Death has a 1% chance of hitting the. It goes up by 1% for every debuff on the Ochu, so if you get hit it a few times with deprotect and deshell it'll go up. Also, even after you get rid of the Ochu, don't switch automatically to an all-out assault paradigm. You're going to want snow still working the sentinel while Vanille and your third character take out atleast two of the ochus, then and only then should you drop a sentinel.
Thanks. This worked! I had everything to win, but I swapped fang for snow (more hp) and then I equipped those haste boots to vanille to spam death. After that I alternated between spamming fira/firaga with haste and changing paragims to keep up my health and protection. THANKS
Thanks for the idea, I had the egg after 6-7 fights I think, was able to get in ~ 10 deaths in each fight before Ochu succumbed to Vanille's Death. You might want to throw in a Shroud to get haste for even more Deaths.
Nice. I used the same strategy to take down Neochu early too, except I Summon Hecaton right after killing the Neochu to take out the Picochus and kill whoever's left.
i had heard about this somewhere. i tried it and well i kept getting my ass kicked.. then i was like screw it im blowing a aegisol and a fortisol..that helped alot! was tough but i got lucky with death..then once the big things outta the way you just spam firaga-fire-fire on the picochus (LOL PIKACHU) but always keep snow sent-keep hope medic-and have vanille for medic-ravager-and saboteur on 3 different paradigms..good luck! BTW good video spfreak
u did it pretty quick, i did this after beating boss once and when i could return to gran pulse again. it would be read nice to get it at your level, and g.egg sure helps alot by miles. ur method is painful but it's the only way lol i did the same
I read about the Belladonna Wand in the Strategy Book. Also positive spells on Vanille can increase the chance of killing the enemy. Yesterday i have both killed the Adaman Taimai and Adaman Testudos (German Version) with the Dead Cast.
Whoa...This is actually a good idea. I would sit there and actually try to beat it. Thank you for posting this video. Since I'm a little stronger than you are there, it should be a little harder for him to kill me.
As a strategy for after getting death to stick, switch to a paradigm that has Snow as a sentinel, Vanille as a Ravager, and your third character as a Commando. (Unless it's Hope, in which case dual Ravager would probably work better.) Stagger and kill, heal up, then work on the next one, rinse and repeat.
read the description as to when you can get death for vanille - its in the crystalarium. as for speeding this up, you can use haste (via shoes or synergist casting haste), and also if you imperil the neochu, death will become more likely to hit.
I'm totally gonna try this tomorrow!! I didn't have a strategy when I fought the one in Titan's Trials (MIssion 45?), and got slaughtered after I managed to take his health down to 50%. :c It was a sad day. I hate that bastard. I thought to myself, "Oh, hey, I took down an Ochu easily, Neochu? No problem!!" Noooope. But now that I know the "death" strategy I'll try my hand at it again!!!
ah good ol' memories... defeating neochu for the first time with death... then forget paying attention to those other things and get killed... good times, good times...
question which equipment did you use I know you use the Melbourne one but what did you put on snow that's the question because all the stuff is too low level to use I saw you use the attack attrition I've tried that not even for trees that works believe me I tried that I even did what you suggested with that I couldn't do it four tries 5 tries or 6 so I'm not sure how you able to pull that off are you really but that's why I'm asking what equipment did you put on hope to protect them plus you need the equipment the pets no from that quick
@omerz007 it doesnt matter what chapter/just teleport to oerba[if u cant then just take the giant elevator from where u fought the fal cie on top of the big tower] and go to oerba and take on the mission/////if it isnt letting u go back then just keep doing the storyline until u reach the place where u are about to face the final boss/////also go through the portal that takes u grand pulse[its really near the place where u get transported to the white room] hope this helps
It took me over an 100 hours to beta the main story, but that's because I battled on Gran Pulse a lot and was 25% stronger than average people when they get to the final boss, which was TOO easy for me.
The Ochu also has an attack he does after about a minute into the fight, that even snow as a sentinel can't survive right after you beat Barthandelus. If death doesn't stick in the first minute, it's instant game over and you get to try again. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get the Growth Egg after I beat Barthandelus. It's not that hard, you just need perseverance.
@Masamuned you have the get the chocobos and go to that same area where you fight the neochu in a corner you fight a bunch of those little seeds and an ochu beat it and he activate the cieth stone to fight neochu :)
Did that death spell actually used death? Every time I use it and other monsters it's only 1000 damage. I never knew it actually worked as the real death final fantasy series are
If it's done just a 1000HP damage, chances are the enemy has really low HP, or your MP stat is really low. Death has a 1% chance of hitting against foes, but debuffing the enemy raises the percentage by 1. If it doesn't inflict Insta-Death, it performs damage based on how high your MP stat is. Higher MP = Higher Damage.
