I have one blanket I could not figure out it was in long strips & I decided to watch your utube rectangle granny blanket when you finished the turning to start on the other side I broke out in tears my grandmothers blanket 😂 Thank You Thank You you are awesome keep up the good work like my granny you make it look so easy!! I know it's practice but after suffering a stroke I tend to get a death grip on my yarn I have been known to break it but with patience & practice I'm getting my groove!! Great tut Mickey as always! For those that are going to ask.... the pattern calls for 12 7 oz skeins of solid, 2 ea of 6 colors. (Or substitute 3 skeins (5oz) of the variegated or umber for each solid color replaced.) So divide the number of colors into 12 and you will know how much of each to buy. Also, since you can sometimes get a great bargain on one pounders, if you are doing 3 colors try 2 one pound skeins instead of 4 7oz. Happy hooking!!!

    How many stitches should the beginning chain consist of for a queen sized bed?

    • @ec4145
      @ec4145 8 месяцев назад

      I cant give you an exact number, but just my best guess and reasoning.
      Since longer means skinnier, contrary to what you would expect when trying to make something bigger, you would want to make the foundation chain shorter. A king size bed is basically a square, and equal to two xl twins, so...I'd cut it in half to make a king, and I'd guess you want it to be around 3/5ths to 3/4ths as long as the twin foundation chain to make a queen.
      Not sure for this one, but for other granny rectangles I've done (and the math seems to check out), the foundation chain needs to be factors of 3 plus 2.

    Hi Mikey...thanks for a great tutorial. Can I just ask a quick question. When I make the traditional granny square I never put a "chain 1" space between my 3 double crochets. Can I do that for this pattern as well? Or is there a need for the chain 1 space, or just personal preference. Thanks again ;)

    • @craftychrystal7913
      @craftychrystal7913 8 лет назад

      +Renee Wallace Renee, i have done it both ways and i believe it is a matter of preference. It depends on how open you want it. But you will use a little more yarn to make the same size.

      Toni did you ever find how many stories you start off with ? I am want to make my son a queen size blanket

    • @Toni-fn1vt
      @Toni-fn1vt 7 лет назад

      Check out the link I included in my follow-up comment. While it says the queen should be done as a typical square granny, I'm sure the double could be the starter and just slightly enlarged. My previous thought on doing a granny that way have changed after seeing my son sleep in both a double & queen. The kid is too tall & needs a king to fit his long legs, so a king size blanket will eventually have to be made!
