The Natascha's sole benefit lies with its damage resistance. Its slow mechanic isn't properly functional due to buggy code. I just want to correct this one part of the video, since it operates under the assumption that this glitch was fixed in a prior update-and it was, but only temporarily. It was silently reverted a few hours later, on March 28th, 2018.
Thing is, i can't find for the life of me about slow totally being gone when using AD keys. In the old pre slow fix if you used AD keys you would be able to bypass the ability all together. But in the after fix it's not a total bypass but a reduction, and from what i found on the internet from its around 40% slow instead. But i can be wrong since nobody archives shadow nerfs or even talks about it.
@@Nitosa Trust me, it works exactly the same as it did prior to Blue Moon. 40% slow is what Natascha is meant to apply, but in reality, it rarely reaches that amount due to diagonal movement in general mitigating the effect. Rapidly alternating between A and D while holding W will bypass the slow altogether.
I've found that most players usually get caught off guard when they're caught out by a heavy, and probably won't be worrying about what minigun they're using until they get hit by it. The way I like to use the Natascha is with the Family Business, and use it as kind of a support weapon/portable sentry. When I'm on the move I have the FB out, and when I get engaged, if I can't kill the enemy with my shotgun and if they disengage when I duck behind a corner, I pull out the Natascha to scare them off. My playstyle as this heavy isn't to get the most kills, but to stay alive while being useful. I practice a kind of mobile defense where I fall back to a better position and whip out the Natascha. Great when you have a good team.
@@dragonfell5078 I find that players exploit the Natascha's weakness without even knowing. All you need to do is move diagonally, and most players integrate diagonal directions into their motion.

You make some good points, but to really convince me and everyone that the Natascha is that good we should unban it in comp and see how people play around it. Comp restrictions aren't the deal breaker for calling a weapon OP, sometimes they're just to prevent unfun playstyles and sometimes don't even make any sense. Also glad to hear your girlfriend's ok.
Most pros keep up with op weapons and make full use of them whenever they can i don’t think the pros are sleeping on this it’s mainly that heavy isn’t used in 6’s and no one cares what happens in 9’s
@@moonmelons its more about the fact that switching off of the generalists makes the game slow and not dynamic and instead turns it into 2 teams waiting for a fuckup from the enemy to push and thats not 5cp thats payload
They're both just too situational to be contenders for the top spot. They're both actually really good in the right scenario, but no one would advise you to run either full time.
Both great for cart heavy and defensive positions, but the beast can’t really do an offensive push unless you sacrifice your sandwich for a shotgun, and the heater uses up so much ammo that you’re pretty much tied down to the cart or a dispenser.
@Source Dasher It depends on the map in my opinion. I mean, combine the fact that players drop an ammo pack after death and good placement of normal ammo packs through out the map. If you play your cards right, it can be as minor as adapting to a new habit. Zesty Jesus even made a video where he found his damage per minute with the stock versus the huo long heater was around even. That video got me to pick up that mini gun again in what’s felt like years. Aside from it being a huge nostalgia trip, it was a fun style to adapt to. Took me out of my comfort zone as heavy, at the cost of providing “those rare high moments”.
@Source Dasher Are you telling me that just because just because the tomislav is the best, I shouldn’t be allowed to try others for fun? Are you calling the stock bad? For one, the stock and HLH were shown being near equal anyway. 10% less damage doesn’t matter at farther distances and when an enemy is up close, the fire brings that damage up way higher, which you left out. The ammo downside as I said isn’t as bad as if you know where to look for and the map has lots of normal ammo packs. Granted it’s not a good choice for maps like 2fort where ammo is practically nowhere except players; but that doesn’t make it useless on others. For another, just because one weapon is better doesn’t mean all others are bad. I myself don’t think the HLH is the best, but calling it bad is a bit ludicrous, especially considering you’re talking to someone who used it recently.
with the natacha i once almost carried my entire team in a losing fight there was 7 min left and they had just capped the last point before the winning point (pl def) but we lost since somehow our entire team died.
the Brass Beast would need the Rev up removed to be better, as for the set items, a quick fix for the steak would be making it the melee mode Dalokosh bar with max overheal but it heals like the Sandvich and leftovers are the overheal. Warriors spirit needs a bit of a overheal(less damage faster firing speed no random crits for minicrits are crits and 10HP on hit and 50HP on kill as upsides and the survivor heavy melee) to make it better. Huo Long Heater would need a mode changer that you do by pressing the item key and in the case of the HLH it switches between the fire ring and incendiary ammo, meaning you have a fire ring or shoot fire for the price of 4 more ammo per shot. Something to introduce that would be Stock minigun gets normal fire and Hollow point bullets/Bleeding hits mode that costs 4 more ammo to shoot. This makes stock make something over nothing and readily apparent in what it does. I would also make the medic have a new core class function of primaries and melees do burst healing.
I really like the burst healing idea for medic, that's sound super fitting and could make medic gameplay both more interesting and possibly more appealing to new players. Since medic is seen sometimes as a bit of a boring class to play from new players. The huo long heater for sure also needs something, not sure what but something. I think the fire ring is pretty ineffective for anything other than a noob spy filter. Also i don't think the steak needs to effect healing, i know it's niche but i love the steak in medieval mode and wouldn't want to change it in that mode for the world, i'd prefer if it just granted a speed boost without the melee restriction, but without the speed boost when revving or shooting. Good ideas in there though, great comment. :D
The Huo Long may be situational, but it's FUN AF (how it feels to play demoknight lazypurple voice). As he said in How it Feels to Play Heavy, you just live for those moments where you can say "fuck it." and jump around a corner, mowing down the entire enemy team.
I personally find the natascha's downsides not that notable and I might honestly say it's practically a straight upgrade from stock for essentially the same reason as the tomislav. It only fares worse than stock in heavy v heavy duels and the ability to punish enemies disengaging you _as a heavy_ is incredibly powerful. The tomislav only slightly punishes disengaging with the extra mobility and silent rev, but the natascha just puts your enemy in the fuckbox, an inescapable realm of unimaginable damage and indescribable pain where there is only death.
Nice vid P-Bean. I just got back into Tf2 after years and after seeing your video, took up the Natascha and have noticed I am winning a lot more than before. Thanks man.

