I do not know why so many people hate North, she had a traumatic past and she never had a reason to believe that humans are good, that's why she has a violent attitude. And even though Markus does things that she does not like, she obeys what he says. If he says hold position, she does, if he says not to kill someone, she has to accept it. It would bother me if she got violent without consulting anyone, she only does it when there is no option left that is in cases where Markus fails. In some places she may suggest violence, even if it is not necessary, but other times it would have been the most convenient option. Sometimes you can be killed for being peaceful, it does not happen to many people because maybe someone sacrifices for you. What I mean by that is that she does not think irrational all the time as many say, sometimes she has more common sense than the others. And about the relationship with Markus, I think it's okay, they are fighting together, they have shared enough experiences in the missions, enough to achieve a good friendship, and then they see the memories of the other, that is, they saw the other's life in a second, they know each other, they get along, and they are sharing difficult moments. Their relationship is therefore not rushed as some think. And also it is easier to increase your relationship if you are violent, but even being a pacifist you can get to have a loving relationship with her, and the reason is that pacifist actions only bother her a little, but not to much because more important for her is their people. What bothers her the most is that you fail or do things that hurt their cause.
Norths a great character she's definitely better than Simon and Josh who are boring characters and really bring nothing to the game. She's definitely the best female character in this game
the last game i played that make me cried was The walking dead the game first season ( ofc ya'll know what i'm talking about ) but this one.. this one is hard. losing someone close to you is sad but the sadness on this game is on another level. the marching part,the part when i decided to make Connor a deviant, Markus speech and a lot scene i can' count on here is always make me cried lol i wish i can reset my memory so i can experience this game again for the first time

Can we talk about North? Why do a lot of people hate her for no reason? (Spoilers, of course.)
She was a sex toy from the moment she was born. She clearly didn't like doing it, so that means she was basically forced to obey the whole time she was at the Eden Club. She has seen all kinds of fetishes and people always used her for god knows what. The whole time she was there, she had no one. Not even a lover like the other Tracis. She was alone, in the dark, and had nobody to rely on or to keep her sanity. One day, she decides she can't take it anymore and strangles the guy that took her home and ran away.
Markus? Markus had Carl. Yeah, what happened to Markus was horrible when Leo came that night, but he had someone before shit hit the fan.
Markus had seen humanity. North hasn't. Not even an ounce. That's why she firmly thinks that humans will never understand anything but violence.
But North as a character? She's strong and supportive to Markus. Some people say all she does is complain. How???
North supports you from the beginning to the end, always reminding you that you're the hope of your people, you're her hope. She always suggests the violent options because she was never treated like anything but a piece of plastic for their pleasure, but she never really complains and goes with what you choose regardless. Regardless of you not taking her advice, she still supports your peaceful decisions. Always supportive. Always believing in Markus.
Just because an arrow goes down, doesn't mean she has a shit personality. She is confused about your peaceful choices because she views humans as how they treated her. In the end, you help her understand that there is still humanity in there if you do the peaceful route successfully. You show her something that she never saw the moment she was created.
I just had to make this post. If you still hate North, that's fine. I just hope I changed the way you view her, even if it was little to nothing.
I think what everyone needs to take into account that these androids are still new to emotions, and have the emotional capacity of a threenager. They don't always have control over them, and how many horny teenagers think they are madly, instantly in love with their soulmate? And there, they had interest in each other from the beginning. Then they even share their past. They almost have shared everything to each other. I don't get how is it even rushed.

I wish North had some more character development and was better fleshed out, she had the potential to be liked and well-received if she would just ease up a little. I find it odd that if you went Pacifist as Markus, she still ends up romancing Markus even if everything you’ve done is on the pacifist route, a route which she clearly dislikes.

They wanted Simon to be Markus's lover if you're on the peaceful route, but they hadn't enough time and resources, I guess.
it's not like they didnt have enough something, but just look at the comment sections of videos involved Simon and you'll see: they were afraid that if there's a gay character the ratings will go down because of homophobics, but those lesbian androids are cool, fine, because apparently lesbian love is a fucking fetish for some men to get off so they dont lose anything over it. david cage's games have lesbians, but no actual gay men, because, well, he isnt so much of a great character either.

