OMG, the foundation chain plus the first row of single crochet makes so much sense! It stabilizes the center and makes it easier to continue with the granny stitches. I'm so glad I found this video.

The first color you did a chain 2 to form your corner spaces. The second color you did a chain 2 forming that first corner but from then on you were using a chain 3 when making your corner spaces. So which should it be when making the corners: a chain 2 or a chain 3 ?

OMG WHERR HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE 😊😊😅😅 I was taught crochet as a child left it didnt pick it up again until my 20s thrn I had my babies and I had no time between work and family. Now I am a grandma and I managed to make each of my grandbabies a lil balnket when they were born but I didn't have a clue what tension, or the weight of the in yarn or a stitch marker. That was all Greek to me. Well tutorials have been my teachers and let's say I would probably get a c right about now if I graded myself BUT I am hopeful. I followed you along with the tutorial and on h my word I did it first try! WOO HOO HUGS❤. I am ready to start the next row but I am using a variegated yarn and now I am going to cut it so I can flip my piece cause I sure don't. want it crooked. 😊. So in case I have a melt down know that your a great teacher and I'm keep up the great work. I will be back as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say 😅 I know I am a nut a happy one though 😊

@@crochetmelovely I was wondering more about how I would continue with row 3 when I have to flip the rectangle. When I flip it the way the corner stitch is facing at 7:00 is hard to work with I feel I have to slip stitch across so that I can comfortably work in the back (which Ive tried…didn’t go well 💀) I hope this makes sense cause I couldn’t think of a better way to ask the question 😭
