I’ve been a barber for 24 years. In my opinion detachable blades are much quicker, and it just seems like the cut comes out much crisper. I fade with the octane all day. And I use a zero gapped JRL 2020c to get all of the small lines out, and for detail work. Great review!! Love ur videos my man!!!!💈💈💈💪🏻💪🏻
Nice setup!
Modify the top blade and slap on some Andis purple double magnetics on there and it goes even quicker. Google Heiniger Opal . They are the newest release. Basically an upgraded Octane with two speeds. Higher torque. Higher double strokes per minute. Brushless motor technology. Way quieter too.
@@killak3648 I believe that those are dog grooming, and horse grooming clippers
@@jasonmercurio1928 What do you think Octanes are . Heiniger Saphirs
@@killak3648 Oster octanes, are not animal clippers. Oster has another line out for animals. I think you need to do some research😂😂😂 But if you wanna spend another $135 on horse clippers, Have at it!!!!✌️✌️
I fade all the time with this clipper in fact I have some videos of me doing some haircuts with it. Great clipper, it is a must when you become a busy barber.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I literally was trying to find an up to date review on the octane yesterday. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 just in time
Well here ya go!
The advantage of detachable is the cut is fast and clean I like to use it along with my lever clippers I have a client that has thick density hair if I use a plastic guard to pass his top it will pull but with detachable it won’t love the review
They definitely have their place!
Great video personality is awesome by the way, I just use detachable and a senior to be honest to blend the rest of the fade in
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Hey bro, at minute 6:13 you had a Babyliss like hair cover to cover the long hair on top while you ran the two along the side what is that hair cover/clip thingy called I really want one, but I can’t find it. I don’t know if I’m putting in the right name.
My favorite detachable. It saves a lot of time with cutting down the hair. Buy a 2 blade and a 3.5blade and it will knock all the bulk down before you start your fade in 1-2 passes. 100% worth it if you are a busy barber.
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
dont forget the OA and 1 guard for the bald fade bulk
Ok ok… i def need one. Looks like it’s cutting through butter.
Started out with 76. Now I use Andis BGR C detachable. All I use is detachable clippers. It depends where you shop for blades, I find all my metal blades about $21-$38, and Ceramic blades are $26-$32. I been wanting to purchase the Octane for awhile now.
That’s not too bad. Get the octane!
Can you do a review on the cordless 76’s please? I’m curious to see how they stack up against the Octanes.
Unfortunately not gonna pay $300 for a clipper I probably won’t use. If oster wants to send one I will 😜
@@Seancutshair I hear ya and get it. They may even be $400 soon with the way inflation is going 😂 Thanks for the response!
That clipper runs for $400. Blades are about $25-35
😵💫😵💫😵💫
Just to let everyone know. The most I spent on a blade is $20-25. I found blades all over, from eBay, Amazon, offer up & let go. So far I’ve spent maybe 200.00 on the 6 blades, oster t finisher, and 76. All corded
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Do you know where to find the 2 3/4 and 1 3/4 blade?
Octane is king in detachable world
💯💯💯
I feel you bro... the struggle is real! I had to watch Will Stamm, Ron Legend, S.Craft Blendz & RUclipsBarberAcademy (Not in any particular order) to lean the “skip blade” method & it works wonders..!!! Now, I use em like RUclipsBarberAcademy for debulking before fades or for Bald Fades like Ron Legend or Will Stamm. S.Craft is on “Chief Abbot” level w/his style too..!! Those guys are the Tru Masters I started watching almost 3yrs ago. I know there are plenty others who mastered the Detachables, so Big Shot out to the barbers who try! The cut wasn’t bad at all bro, but I know how it is when it’s not to your standards. Peace in Jesus name
Yeah I should have skipped blade
Hey Sean what is better and has more power between the octane and the supra zr2? I'm going to the supply store later today to buy one but still undecided
Supra seems to run slow I liked the octane better
I'm the third generation barber in the family. 39 year of barbering and 33 years as a instructor. I love the detachable. I still rhe old oster detachable when I cut with them. Also I have the Old BGR Detachable. So many different clippers so I'm here far advice on these detachable.❤
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oster 76
76 is the OG!
