The D9 is such a monster, especially in the hands of a competent pilot. Imagine being an Allied bomber pilot and seeing one of those things hurtle past you, obliterating the ship next to you and zoom climbing to set up for another pass.
Outnumbered and at an energy disadvantage - fw 190 nightmare fuel there. You did well to win this fight! Also it's funny I find I also pull up in head on passes a lot, which accounts for most of my collisions. I'm not sure why but it's always a bad idea.
I like the gyro. I find it more accurate at range than the allied sight. It also forces me to fly the D-9 to its advantages. If I use the Revi sight, I find myself getting sucked into turn fights.
The D-9 has much greater performance but you still fly it basically the same way. If you like the Antons but just wish they were a lot faster and didn't suck at high altitude, the Dora is your plane. If you're terrible with the Antons or hate flying them, I'm sorry to say the Dora is not going to make you a convert.
The 1.42 ata Fw 190 A is competitive/dominant, depending on the skill of the pilot, until 1944. 1944-45, the A-8 and the D-9 are required to be competitive.
Had Hitler not fouled up by insisting that the ME-262 become a bomber, and wasted a year in that role, and instead listened to General Adolf Galland, the jet could have been in production as a fighter in 1943. The ME-262 shot down as many Mustangs as it did B-17's. The Luftwaffe could have sent the 262's after Allied escort fighters, and the FW-190's and Me-109's after the Allied bombers. Would have been carnage.
I'm not a Axis fan at all, but good shooting. I'm surprised you didn't buy it going head on, furthermore 2 Mustangs and they couldn't get a hit??? Good video

Beautiful outro shots. My favorite old bird.
so rare to see someone using gyro gunsight on the D-9 XD
Haha, true. I use it mainly because I really like the style of the reticle and I find it satisfying when I get hits.

Well done...nice. Wish i could perform this well. Greetings Fred Connor
Kurt Tank designed a beast...
How could you spot the Mustangs, all I can see is blue sky...
It's because of the video's quality, in-game you'll be able to spot them.
Is the D-9 worth getting? I'm not much of a 190 player because I find the late war A models to be completely outclassed by Allied fighters.
its the only focke wulf with an mw50 boost which gives it a great amount of extra power
the bf109 g14 and k4 also have it so its 100% worth it
Yes get it, it's the only 190 that does well at high alts lol all the other 190s are dogshit

@@Viper-dk2xe The Fw 190 A's BMW radial engines were stretched to their limits at 30000 feet...

Seen a D9 in person at the Flying Heritage Museum in Washington.

Nicely flown!
Is this flying with a VR or head tracking ?
Head tracking (TrackIR)
headons = recipe for disaster
judging based on the spitfire video you looked back to see if the pilot bailed out huh? So you can turn around to kill him again huh??? WAR CRIME
No, just wanted to make sure the plane went down.
Hahahahahaha no honor!!!
Is This IL2 remaster? My il2 doesn't look that good…
Dora the Exploder 😎
OK I'm out. 😁
I would have gotten into the clouds and lost him.