Don't stand infront of the cart and let it push you. Use it on defense, lock down chokepoints. Gridlock the shit outta those chokepoints. Anyone who cares to come near you and your point is shredded like they pissed off a fat wolverine. I promise. The only downside is needing a shotgun (which is pretty solid) and Uber pushes will basically guarantee you're dead since you're so slow. But let's be real, chances are you're dead anyways if a competent Uber push happens

If you can get Heavy to mid (like, say, with a certain meat sandwhich and a Soldier constantly whipping you to mid), the Natascha is even viable in 5 CP, letting the Heavy just slow all of the other classes down - who are largely high mobility classes that need to be able to get in the fight quickly just to influence the flow of the match. And then you can instantly turn the game into stalling simulator 3000.
I myself prefer to use the Brass Beast on Defense and stock or Natascha on Offense (partially because I don't have the Tomislav). The Brass Beast sticks out when you're at a chokepoint or a capture point or anywhere the like (especially with a sentry), with the enemy team trying to run through only to get mowed down by the Beast's higher damage. Think something like a living Sentry. (Thanks, Bad Weapon Academy) On the other hand, stock is all-around decent, and Natascha helps slow down the enemy, which makes them easier targets for the rest of your team. I stick more towards the stock Minigun, but I find the Natascha more useful sometimes.

