Dude, i suffer from the same disease as Mick Mars, Ankylosing Spondylitis. I'm only 52 and it kicks the shit out of me on a daily basis. The fact that he's 71 and is up there with a guitar strapped on playing for hours every night is amazing. He's a tough old man, no doubt about it!
When Mick is gone, he will be hard to replace. He is the Crue sound. It would be like replacing Angus. Mick is incredible, like the walking dead but he still puts out some serious sound. A very good player.
Best commentary on music out there. I laughed out loud when Justin did his impression of someone watching Mick Mars tread water on guitar before taking off with his next flurry of notes up higher on the neck. Brilliant.
Vince hasn't been "perfect" or "near perfect" since 1987 and I don't expect that from him anymore. It is what it is. He's going to sing every third word of most songs and allow the audience to sing the rest. The rest of the band will usually sound really tight, so you're not missing out on much. Go for the spectacle and keep your expectations at ground level when it comes to Vince's performance.
Saw them real close up in 2015. I absolutely loved it, and thought he did a good job. Now, watching people's phone footage of that show, it doesn't seem so great. On the night, it was fkn great!
Old men of rock. Jeez I'm 59 and enjoyed ALL these bands in my yoof but seeing them now, I'm just glad I can view the 'spectacle' from the comfort of my sofa.
I personally think Vince did great, he was using that football pitch of a stage to run from one end to the other to interact as best he could with the crowd. And I'm in your camp when it comes to not expecting perfection in live gig's, after all we are just human and he's up there singing his little hart out. I think all the bands did really well, and for me 80% was just nostalgic watching them do what they love.
We saw the Stadium Tour this past weekend in Jacksonville. It was AMAZING. The music, the spectacle, everything about it. We sat through two weather delays and still had the best time. Don’t know what everyone is complaining about. (Side note-kickstart my heart was their closing song so yes, he was a bit winded)
As your videos continue, I see the wheels turning in your head as you slowly work out your theme song to its full conclusion. A tidy 2 minute number ranging from tears to joy to utter seriousness. Plus I feel the solo would smoke!
Hey Justin, would be great to hear your views on Def Leppard. How the first 4 albums were the best. Rick Allen’s car accident, the death of Steve Clark and how their sound changed after Vivian Campbell joined the band (His time in Dio, Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy) Maybe how they’re currently doing playing LIVE and how Phil Collen can’t keep his shirt on, although I guess he’s copying you!🤘😀🤘
Viv has very little to do with their sound since Steve left us. He’s a hired hand- He’s not going to rock the boat. Definitely a massive talent who is underutilized in that band. I’ve been to many live shows where he occasionally runs off the leash with some of his solos which are incredibly true to the mood of the song, but in recent years has stayed extremely true to the original. The truth is much of Def Leppard’s signature sound died with Steve. That’s not Vivian’s fault.
Keep in mind too, Kickstart My Heart was towards the end of their set. He's out of breath and exhausted at this point. He's sounded much better at the start of the gig.
I was so impressed by the Citi Field show, all of the bands were fully on their game. The Crüe set was astounding loud and so bass heavy that even with ear plugs in I had trouble making anything else out (we were on Nicki’s side about twenty rows back.) But due credit to Vince and the rest of ‘em, they really kicked ass and the crowd was going nuts. That’s what it’s about.
My friends and I grew up on Permission to Land and to this day I annoy my children, trying to imitate your voice. So kickass that you can be my favorite RUclipsr too!
I remember being a teenager being into metal more than like 80's glam bands. Though I did like Van Halen. My bands were: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, AC/DC(hard rock I know). Also love bands such as Judas Priest, Black Sabbath. Saw Iron Maiden twice and was lucky enough to see Metallica. AC/DC live was something else though, just amps turned to 11 and got on with it. Simplified it so well and that's what I love most of all. And how fucking great is the rhythm between cliff Williams and Phil Rudd?

I went to the show in Cleveland. I personally think Def Leopard was amazing. Motley music was on point,Vince struggles and it shows. Still worth every penny. I do and did take into consideration he's in his 60s. Great concert.