I had that happen to me. XD My solution was Combat Clinic and pray they don't kill me, then have Fang go Com, whilst Lightning and Hope heal, once the picochus start dying it gets easier. :D
Literally took two attempts at death to kill only to realize after that I didn't have a paradigm set to kill the piccohus. Luckily I went from healing to damaged back and forth and got it done
I avoided the death spam trick, but apparently, it's near impossible to do without already having beaten the game...so I did just there, took 10 tries, but I did it. And the picochus took ages. :') Btw, your vanille is reeealllly weak to do only 4K damage/death casting :O
@PinkMerr Well you see... death has a base 1% chance of working. Each debuff on the enemy adds 1% and I think the more saboteurs there are (in the current paradigm), and the higher the levels of the saboteurs, there is more. So 3 times will definitely not cut it.
Mhm. I'm not sure they actually increase the chances, but debuffing does increase it as well. For every debuff that is on the Ochu, the chance of Death hitting goes up by 1%. I can't remember which debuff it is, I believe it to be deprotect, but he's vulnerable to one and you can almost always get it to hit within 5 casts which automatically brings your chances up to 2%. It may not seem like much, but that's *theoretically* 50 casts of death instead of 100.
On my recent playthrough I managed to nab it when Vanille had around 7k health, but I used Lightning and Fang with her as Sentinel and Medic once I'd finished spamming Death, then I just switched between that and some form of offensive paradigm to kill the remaining Neochu (well, the white ones)
I did this without Aegisol. Took me four tries and on the fourth try it took me two tries to kill it with death. I was surprised that even worked with the luck I have.
he'd be less of a pain if his minions didn't accompany him, and i just realized i used lightning as a medic and she only knows the default cures, not the perportional cures. hell, even snow knows a perportional cure and that's not in his default paradigm.
I just beat Barthandelus the second time today and I'm trying to go back to get this mission but the warehouse that I came through is closed and has no means of opening (the one with 3 Taxims cie'th in there). Help?
To all those who will bother reading my comment, I killed Neochu with my first try of using Death on him. :) My paradigms are Attrition, Combat Clinic, Relentless Assault and Tortoise. I used Vanille, Snow and Hope. Equip: Vanille - Beladonna Wand lv 1, Sorcerer mark lv 1, 2 General's Belt lv 1 Snow - Umbra lv , Mythril Bangle lv 1, 2 General's Belt lv 1 Hope - Vidofnir lv 1, Diamond Bangle lv 1, General's Belt lv 1, Royal Armlet lv 1 If you guys want to know more, just pm me Use both buff sols
@Crazyness1994 If you've already beaten the game, you go to the Archylte Steppe from Orphans Cradle, you can go back to the 10th chapters map I think. I did it and got lost actually lol. But coming directly off of the warp, if you go right to the next map and just keep going you'll end up at that map. It's not big. But unfortunately on my game, that Cith Stone isn't usable. :/
I've never gotten this item mostly because I hate using cheap tricks such as death and wanted to wait until I was actually capable of taking this thing down not like you absolutely need it though I didn't have much of a problem with chapter 12. Orphan's Cradle had some tough ones but where is the fun if there is no challenge.
I killed this guy on my third try doing it the exact same way this person disk it. I quickly figured out the death ability Vanille uses gets an instant death on random once in a whole so it's basically luck. You have to get lucky enought to get the instant death than picking off the little guys is a piece of cake.
@omerz007 one of the three floating ladies makes a portal that you can go back to gran pulse. from there hopefully you did the mission that lets you port back to oerba.
Omg thank u for ti video thi help me get the growth egg and i did step by step how u did it... a first iwa s afraid bc when I see his hp I'm like no fuck man but once I ket using death I was so relieved I was holding my breathe the entir time lol
Does this work on the Xbox version? I've tried the fight dozens of times with this, but he seems to be immune to the instant-death effect... He just kills me with Screech every time.
That feeling when death finally works on this tub of lard. It's heavenly.
>"soon"
>69 hours playtime
i love that this is a guide is directly were im at in the game..when others provide false hope with their maxed out characters
Thanks man !!It worked for me, but after many time of retry lol(Imperil can increase a success rate of death)
5:30 When you're late for a show...
"I have to see this..."
"Ah!"
"Is it...really over?"
