    Do you happen to have a part number for the fuel filter? Im not finding one that says its a match on ECS Tuning

      I’ve used both of these in the past.
      Mahle KL916 or Hengst H355WK
      I’ve ordered them from FCP Euro

      @@thenotsonicecanuck thanks man. I appreciate that. I bought a 15' Q5 just over a month ago and I'm getting errors for HPFP. I'm gonna replace that as well as the cam follower and fuel filter. I had no idea about VCDS untill I saw this video so I went ahead and ordered the hexV2. Again, thank you. Very helpful

      No problem, always willing to help out and answer questions. VCDS is a lifesaver when it comes to diagnosing and repairing VW and Audi’s. There’s a ton of documentation online about how to use it and it’s a really powerful tool to have.

    Loved this and your Vcds video. I just bought a 2015 tdi q5 with 95k miles and love it. Just did oil change and fuel filter change after watching your video. Just wondering if you have done any transmission work? I see that fcp sells a transmission service kit and was wondering if I should buy it and change fluid? I don't know if my q5 has had any fluid change before and I have read a few articles that say not to change trans oil unless it's been done regularly. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

      Thanks, glad you enjoy the videos. I haven’t done any transmission work on this one. I’ve read similar things and that has just kept me away from doing it. I’m pretty sure Audi sold these as “lifetime” fluid, which to Audi is 120k miles. Currently this car now has almost 185k on it (bought it with 70k) and the transmission still shifts well so rather than risking some gunk getting knocked loose by flushing it, I’ll just let it go until it dies.

    You can after fuel filter replacement, unlock car, open door, close door and lock. This must be 5x times. I have readed on a German Comment. The fuel pump would every times load the filter.

    Newb question, but could you do a short vid on how to use the VCDS?

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yea for sure I can do that. You just want to see how to go about resetting the oil service interval after completing it?

    Is there any special tool to remove the hose from fuel filter, especially if gets stubborn and won't come out.

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  11 месяцев назад

      Not that I’m aware of. What I typically do with stuck hoses is I put a pair of pliers around them gently and try to rotate the hose. That tends to free it up and allow it to be pried off with a flat blade screwdriver. The last resort is slicing it with a razor blade and then replacing the hose.

    Have you had any issues with your Q5 TDI?I just purchased 2014 with 84k miles

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  5 месяцев назад

      Knock on wood, but no. It’s now at 175000 miles for us and never had a problem. I’ve just kept up with the regular maintenance intervals, doing the recommended services, and that’s it.

    Don't suppose you know if this is exact same procedure for the 2009 Q5?

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  Год назад +1

      There’s potential for some slight differences due to a ‘09 being pre facelift and mine being post facelift but I would think the overall process would be pretty close to the same if it’s still a 3.0L TDI.

    Can i skip the VCDS work after replacing fuel filter?

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  7 месяцев назад

      Technically yes but it puts more strain on your fuel system and ignition system if you don't prime it. Basically you'll have to sit on the key until it primes and wants to run on its own. You won't see immediate negative effects but you'll cause premature part wear and tear.

    why did the fuel filter need to be replaced?

    • @thenotsonicecanuck
      @thenotsonicecanuck  Год назад

      Just was at it's service interval. The fuel filter on the Q5 TDI's is due to be replaced every 20,000 miles, or basically every other oil change.

      @@jekutube9 sounds like it a bit overdue but if it's still running fine, that's at least a positive. If you're ever wondering what service needs to be done on your Audi (2010 and newer cars only) for any mileage range, they have an awesome tool on their website that tells you what's due at every 10k mile interval. Here's the link - maintenance.audiusa.com/#/search. just type in your VIN or put the model info in with the mileage and it'll tell you everything that should be replaced or checked for each service.

      thanks, for the info, another option for people is to use an oil extractor (there is a tube near oil filter front of engine) that is the way the dealer does it.@@thenotsonicecanuck

    Ha....man. You dont need to use computer with all this VCDS. its the common rail fuel injection system not PUMPDUSE!
    simply push start-stop button three times without hitting the break pedal.