To be fair though, if it wasnt for youtube serving up videos like this id have no idea that bands like GnR etc are still trying to do it. I guess the die hard true fans will appreciate them.
I saw Motley Crue on the Carnival Of Sins Tour, when they came through Ontario, right after they released Red, White, And Crue album. Everyone was shitting on them back then and it seems nothing has changed. From then to now, Vince looks good, and he sounds about the same, which especially for a 61-year-old currently if freaking awesome. And a couple of more things, Vince was flat in parts when he recorded Kick Start My Heart back on The Dr. Feel Good album, listen to it again if you don't believe me, as for the sound at the venue, maybe don't record or sit under the goddam amp, you will always have the sound go over you unless you're by the wall on the floor to get that reverb. The Crue are still killing it
I'm just about familiar with the darkness from the song a thing called love and I think it's a great song. Just recently stumbled on this channel and the first thing that hit me was. This guy must have the same DNA as Freddie Mercury and should be in queen now instead of that other guy. Even the intro to the show is so much like Freddie singing.

The issue is, are the punters getting value for money? People paid $300/400/500 plus for their tickets and Vince has had over two years to get into shape. I used to be the biggest Crue fan, but they really are mercenary when it comes to taking the money and running (the only running Vince does, clearly).
Age shows it's wear, you have to remember that some musicians live style in the past affects their performance of today too. The price is for a 4 band show, right? Apart from that, Vince wasn't on pair with some of the really good vocalists singing live in the 80's either.
@@JoeBaermann Personally, and it's just my opinion, but I don't think it matters how many big acts are on the bill. Many fans originally bought the tickets because they thought it was a Crue headlining tour, not a co-headline tour. Regardless, they are (co) top billing and Vince should IMO, show more professionalism or at least, more respect to the punters. Having said that, many American Crue fans lap up this shit anyway, so what the hell do I know. Lol.
For your next Q&A video: I’m a big fan of The Darkness, especially your vocal performance and guitar work….any specific reason why you’ve been drawn to LP Customs?
Just take a moment to appreciate that no-one (generally) expects a professional sportsperson to perform in the same way at 60+ as they did in their 20s and 30s. That kind of performance is just as physical and mental. And more fun 🤘
Was at the show in Denver last night…Vince sounded good…a lot better than he has in years. It’s probably due to the background singers and production, but I only remember him struggling on Kickstart at the end of the show. Kicking ass for 60yrs old for sure!
Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs... A great friend to me when trying to impress girls at college. Looks like a really fun concert, even if Vince is struggling to get up there a bit. Many thanks for the upload... "What's wrong with being sexy?".
If you want it perfect, go home and listen to the records. The great thing about live performances are that you never know what will happen. Enjoy these classic bands. They are awesome at an age that a lot of folks are retiring. At least they aren't lip syncing.
@@jamesrudd8705 I didn't say it was perfect or even close to it. In fact I said if you wanted PERFECT listen to the recordings. And, what is adequate? Are you comparing them with performances they gave 40 years ago? That's like saying Nolan Ryan should still be able to go out and throw a 90MPH fastball, or Joe Montana a 60 yard TD pass or Jerry Rice to get under it and catch it. If you pay your money to go to this show, and you have basic math skills, you should be able to deduce that what you cannot expect is 25 year old Vince Neal in full voice hitting every note he did back when they were playing the Troubadour and the Starwood. What you CAN expect is a bunch of guys bringing you the best possible versions of songs that sold millions of records and bring back great memories for those of us who were actually there the first time around.
The guitar commercial that popped up is hilarious. Dude suggesting you can be good at guitar without practicing. Lol. I do perceive something not quite so "on" about this performance. The xl stage definitely adds a bit of awkward. Much love to you Mr. Hawkins ♡!
The beauty of the stadium tour is that def Leppard rocks hard, and then everyone is completely shitfaced by the time Crue comes out and it's a great time. Awesome show!
Hey Justin. I'm here once again to request your viewership and review of a certain rock band named 'Interpol'. It would be an interesting deal to see you break their game down. Enjoying your work so far!
It ain't Tommy Lee upon the drums in this film but Tommy Clufetos who stood in when TL had to rest due to a few broken ribs. Awesome drummer, I saw him with Sabbath at their last ever gig.