It works. Just did it last night. Took like I think maybe 50 castings of death? I probably died/restarted 15 times at least, but I did it
Death has a 1% chance of hitting the. It goes up by 1% for every debuff on the Ochu, so if you get hit it a few times with deprotect and deshell it'll go up. You're going to want snow still working the sentinel while Vanille and your third character take out atleast two of the ochus, then and only then should you drop a sentinel.
This guide helped me a lot. I did the same thing, killed it in less than 4 tries. Great work!
I remember killing this boss since 6th grade, ahh good times.
Thanks. This worked! I had everything to win, but I swapped fang for snow (more hp) and then I equipped those haste boots to vanille to spam death. After that I alternated between spamming fira/firaga with haste and changing paragims to keep up my health and protection. THANKS
thx for the tip man. Without this, i wouldn't have gotten the growth egg so soon
Thanks for the idea, I had the egg after 6-7 fights I think, was able to get in ~ 10 deaths in each fight before Ochu succumbed to Vanille's Death. You might want to throw in a Shroud to get haste for even more Deaths.

Cheers man :) got mine this evening!! Time for some ultimate farming!!
u did it pretty quick, i did this after beating boss once and when i could return to gran pulse again. it would be read nice to get it at your level, and g.egg sure helps alot by miles. ur method is painful but it's the only way lol i did the same
I put Deshell and Deprotect and use Hope as a Synergist at the beggining. Nice video.
constantly shifting between rentless assault, combat clinic and SEN/SAB/SYN worked for me. It's not the easiest thing to do but it works.
I read about the Belladonna Wand in the Strategy Book. Also positive spells on Vanille can increase the chance of killing the enemy. Yesterday i have both killed the Adaman Taimai and Adaman Testudos (German Version) with the Dead Cast.

in my 5th try i did it and got 5 Stars LOL wow. Thank you so much!
Mom bought the game and the xbox a few days before my birthday last year and i just finnished the game for like two weeks ago.
I'm totally gonna try this tomorrow!! I didn't have a strategy when I fought the one in Titan's Trials (MIssion 45?), and got slaughtered after I managed to take his health down to 50%. :c It was a sad day. I hate that bastard. it worked!!! Finally, I died so many times until I found this. Thanks:-)
ah good ol' memories... defeating neochu for the first time with death... then forget paying attention to those other things and get killed... good times, good times...
I did the death trick too but I had Fang as sentinel and I cast imperil on the neochu...got him on my 3rd go...thanks
question which equipment did you use I know you use the Melbourne one but what did you put on snow that's the question because all the stuff is too low level to use I saw you use the attack attrition I've tried that not even for trees that works believe me I tried that I even did what you suggested with that I couldn't do it four tries 5 tries or 6 so I'm not sure how you able to pull that off are you really but that's why I'm asking what equipment did you put on hope to protect them plus you need the equipment the pets no from that quick
i cant believe it will be two years since this came out in march.
@omerz007 it doesnt matter what chapter/just teleport to oerba[if u cant then just take the giant elevator from where u fought the fal cie on top of the big tower] and go to oerba and take on the mission/////if it isnt letting u go back then just keep doing the storyline until u reach the place where u are about to face the final boss/////also go through the portal that takes u grand pulse[its really near the place where u get transported to the white room] hope this helps

ohhh this death sound ... i remember always when i heard the sound comn comn comnnnnn oh fuck
I've had this game for 3 years! Still stuck on chp 11, I still love this game but kinda wished I had the guidebook lol, so close to finishing it.
@Masamuned you have the get the chocobos and go to that same area where you fight the neochu in a corner you fight a bunch of those little seeds and an ochu beat it and he activate the cieth stone to fight neochu :)
Thank you so much, now I am able to finish the game quickly ;)
Question, can you aquire more growth eggs so that they can be stacked to multiply your cp even further? Thanks in advance
Did that death spell actually used death? Every time I use it and other monsters it's only 1000 damage. I never knew it actually worked as the real death final fantasy series are
Team 10 Jake PAULERS probably a low chance to instant kill an enemy
RadicalNateDogg I Nate Wong 1% chance. 2% if you used imperil

@Masamuned Did you try casting Raise on it good sir?
I had that happen to me. XD My solution was Combat Clinic and pray they don't kill me, then have Fang go Com, whilst Lightning and Hope heal, once the picochus start dying it gets easier. :D
Literally took two attempts at death to kill only to realize after that I didn't have a paradigm set to kill the piccohus. Luckily I went from healing to damaged back and forth and got it done
My question y didnt u use the belladonna wand, or better yet the malboro wand? I already hav the nalboro wand and i just started chapter 9
YOU'RE GENIUS !!!!! THANKS MAN :)
It worked!!!! On my third used imperil a whole bunch like three times then it worked
Thank you so much! Finally beat this thing using this strategy!