If you want to be a SUPER annoying heavy, pair this with the Buffalo steak sandvich and holiday punch. The Buffalo steak can make flanking SLIGHTLY easier, and the holiday punch effectively stuns enemies by forcing them to schadenfreude taunt, making them sitting ducks for your team, and your Natasha slows them down, although the mini crits the steak grants DO NOT force enemies to laugh.
I don't know all the details but she spent a few weeks in the hospital due to complications with balances of stuff in her body (yeah i know bad answer), no disease or pathogen or anything of the sort though.
the slowdown effect can be bypassed by running diagonally (although the enemy probably won't tell the difference between stock and natasha, so the effect indicator is the only one, really)
I said it was overlooked for a long time because it doesn't upfront show you how good it is with numbers on a scoreboard, and it has. the weapon was added in 2010 and has only recently within the past few years been recognized.
To be honest the brass beast isn't half bad at defense either, it's slower movement speed and spin up time is negated when your mostly going to be pre-revving and firing anyway, and on top of that the access of medics, dispensers, and teammates means you won't have to move much, and it means that if some random scout decides to flank you'll have real backup. This makes it so you basically have major resistance and a straight damage bonus especially when defending a point, and pairing it with a shotgun or the banana, one of which allows for a better source of damage while chasing, and the other allowing you to heal up more often which can get you out of a pinch supposing you run out of backup.
I stopped using the Natasha when I was shooting a pro market garden soldier and completely fucked up his flight path. Yeah I felt really bad for him, but also I wanted the generally higher dps of stock.
Personally i love playing with natascha I get a great sense of joy watching others try and run away from me but fail because they are too slow Especially over confident scouts and rocket jumping soldiers
Long ago in my TF2 days when the Natascha/Brass Beast were first given their damage resistance, I actually started running Natascha full time for a while. Reason being that back then the damage resistance was not tied to health, it was just active when spun-up (I still don't know why they changed it to be only below 50%. Natascha didn't need the resistance in the first place so I'm fine with that but the Brass Beast really benefited considering how slow it is and exploitable it is). From my perspective, the damage debuff didn't matter as much in 1v1's since I was also taking less damage, and Heavy is generally at the center of his team, so he won't be engaging in 1v1's anyway. The damage resistance just gives him way more staying power than he would have otherwise in these team fight scenarios. I don't remember how I used to perform, but I remember doing okay for the most part.
It's weird.. In videogames, I love slow, powerful characters. I gravitate towards the tanks. So when I used the Brass Beast, I was like, "Why do people complain??" I've been in worse trenches....
My personal fav, even though I recognize that it’s one of the worst options, is the brass beast. I just like melting scouts, and everyone else, but especially scouts (and spies)

another thing, the Wrangler is in no way an "underlooked" weapon, it's been recognised as OP for a long time, so this is just a shitty take
I said it was overlooked for a long time because it doesn't upfront show you how good it is with numbers on a scoreboard,
and it has.
the weapon was added in 2010 and has only recently within the past few years been recognized.
@@P-Bean fair enough
I use the heater because I like to play super aggressive and tanky as heavy, and pyros spamming scorch shot are common
I stopped using the Natasha when I was shooting a pro market garden soldier and completely fucked up his flight path. Yeah I felt really bad for him, but also I wanted the generally higher dps of stock.
Your editing is on point
Personally i love playing with natascha
I get a great sense of joy watching others try and run away from me but fail because they are too slow
Especially over confident scouts and rocket jumping soldiers
Bold of you to assume i do not get immense pleasure from seeing lime scout's slow and painful death.
I don't remember how I used to perform, but I remember doing okay for the most part.
can you make what you speak a bit louder i cant only hear it with earphones
I’ve only seen a Natasha in game twice that I can remember
Great editing and good points, subbed.
I find rushing people with the huo long heater fun while only burning them.
I was hoping that you’d be talking about the Longheater I love that thing
It's weird.. In videogames, I love slow, powerful characters. I gravitate towards the tanks. So when I used the Brass Beast, I was like, "Why do people complain??"
I've been in worse trenches....
Tomislav for offense and Natascha for defense
I use Natascha a lot, explosive jumpers and scouts got smacked hard whenever I use this.
Pyros and demoknights too. I hate playing against those classes so I use it a lot.
i love this gun sounds
I always use Stock because I have it in Australium so it just looks great imo!
I think the Natascha physical model cold be reworked by reducing the number of barrels to three and having the frontal shroud being a triangle.
My personal fav, even though I recognize that it’s one of the worst options, is the brass beast. I just like melting scouts, and everyone else, but especially scouts (and spies)