Hello Justin! Darkness fan since the OG days here! Just wanted to ask if you were a fan of Pink floyd at all and would they be in a future video? Keep on being you x
Hey Justin, great channel very funny. Thank you. You might have an opinion on Father John Misty? You might wanna start on his debut or his second record ILYH and then Pure Comedy.
This was pretty much my assessment when seeing the live show. Vince did a pretty good job of singing up in the right vocal range the whole night. He was off pitch a fair amount. One thing he did better compared to the videos I've seen from a couple of years ago was to hold his notes out longer. He used to cut notes short and the phrasing sounded strange: "kick sta... meh... hea..." He was a little lost in the mix with the lower frequencies being pretty overbearing. The choruses were covered up by the backing singers (or maybe a recording) doing the heavy lifting. Overall nothing stuck out as being awful and he put in a very energetic show with a fair amount of talent to show off.
@@richardburchett sounded like shit in the 80s ok I guess he signed better in the early 2000s lol saw them live in 91 or 92 it was coming to an end but he sounded on point get as long as guns is performing and on time who cares right
Vince Neil was never exactly putting on a master-class vocally, even back in their prime. He's gone through an awfully rough patch in the last decade, and it's nice to see him getting back to a place of competency.
I want to see the Stadium Tour now. I was concerned that Crue were finished but hell I'd go see them based on that review! Joan Jett, Poison, Crue and The Lepps would be an awesome day out.
Last thing at night my mind sings " Justin Hawkins rides agaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnn" and I wake up " Justin Hawkins rides agaaaaiiiin" , then I arrive at work!! All day!! It's a hook!!
Same! I've started changing the words and singing the melody to other things in my world, like singing to the cat and using his (the cat's name) More hooky than a pirate's hand! Thank the universe Justin Hawkins Rides Again!
I use to give Vince all kinds of hell. When you're not even singing half the words and half of the words you are singing sound like a secret language children would use, you're being lazy and are taking peoples hard earned money. Now I just find Vince endearing. You can't help but root for the guy. He's a 61 year old that put his body through hell. It is really tough losing weight at that age and the endurance it takes to get around that stage night after night is not an easy task. He is singing better and singing more words than he has in the past 25 years and in the original key. The dude is a legend and I think most of these haters are more pissed that he hasn't crashed and burned as they hoped he would. What a sad existence for such a person to be having a rough go to bring you pleasure. On a side note Justine, I just watched an older video of The Darkness on RUclips. It was the one where some tool threw a beer at you as you were strapping on the white Les Paul Custom. Oh how I wanted to jump through this screen and save my dream guitar from hitting the floor. 😭 You handled that situation with great class my man.
The ticket prices for this were crazy. The first 5 rows were in the $5,000 range. Most of the floor behind that was $2,500. This show looks preposterously expensive. Imagine the electricity bill for all those lights alone. They have to pay the Nasty Habits a livable wage and provide good health insurance to their team of gaffers, etc, etc, etc. So much security and logistics to manage. And that's just for one of the four major acts. So I get it. However, $350 is probably the most I've ever spent on a single ticket for myself for a concert. A 3-day Coachella ticket is $500. I was excited when the stadium tour was announced but I couldn't justify paying that to sit in the very back row of a huge baseball stadium. I might have paid $500 to get in the first 20 rows but they were selling for 6 figures. It blows my mind that they were able to sell it out. There's a lot of rich people out there. And they fucking love Mötley Crüe.
Give credit to where credit is due > To the accountants, mngrs, lawyers & brainwashers in the Crue camp; Other than that - Justin's commentary is spot on

Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs... A great friend to me when trying to impress girls at college. Looks like a really fun concert, even if Vince is struggling to get up there a bit. Many thanks for the upload... "What's wrong with being sexy?".
Oh my god the head band bit being a cover for an ever receding hairline was too good
I thought you'd focus on the "Whoa's" as there are plenty in Kickstart My Heart! 9:12 😂
If you want it perfect, go home and listen to the records. The great thing about live performances are that you never know what will happen. Enjoy these classic bands. They are awesome at an age that a lot of folks are retiring. At least they aren't lip syncing.