She knows not everyone is gonna agree with her views, especially the persons shes gonna like the most. She still sticks by it though because after being a sex slave she knows how heartless the human race can be. And atleast in the game they all proved her right. Anytime you attempt peace without any sort of backup plan you or a large amount of the android population get fucked for it. I think that made the group dynamic more realistic, and her and Markus’ love more poignant, that they don’t disrespect each other and stick by their povs. North stared death in the face everytime she faced it just like she expected her people and opposition to.
This point is less relevant but I literally only played this game for the first time like a week ago max and went in completely blind. I took the ups and downs not as like/dislike but more like agreement or disagreement with that specific action. I would’ve had a different opinion on this but almost every character in my storyline confirmed that through the disagreements there was still respect, and for Markus and North that I wanted to do things peacefully but the mission for the android races freedom was worth more than any moralistic decision that weighs only on me, and that lives will be spared but not at the expense of our own or especially North’s (or Alice’s either I took no risks getting her to safety and was even willing to sacrifice Kara but she made it)
I know this is a long asf comment but this game really hit different for me and Ive loved seeing people’s opinions on it. Honestly a masterpiece.

I think I dislike North because she's portraying this long running and boring trope of "making a strong willed woman only to have her forced as love interest and nothing more to her character development". Which is ironic when you think of her hating on her past forced job. Also her dialogue is only negative towards Markus if you don't choose her preferred actions and suddenly they are lovers?? The writing is so off on these parts.

I don't hate North but even i don't like her, she is just a 'meh' characters for me and when i played i saw her as the bad girlfriend you don't like but who you have to accept for your baby son Markus' volunteer. The north model, for me, is one of the heaviest in the game. I understand your anger against humans. But everything is just choices. Simon is peace. She is violence. They only exist to balance the choices. I know she does things for the thrill, but who's in control is Markus. She will understand in the end. I love North as much as I love Simon (and he deserved more prominence), and I don't think she deserves all that hatred. but ok.
Just 1 thing, simon is the neutral one, he approve every choice you made , josh is pacific, and even after doing pacific route i hate him, LIKE WTF WHY YOU THE ONE WHO GOT ME INTO THIS SHIT DIDN'T EVEN COME TO SING AT FIRST OR SAVE ME WHEN I DO THE WRONG COMBO ON THE PACIFIC REVOLUTION. For all of you that don't understand why people hate north so much, here's why - She always wants violence and never is nice, although, I get it, she has a rough past, but she needs to not be so mean. Also, it's not her fault, it's the person playing, but at the end when you either choose "sacrifice" "sing" or "kiss north" (if u unlocked it) I hate how everyone chooses "kiss north" and miss the outcome of the choice "sing". When you choose "sing" it basically tells u the whole point of the game, and if u don't u missed basically the whole point of the game!
Anyway, if North had a little more past and a little more character development, not just a love interest, I bet a lot of people would like her, besides her violent attitude. I'm sorry if some people don't agree with this, and please dont send hate, it's just my opinion, anyway thx for reading this lol
I don't like choosing sing it's too long kiss North is a lot quicker. But I don't like the peaceful protest I prefer the revolution ending for Markus the peaceful protest is boring.

Exactly right it's a game based on choices you make. North will encourage violence where Josh is more peaceful but the choice is up to the player.

Yeah I think people don't like her because she always wants violence but I don't think they understand the character. North was a sex robot living in a glass cage waiting for someone to rent her she would have been mistreated all the time and her perspective on humans are that they're violent. Marcus was different he was caring for Carl who treated him like a son so he saw a better side of humanity. He only became a deviant because of Leo pushing him around.
Like I said its a game of choices and with Marcus you have a choice of being more violent with your cause or more peaceful. And even if North pushes for violence she still believes in Marcus and stands by him.
I really like her. Though she always opts for violence, if you choose to be pacifist, she will still end up being your lover if you work hard enough with her relationship
