It makes my heart happy to know you have a weight lifted now….and we totally wanted (and was genuinely excited) to help with the room!! Any chance I get to do some chores in that magical space, count me in. ❤ you friend.

Okay… I know this is going to sound weird because we do not know each other, but I’m just so happy for you. I know you’ve always said “people over plants” but I think it can be so hard when you’ve lost some special plants to remember that. But it’s so true! If a plant isn’t serving you or has died away you can just move on and be happy with the plants you have. I’m just glad that you’re doing well!

My son is handicap and we bought our current home before we knew what our knew life was gonna look like. Now, 6 years later, we are moving to a new home that is better accessible for him and I have a very large collection myself so this was very inspirational for me as I move on to this new adventure in life! Thank you so much, Becca!!

Becca, I'm so proud of you for being able to recognize that hobbies do change and that it's okay! I recently had to accept this as well. Major move and new hobbies, new life things and now I don't have the capacity to manage 30+ plants. (I'm down to 10!) It can be a tough pill to swallow, but I think it is a huge step in personal growth. We all support you and love seeing your changes and plans!

I think you down sizing your wall is such a great idea. I never could see how you maintained that many plants that were so hard to reach. I think the wall will still look wonderful; and much more carefree.

I think the 2 row plant wall is a great idea. Fewer but bigger plants will feel so much more satisfying and easier to care for

Babe!! You’re doing great! This huge life change is the hardest thing to do in life but you’re doing amazing. If I was in your shoes everything in that room would be brown. You’re doing so good, please be kind to yourself ❤

hi, Becca, love your videos, you just seem to be a very nice, loving and calm, but also fun and quirky person.
For the plant wall, you could also keep all 4 strips but remove half the hooks from each one and have the pots hanging alternating on the top and bottom strip. This would also give you the option to have bigger pots, but no need to rearrange the strip itself, it sounds like a lot of work to take the strip down, fix all the holes and make new ones. You would still use the height of the room but each plant would have more room to shine.
I would probably take a picture and draw on it to get a feel for what look you like the most, I think you did that originally as well if I remember correctly.

I love this video. Thank you for sharing. I get overwhelmed with big plants or having too many plants. It’s refreshing to see a plant RUclipsr downsizing and not keeping up with everyone just because. I’ve learned that I can appreciate a plant, and not need it in my personal collection. I still like things to look esthetic.

“This phase of life” is the best self-care you can give yourself! Shortly after I got into house plants,my husband and I decided to start our family. Fast forward 4 years and 2 kids later and now plant chores are a family activity I do with my littles on Saturday mornings. They help me water and clean leaves. You may need to have a different version than before to care and be the type of mother you want but it’s temporary. Also postpartum is a bitch! Very proud of you and happy you are on the other side of it! It takes a village to support a strong mother! I am happy for you that your village showed up to help you with your plant babies while you focused and healed yourself in order to care for your human babe!! Sending all the good vibes! Super excited to see the changes in the plant room!

Thanks for sharing :). I've been going through something similar. I truly want all the plants lol, but I've had to come to terms with the fact that I can't take care of the amount of plants I have (well over 100). I think I'll just have to enjoy some plants in pictures or videos lol

My friend and I, who became plant obsessed during the pandemic have both taken a step back and minimized are collections. It can be too much when you enter a different stage of your life and there's no point in bogging yourself down with the tediousness of having a lot of plants. After a bunch of mine died during winter, I didn't replace them and have been thinking of being way more mindful when it comes to my collection so I'm not killing more plants. It feels weird to go from a super full of plants home to having a few in each room but it's been less stressful for me 😂

My collection also swings in numbers, been doing indoor plants for 10 years and this past year I've lost record numbers. I'm learning to embrace what my plant friends say: "mama aint raise no b**** plants"

It is great that you are starting to feel better! I love the plans you talked about and the change... I learned something about myself after getting into plants. If it is above my head, it won't get dealt with. LOL... I am 5'1" so that is a problem 😅 I had to stop putting plants up high. I started getting into planty decorations and displaying fun things on those higher spots. Maybe, if you feel drawn to that sort of thing, add a slim shelf where those highest plants are and put fun decor up there?

I totally understand not having the capacity to have as many plants. And I also get that dying plants can really bring you down. Something that I did with my plant wall is put really "real" looking artificial plants on the hard to reach shelves. Like the ones you found at Target last year! I've also started using window boxes and self watering pots because I can't keep up with the watering!

It's okay that your plant number has changed. It can fluctuate from day to day, week to week, month to month, and year to year. Maybe that +100 number isn't viable right now, but potentially can a year from now, and that's okay. I didn't have that many plants when my kid was born. As it taking care of my kid changed, it granted me more flexible time to care for more plants. Now that my kid it' a fourth grader, I have way more plants when my kid was a baby.

I understand downsizing for sure, family and self-health first! My choice would be to keep the wall part as-is. Remove the plants then place the 3 easiest care, lowest need plants at the top. Second row, place 4 plants, etc. I absolutely love the wall, but space them further apart and remove some. You’ll have the full effect of the ‘plant wall’ but less care.

Oh Hi Becca, I do really love when you share your plants with us all. I also do understand when a plant isn't making us happy just get rid of them, and if a plant looks like its not doing good and you want to throw it away I do that sometimes. I have been rearranging a lot of my plants and finding better places for them and they seem happier. I am so happy for you having your beautiful daughter and you seem very happy. I know I have lost some of my favorite plants and I might replace those and the ones that I have now I will just see if I care about them. Thanks so much for this really great video, I am wishing you a beautiful and blessed rest of your day, sending love and hugs, bye! 😄🥰🤗👋👍🙏💝💖💜

I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with my plants too and started selling the ones that I don’t love anymore. I’ve thrown some out too. Still need to get rid of some more but I have started feeling better about my collection.

I have cut down my plant collection a lot, but didn’t have tons. I only got plants I truly liked. If after after a while they didn’t do it for me I got rid of them and then just focus my energy on the rest.

This is what you can do for your wall: just a suggestion I have seen done by others. If you want to, you can purchase good quality artificial plants/foliage (not the obvious looking silk and plastic-y looking cheap kind), set them up in pots and hang them at the highest places. No one from the floor is going to be able to tell and you can even mingle them among blank spaces between the other real plants as fillers: this way you can keep and grow only the plants you truly love and continue to reduce your workload to your own personal do-able comfort level. You would NOT have to water, check for pests, fertilize, change positions to alter light intake seasonally, etc... The most you would have to do is take them down once a year to clean/dust them off and then put them back up where they were.
