True. I lived near the Nice airport in France as a kid, and a avantis would often fly over the house. The sound is quite unique compared to other planes, and they are very loud.

Because the video completely fails to display the aggressive FAR too loud sound the thing makes in the air, its obnoxious and frankly unacceptable. It is SO much more noise than all the other civils of around its size and bigger. Why does it make such a noise? Because the turbo prop exhaust is blasting straight into the pusher props, which are chopping across the trailing edge. Basic design fault, so it does not matter how fancy it looks, its a poor piece of engineering. Read the post from 64corvettedriver, etc. I'm a plane enthusiast, but there ARE limits!
@@badraven9532I'm not sure that you're correct. The blades are ("were", actually) shorter than the original design they came from due to ground clearance on takeoff. Good video of a nice aircraft. I thought it was a bit dangerous for the pilot to rush to open baggage compartment- no passenger is that important to risk a serious injury for.
Yep. It's an interesting design, but that baggage compartment location isn't safe unless the props are completely still. At even single digit rpms that blade would flatten you.

One flys over us from Biggin Hill close by. It’s beautiful, clever and extraordinarily efficient . But the NOISE is shocking, so I’m surprised it’s permitted over built up areas . Must be heading for bans from some airfields , which is so sad for such a gorgeous aircraft ...
I've always loved the look of this plane. It reminds me of Burt Rutan's original Long EZ of 1979. Just the grown up version. But I've had the opportunity see and hear these things in person and they're just unpleasantly loud. And I've never understood why. I've been around much bigger and heavier turbo props that were much quieter.
I remember, possible twenty years ago, this plane in Moscow Sheremetyevo, in winter...possible for winter tests, with a very cold situation? Greetings from Genova, town of Piaggio 180...😉
First it is a VERY bad habit to do what that guy did, because it shows he does not respect the propeller while turning, and he might forget one day while the engine is running and go back there and regret it.
I remember saying this aircraft in Flight testing. Long range, used very little fuel for its size. And I believe it had to be done by the last day of the year, and I'm not sure what year that was. But because of a landing gear issue, the post office was more than willing to certify the letter that they sent to the company they were working for that the flight test was done on December 32nd of that year.
One of these frequents the area I live in (Toronto Canada). It’s got a very distinctive higher pitch. It’s also slightly annoying lol. I don’t hear that “mosquito” sound in this clip, maybe the prop configuration is different to what I’m used to here.
Simply superb.. thanks for sharing..!! ( Why is that pilot in such a hurry.. to open that compartment near spinning blades...even slow are dangerous..what is he..some show off.. risking life and limb...)
We never see these in the states mr. Oh you can shut off it’s turbo props just like that and already be out the door? 😂 I always thought it took a little more time procedure wise for a turbo prop shutoff
If you ever heard one flying over you, you will never forget it and you can hear it coming from miles away
Yup. Had one fly over about 20 minutes ago. Knew what it was even before I could see it.

Damn, everything about this plane looks weird
I love it
I would choose this over a private jet any day; beautiful aircraft, a work of art.
This is easily the most beautiful aircraft outside the Airbus range.
What an absolutely beautiful twin 5 bladed engine flying machine.

Breathing was a problem?
Fuck, off count,no money,for bus
Can cruise up to 400 knots. Very quick for a turboprop aircraft

It's actually pretty standard, as far as I know they do that in order to reduce the stress on the tires upon landing.