Thank you for sharing that. Really helps, I usually had 3 sabs hacking at it but good to be assured.
Took me 3 try's and got it.
really?
Yup.
I was thinking Death was never gonna work until I saw it happen here. lol
Alhamdulillah, i made it. Thanks to you.
I avoided the death spam trick, but apparently, it's near impossible to do without already having beaten the game...so I did just there, took 10 tries, but I did it. And the picochus took ages. :') Btw, your vanille is reeealllly weak to do only 4K damage/death casting :O
when u aquired this mission did u hace missions 1-14 beat as well?
thank you so much i really needed that
@thebaconboy858 Well, what's happening? Do you go to where the Neochu is supposed to be, but it doesn't appear?
@PinkMerr Well you see... death has a base 1% chance of working. Each debuff on the enemy adds 1% and I think the more saboteurs there are (in the current paradigm), and the higher the levels of the saboteurs, there is more. So 3 times will definitely not cut it.

YEAH! He died the second time I casted Death :D The rest is piece of cake :D
It's like Vanille was designed for this battle, or this battle was designed to make players explore the Death skill.
Imperil then death worked on the second try :)

That worked out nicely. Thank you ^_^
couldn't you use the belladonna wand or malboro wand to make it easier to kill the neochu
Thanks dude awesome vid youre my hero
I'm a little confused. I checked Vanilles crystarium, and she doesn't have the death crystal. Does she get it when you finish a mission or something?
No way someone can beat this game in ONE day, thats impossable to see it through.....
this battle was fun, did it in one try without dying, you need to go on the offensive more
what missions do i have to do for the cieth stone to rise so i can accept the challenge?
7 people weren't able to see this through!
I just beat Barthandelus the second time today and I'm trying to go back to get this mission but the warehouse that I came through is closed and has no means of opening (the one with 3 Taxims cie'th in there). Help?
Is there anything to improve the chances of 'Death'? Coz it took me 28 minute to kill an ochu once...
thank you man now i have to train both
one question... If I'm in chapter 13 and there I teleport to gran pulse, and take this mission then can I get this egg too?
to make it easier you should have Vanille's magic above 1000 points and she should have the debuffing weapon also.
Thanks for the upload. :D
@TheLukerules96 you have to put it on the party leader if u dont u will just get the double cp for the person that you equipped the growth egg with
To all those who will bother reading my comment, I killed Neochu with my first try of using Death on him. :) My paradigms are Attrition, Combat Clinic, Relentless Assault and Tortoise. So if I do all the missions I can go back to all the past locations on the game?
@MA12381 They come eventually when you learn ability called Accessory from Crystarium.
where is this place at in the beginning its stunning! please tell me I just want to know
+Hailey Snyder it's Oerba
Thank you so much!
It is! Isn't it? It's my favourite place in this game.
Carolina Jaramillo it's pretty beautiful, no doubt that.
+Fagner Jacob pretty beautiful place but the background music always makes me sleepy
doesnt it go faster if you use deceptisol? then you can stagger quickly
I've never gotten this item mostly because I hate using cheap tricks such as death and wanted to wait until I was actually capable of taking this thing down not like you absolutely need it though I didn't have much of a problem with chapter 12. Mine were overpowered and it was way harder for me to kill him. I was on tier one as well though. Any idea why?
is it possible to go "back" to that town?
i'm at chapter 13 and i don't have the egg
FINALLY! got it! I knew it was over once I got em to < 4 picochus... FINALLY!!!!!! :)
I killed this guy on my third try doing it the exact same way this person disk it. Awesome video. I suppose it is sooooper nooby but it did work. It took four tries and it was a tough battle lol Anyway, great idea! Thank you!
How do you teleport back to Oerba, and Taejins Tower?
I've already beat Barthendelus in Oerba but the stone wasn't active when I went back
You have to do mission 14 for the chocobos then it activates the stone
Thanks! helped a lot!
just to say: It can be done!! andmy level was lower than those of OP. Just keep trying and have good luck :)
He must have been playing in Dragon Balls' spirit room.
Can you kill the rtarded babies first or do they respawn
Does this work on the Xbox version? I've tried the fight dozens of times with this, but he seems to be immune to the instant-death effect... He just kills me with Screech every time.
Ive tried seven battles en with beldona wand still haven't landed the deathly kilk
does death work better if your stronger?? or is it just luck
