I think expectations need to be realistic. This search for a unicorn player that is faultless and can do everything to play in the 6. Considering the ffp restrictions, no champions league etc is folly. his numbers were even better at Lisbon. And in PSG they may have the ball but they would also be more exposed on the counter as they don't work hard.
If he's not going to be perfect then why not just keep Amrabat until we find what we are looking for? Pointless spending 40-50mn on a player that doesn't tick all the boxes, especially given the fact that there are so many other positions that need filling up. We need to be smart this summer.

He was woeful vs Brighton and that was the normal standard for most of his time. It's like the sabiitzer revisionism. He was never fit. And did okay for a run around Jan/Feb. @g_od2080 Because he will cost us less money, 15mn as opposed to 50mn. By the sound of it he is not much better than Amrabat, benching for PSG which is not such great a team. We rather stay with the average player we have than go and spend so much on another average player. Like I said mate, we need to be smart this summer.
I really wanted Ugarte before he went to PSG so was very excited when we were linked with him again, especially when it's not just false news. I saw him like Mascherano for Liverpool, a destroyer in midfield. The strengths you mentioned of 4.6 successful tackles per game (68% success rate) Vs him being the 6th most dribbled past player doesn't match up, they contradict each other which I find interesting. Overall I can't lie that I'll be very much looking forward to seeing him win balls, keep the ball and pass the ball to someone who is more creative/attacking. I don't think you can ask for much more. I agree that price is important. I do still think that Onana from Everton with his physical presence and height in midfield is more suitable for United but Ugarte will be more suitable than Neves, we need a proper defensive midfielder and Ugarte is that.
I was thinking the same thing. Like I know it's RUclips but I saw him get round and tackle a lot from side or behind. Does that add to dribbled past number? He's 99th percentile in all tackle metrics and also just off for interceptions like
Agree that Onana would be a better fit next to Mainoo than Ugarte. With Licha and Mainoo in the starting 11 the CDM needs to be aerially dominant imo, therefore I think Onana is the best choice on the market for what we need.
You're looking at that all wrong, if he attempts a tackle he gets it right 68% of the time, which is decent. When you get dribbled past you are positionally at fault, you can't tackle if someone is sprinting past you or you'll get 2 yellows or a red every few games.

Nobody is expecting him to be a world beater. Just be a destroyer, break up play and give the ball to Mainoo or Neves if we sign him.

Yes, I think everyone is obsessed with finding their Rodri/Busquets nowadays. Basically a holding midfielder who is equally good with and without the ball. Hence Ten Hag's obsession with De Jong. However, if you look at Real Madrid, they had huge success with Casemiro just breaking up the play and giving the ball to Kroos next to him.

@@grocno796We had Casemiro, have Mainoo, and have Mctominay. All decent tacklers, all aggressive, all physical. This type of player doesn’t work without the Kroos/Rodri/Rice next to them cleaning up and controlling tempo. We need Joao Neves before we get another destroyer.

Football has evolved. While the defensive and destroying part is paramount for a DM, technicality matters as well. It is what it is. Forward passes are important as well, not just passing to the keeper 24/7.
@@akinyemiakintayo5530problem is those players are so few and far between. PSG already have someone young in that mould coming in from Brazil. You would have to predict young talents would become that, produce from academy and trust them or buy a superstar of which there are still very few. For now, we can do with a physical water carrier because our team severely lacks physicality now. We can evolve later like Klopp did.

Casemiro worked in his first season and was our POTY. So if we can buy a disrupter who is much younger that can fill that Casermiro role, then the balance is restored. Eriksen and Casemiro pivot replaced by Mainoo and Ugarte would be a massive upgrade.
Also we have to play compact so there isn't so much space a planet would fit in our midfield.

Based on your Explaination because at midfield we have creative like Mainoo Bruno Mount so Ugarte can be more confident for United at midfield.
Maybe he Traditional Defensive Midfielder but its important to balance that space midfield at United.
As Far as i see he very suitable however we see how he blend with mainoo bruno/mount.
Best option's to seriously look at, E.Alvarez, J.Palhinha, Ugarte, J.Neves, Kone for midfielder's, any 2 of these would be good

i can see him as an option, i know he's not flashy option like Neves or De Jong, but i can see him play if ten hag really want to play lone DMF, he have the basic, his pass acc is good so if he have the option to pass forward, he physically can do it, so i'll happy to get him if there is no better option or if we get him for low fee

He’s more of a destroyer type of CDM and we desperately need someone like that, a little bit of Roy keane in there in terms of aggression and ball winning. Bruno will occasionally drop back so him and Mainoo can do all the playmaking.
Do a loan with option to buy for somewhere between 35-45m and i think that will be a good deal
Mainoo is the only ball carrying midfielder in United right now. Think we need someone as his backup in case mainoo gets injured or goes through a poor run of form

this whole thing about is x player the missing piece to our midfield to work with bruno and mainoo is getting stupid. we need more than 3 midfielders. mainoo bruno and ugarte shouldn't be playing 60 + games next season. we sell erikson, casemiro and mctominay and bring in ugarte, amrabat and and a box to box 8 like rabiot and promote collyer along with mainoo, bruno and mount will give you all the midfield options we need

Rubbish analysis of his technical ability. His passing statistics are better than any of the defensive midfielders we are looking whist playing the sole purpose of a destroyer. He is the CDM option with both the most defensive contribution and ball retention ability. Exactly the player United should sign.