Damn straight
Perfect? This isn't even adequate. Cringe worthy at best. This is just awful.
Hawkins ♡!
You fixed the title Awesome….. I enjoy your channel keep
up the great content 😀
I’ve been going to see Mötley since 85. Vince did great . Not an easy task. Now I’m almost 51. Rock on Justin.🤘
A friend of mine always used to sing to me stella was a diver and she was always down, cause my name is stella 🤣
@@stellaotto5654HAHA. Perhaps my favourite song of their discography, what a coincidence. You're lucky.
Ooh, I second this request!
Vince Meal looks and sounds A LOT better than the clips I've seen from him in the past years.
You're a very kind person.
It ain't Tommy Lee upon the drums in this film but Tommy Clufetos who stood in when TL had to rest due to a few broken ribs. Awesome drummer, I saw him with Sabbath at their last ever gig.
Not a fan of Motley and that whole 80's 'hair metal' scene. But "The Dirt" is probably the best, if not funniest rock biogs I've seen.
Vince Neil: 🎶 kickstart my heart 🎵 … no really, kickstart my heart 🪦
Kicksta ma ha
Neil was good? Lol if he was good then axl sounds like he did in the 80s Vince fork in him he is done!!! Been done
@@TrilogyNjStorm What show were you at? Btw Axl sounded like shit live in the 80s
@@richardburchett sounded like shit in the 80s ok I guess he signed better in the early 2000s lol saw them live in 91 or 92 it was coming to an end but he sounded on point get as long as guns is performing and on time who cares right
@@TrilogyNjStorm I saw GnR in 88 and 17. World of difference
Vince Neil was never exactly putting on a master-class vocally, even back in their prime. He's gone through an awfully rough patch in the last decade, and it's nice to see him getting back to a place of competency.
Never really liked this band but I have a shit ton of respect for mick mars
I want to see the Stadium Tour now. I was concerned that Crue were finished but hell I'd go see them based on that review! Joan Jett, Poison, Crue and The Lepps would be an awesome day out.
The expanding headband as the hairline recedes is brilliant!
It cracked me up too. Just genius.
lol ever expanding headband
I met them when they did that infamous tour with Ozzy in 84. Bark at the Moon/Shout at the Devil Christ I'm old 😂
Last thing at night my mind sings " Justin Hawkins rides agaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnn" and I wake up " Justin Hawkins rides agaaaaiiiin" , then I arrive at work!! All day!! It's a hook!!
Same! I've started changing the words and singing the melody to other things in my world, like singing to the cat and using his (the cat's name) More hooky than a pirate's hand! Thank the universe Justin Hawkins Rides Again!
@@witch_haunts_ghost it is, I sing to my dogs : " Mr Zeus" and " Babadadink" ! In Justin Hawkins style 😎 x
@@pumpkinpumpkin2077 Hahaha! I love it! And I'm certain our pets love it too....how could they not?!
The Band played brilliant Vince s voice isn’t the best Poison was the best they played amazing x
I saw Motley in 2005 on the Carnival of Sins tour and it was one of the best rock shows ive ever seen. Mick Mars wails!!!
Agreed !!
They should really retired after that
The ticket prices for this were crazy.
Thumbs up for the intro alone :)
Give credit to where credit is due > To the accountants, mngrs, lawyers & brainwashers in the Crue camp; Other than that - Justin's commentary is spot on
Brilliant commentary!
Saw them in florida couple weeks ago and thought they were incredible
Niki six the winner! Lol.. Brilliant.Doesnt matter if you're in the garage band or a potential Rock and roll Hall of famer, sometimes the spinal tap ending is necessary
that acoustic you have sounds great Justin.
Hey Justin, use your Lowestoftian magic to bring back Stornoway. They rock big time, just listen to Watching Birds. Failing that ask Eldritch for the fourth album (We are the same Suzanne, Still are classic rock). In your hands, sir. Do not disappoint my man!
What Justin says at a bit after 3:03. Rock n roll is meant be a bit sloppy. Perfection is not desirable.
