    Great simple guide. To those doing OC it’s a Russian silicon roulette sorta deal on what your cpu can achieve. Not all will be able to 5ghz or even more. Maybe stuck between 4.5-4.9. Never know and do incremental step ups in core and voltage. Benchmark and see if it’s stable (doesn’t crash w/blue screen then restarts).

    Load Line Calibration is not what he says here, it gets rid of voltage spikes and drops and smoothens them out so your CPU does not have any large voltage spikes that lower its lifespan. The HIGHER you set it, the LESS it gets rid of spikes, I would not personally set it that high...

    Is it possible to enhance Intel's Turbo Boost by highering the power limits? Will this result in higher clocks WITHOUT overclocking it manualy? At 5:12 you go to "CPU Power Management" - these settings are the settings I mean to get higher Turbo clocks...

    I have the same exact as you do, 8700k, Corsair h100i, asus strix z370e, but can you name all the programs you use, I couldnt hear very well, such as the one you are using to monitor the cpu, also, i want to overclock strictly for gaming, do you think its worth doing, and what a GHz should i try?

    • @calebworthy3156
      @calebworthy3156 6 лет назад

      also, i did the little, ez system tuning, is that recommended, it crashed when i did it, so im guessing i need to do it manually

    • @calebworthy3156
      @calebworthy3156 6 лет назад

      lol one more not, when you go into bios it says you have a cpu opt fan, i dont think it says that for me, just cpu fan, though i have a wtercooled, like i said corsair h100i v2

    • @whatsupbra43
      @whatsupbra43  6 лет назад

      I use hwmonitor to see temps and voltages. Prime95 26.6 version, occt, intel burn test, blender you can use to stress the cpu. I would NOT use ez tuner just go in the bios to set you overclock. And yes you should have that pwm opt

    • @calebworthy3156
      @calebworthy3156 6 лет назад

      Okay coo, my cpu cooler is plugged into the "CPU Fan" pin connector on the motherboarrd, i dont have anything else that will plug into the cpu opt?

    • @calebworthy3156
      @calebworthy3156 6 лет назад

      also, if it crashed when i push to a certain Ghz, does that mean i have to lower the Ghz or up the voltage, and byw hat incrimiate would you reccomend

    Hi. First off, thank you for this guide! I'm new to overclocking. I have 8700k with Macho rev. b air cooler and asus prime z370-a. No delid. At this point i'd like to have at least 4.7ghz clock. 4.8 if possible. My main question is: Is it ok to copy all of your settings, except the clock speed and voltages of course. If not, what should i do differently?
    I already tested this a little with 4.7ghz clock and 1.19v and one thing i noticed was, that i couldn't monitor cpu voltages in HWmonitor after the tweak. Any idea why? I did not dare to do any serious torture tests but i did a video rendering test with Davinci Resolve and got temperatures around ~75c, sometimes peaking to 80c. I switched back to optimized defaults for now, but i'd like to try again with better understanding.

    • @whatsupbra43
      @whatsupbra43  6 лет назад

      Yes every setting except for clock speed and voltage should be fine. I’m not sure why you couldn’t see voltage in hwmonitor

    • @sledgehammer1570
      @sledgehammer1570 6 лет назад

      Thank you for the answer! Should i be worried of the AVX offset being at zero? Is the voltage still adaptive or should i make it adaptive somehow after i find the suitable voltage for me?

    • @whatsupbra43
      @whatsupbra43  6 лет назад

      sledgehammer1570 at 5ghz you should need to set a AVX and no you do not want voltage at adaptive. You want steady voltage with overclocking any fluctuation in voltage and cause it to be in unstable

    • @sledgehammer1570

      I noticed that when i power down my computer completely overnight and when i start it, it boots for a second, shuts down and after couple second boots up fine by itself. just tried 5.0 @ 1.35 and crashed at Blender, Cinebench score was 1595
    now I'm trying 4.9 @ 1.350
    just scored a 1563 in Cinebench, gonna try Blender
    temps are already hitting the low 90s, high 80s
    so far it's doing better than @ 5ghz, max temp currently is 95
    damn didn't realize blender was heavy, but the bmw is almost done haha
    .... temps just hit 97, obviously gonna have to drop to 4.8 and try again
    render finished, max temp 99, gonna try 4.8@1.350
    mind you, I have a not delided 8700k, 2x8Gb 3466 but i am using NT-H1 compound
    I have a feeling 4.7 is gonna be it for me, but maybe I can get 4.8 at the temps I want, lower 80s ofcourse
    not gonna go pass 1.350 until I get this cpu delided, just saving to get Dr.Delid Pro and some metalic compoud haha
    Cinebench High 80s low 90 score 1513, gonna render the bmw now,
    already it hits high 80s, current max 93, i'm pretty confident this isn't gonna crash, cause 4.9 didn't lol
    so we're now at low 90s,
    maxed at 96, currently idle in high 40s, gonna drop to 4.7 like everyone does and mostly suggests, and see what happens there,
    running cinebench now and temps hit high 80s, score is now 1472, better than my stocks best @ 1399 so i'll take it
    as for blender, temps are in the high 80s, and low 90s, but it's stable, lol, just realized that I should have dropped volts instead of down clocking, now i'm gonna test where it didn't crash, and just lower the volts, I'll update as soon as i get what I ideally think i want lol.

    • @blankhero2658
      @blankhero2658 6 лет назад

      Just did 4.9@1.300 and my Cinebench score is 1549 and hit low 80s, looking good so far,
      Blender showed signs of crashing, temps in high 80s, max 92, gonna try 4.8@1.3 next, 1.29 rather,
      So cine got 1433 in low 80s max 84, doing blender now and still low 80s, already hitting high 80s, shows signs of crashing, guess I'm gonna drop to 4.7 @ 1.28, wanna see how that works. Btw, the render was able to finish but not acceptable.
      Gotta a score of 1491, high 70s max 83 on cinebench.
      I'm guessing blender is gonna be low 80s. Btw I have a Cooler Master ML240L RGB AIO. I'm not sure if this "signs of crashing" are normal or not, like, it's rendering the BMW right, I move my mouse until it stops, like lags, along with rendering the BMW, so, idk. The temps are in the high 80s which seems fine I guess, I can always up to volts. So after rendering, took 4:55.83, got a max of 87. Guess it's time to move on to aida, or prime, or just stress test, or gonna play a game. I'm thinking fortnite lol

    • @TheArpage
      @TheArpage 6 лет назад

      After every bios update, you will have to redo the entire OC process as some updates can be beneficial for you (less voltages needed on cpu/ram/nb etc) and some updates won't be. So perhaps you need to increase a voltage somewhere, or reduce it.

So I reapplied thermal paste and reseated the fan positions. Still climbing over 85 when running pubg... but on idle fluctuating between 35 and 60 i have never ocd what do I do to cool this thing down??..I don't know how to fix voltage or mess with any of that.. I did update the bios to the most recent one that came out on 4/20/2018 though

    • @whatsupbra43

      I’m pretty sure a custom loop wouldn’t help especially since you already have a 360m rad on the cpu. The heat from the crappy intel thermal paste under the heat spreader isn’t transferring the heat from the die efficient enough. I’m pretty sure that when you delid and go liquid metal you drop 10-20 degrees on your Aio. The intel paste was crap that’s why they Solder the IHS now but still isn’t as cool as running liquid metal on the die. Look into a delid kit they way less expensive than a custom loop plus is really not that hard to do. There isn’t any resistors on the cpu so you don’t have really worry about damaging the chip.