@@tmbteuclid I'm not against signing a defensive midfielder (probably a younger version of Casemiro). My response was to the claim that we lacked a disruptor for the entire season. Amrabat is a decent disruptor, but he never had a fair chance in that role until too late in the season and he was incredible in the last 3 games of the season in that role.

Look at any top team in the world. Their DM does do everything. We would be massively behind with a DM who doesn’t. Simple as.
@@oscarjenkins7505 The only DM who does "everything" is rodri. Maybe tchoumenei soon. Other then that, not even remotely. rice has trouble recieving back to goal, endo the same, caicedo not a brilliant ball winner, pahlinha technical limitations etc.
Also ugarte has progression options as well. Great carrier. and paired with kobbie, he will be fine.
@@EuanByrom Fine is not good enough. DM is the most important position on the pitch. I get your point about Rice, but I don't think everything means literally EVERYTHING. Otherwise, Rodri isn't the quickest or most physical player, so he doesn't have literally EVERYTHING either. I think it's more to do with intelligence, defense, and on the ball ability. Rice has all three in abundance. Busquets, Kroos, Mac Allister, Tchouameni, Camavinga, De Jong, Kimmich, Kante, etc, all have the same. Joao Neves is the player who fits that profile, including the style of play, where all of them are somewhat similar.
Players like Ugarte and Onana certainly don't have all of it, and don't fit the same style of play. Let alone the fact that neither of them have anywhere near the quality of the players mentioned, or likely ever will.

He is the perfect profile of player that we need he is DM you can't expect him to be creative like bruno or dribbling like maino his job is to break up play and build up pass that's all he has to we can't expect him to do all things. He is a beast 💪

"Limitations on the ball" means you have never seen a game of Ugarte at Sporting. Watch Benfica vs Sporting last year. He dribles past 4/5 players easily, and consistently.

I believe Ugarte can compliment Mainoo and Bruno provided he can adapt. We don't expect a finished product at that age. So given our budget, if he's willing to and we hit a good deal with PSG, I'd say let's get him and Amrabat in.

Once we’re in a position like PSG are in we can start looking for exactly what we need. For now while we’re dealing with the financial mess the glazers have left us in, we just need to raise the ceiling and I think Ugarte does that.

we need a player who gives mainoo the confidence to go forward and do risky passes and dribbles, prime casemiro is an obvious answer to that, it was his guarantee to be solid defensively which made modric and kroos go forward and play their natural game
in ugarte we see a similar player who can be developed into a world class level
other than ugarte i see nicolo rovella of lazio who has a similar destroyer like profile who can be a good compliment of mainoo

To be fair with players like Martinez Shaw and Dalot at the back Mainoo in midfield there is enough progressive passers in deeper possession his main responsibility would be to win the ball back and give it to the more expansive players which he can do very well he’s an upgrade on what we’ve got and he’s young so if it’s the right price then it’s not a bad idea at all
Surely ugarte on loan and rabiot for free would be incredible business considering our lack of funds completely rebuilding our midfield with quality depth for free

Luiz Enrique is a Spanish coach and of course he will search for a more technical DM. But for us, Ugarte is decent. He is a destroyer and we have got ourselves a progressor in Mainoo. We need a runner or destroyer to balance our midfield. Ugarte is physically strong is a willing runner. If we can sell Casemiro for 50 mil and recycle that money to sign Ugarte. I won't spend a 100 million on Neves, right now. That would be good business. We can't sort out everything in a single window. Ugarte is a good first step to fix our midfield.
For Man U to buy any players , they must qualify the following 😁
1. Very expensive and average
2. Injury prone
3. Political instead of a footballer
4. If really good , must be willing to sit in the bench while below average players take your place ..

For £50 mil Ugarte let’s just retain the services of Amrabat and use the spare money for a striker and CB instead, higher up the priority list. This is almost like doing a Mason Mount all over again… Priorities priorities.

Hjulmand, Onana Neves are all better than him and in an ideal world we sign we of them but Ugarte is not a bad signing. He is just not as physically dominant as an Onana or as mobile as Joao Neves.
