅😂 JK
LT makes a great blade and anytime a new one or new steel comes out we like to let everyone know

Psf27??
Nope, PSB-27
Yeah I'm thinking it's the same thing. Spray form D2. Technically not as good as cpm d2 according to Larrin Thomas's article.