@@Seancutshair My first pair of real clippers and they lasted for 20 yrs before they kicked the bucket. Can't wait for the new ones to drop.
where can you buy a new legit one from?? i’m in the uk, they’re soo hard to find and i’m scared to buy a fake
Man honestly I don’t know!
Oster online store or Walmart!
Detachable clipper and regular clipper tutorial!
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thx u 4 sharing I'm looking for a cordless clipper
Welcome!
I also noticed you don’t know the measurement system well, a 2 blade is equal to a 2 guard comb on an adjustable. A metal 1 guard is not equal to an adjustable open taper. This is why it’s important to look at the clipper manual to ensure you’re using the clipper as intended by the manufacturer.
That’s incorrect. A 1 blade is an open clipper. 2 blade is an open one guard. Totally different than the guard system
@@Seancutshair no sir, you are wrong. The 1 blade is lever open, the 1A is a 1 guard, the 2 is a 2 guard, it’s only a few mm off. Normal 2 is like 6.3mm, 2 blade is 6mm
@@Agendaman2 absolutely correct my friend!
Hey Sean, I have the Old school 76, (not as my main clipper) (mostly for nostalgia, although she cuts smooth) When would be a good time to implement the 000 guard? Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks 🤙
You could use that to bald out before the shaver unless you have a 0000 or 00000. Honestly I don’t have much experience with detachables
Would've been nice to hear it cut and hear your opinion on it's weight and loudness..
It’s a beast out of all the detachables. Unique sound and super powerful
@@Seancutshair 🖤🖤🖤 noiiice
I use the OA and 1 metal guard they really sped up my time on cuts and ofcourse its a cleaner cut
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
i think this more of a clipper over comb clipper
Yeah for sure
nice broo doo cut on your last model, looks like a skin fade. Clean cut. And what other clipper do you use for touching up. I want to use the octane with an og Andis Masters
I’m not sure what I used in the video but currently using a stylecraft rebel
i got the octanes when they first came out & have been using them for several years now, & ill say for myself, a barber that was used to using a oster model 10 & a 76 for 30 plus years now, i love the octanes! ...i just wish the other clippers, like my fx's & my seniors, would incorporate the "quick change" battery, like ur typical milwaukee drill, that u can change out on the fly. but i will add, that in my personal opinion, it would not be my go-to for a fading clipper. i can fade much easier with a clipper that has an adjustable lever. but it is a solid machine. thanx for the video man (btw impressive job on that h/c bro, very nice!)
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Hey Heavy Chevy, I’m mainly a 76 corded guy and masters sometimes..but I’m curious have you tried the cordless 76 vs the octanes? What do you think is best?
@@marcushoward7414 honestly sir, i have not used the 76's ...i do love my octanes though... & ive had em since they first came out, so ive been puttin em thru their paces for several years now & theyve performed flawlessly, no issues, & the batteries have held up very well ...i would buy it again in a heartbeat... & not havin got my hands on a 76 yet, i can only "assume" that the 76 is an octane in a different coat of paint so to speak...?
I wanted to hear how loud the clippers are. Do the blades get hot fast? Multi speed? You didnt give any details on how the tool works. Likes and dislikes? I've had all osters, 76, outlaw, and primo. Primo is quiet, multi speed, contoured to fit the hand but is not cordless. I just dont want to buy something that gets the blade hot fast and is loud.
It’s not very loud. Honestly don’t use detachables much so didn’t really know what to look for
@@SeancutshairI was able to find a video of it in use. Its very loud . I guess I'm just used to how quiet the oster primo clippers are. If they could make a cordless with the same specs like the primo, super quiet, 3 speed, detachable blades, blades don't get hot, and contoured to fit the hand, It would sell like crazy. Hopefully in the future they make one.
Just revived my octanes they arrived with a non working charging base disappointed
That’s unfortunate. Reach out I’d imagine oster will take care of you!
Why not use clipper over comb and thinning shears 9ver comb to remove bulk and blend into top rather than guards or blade size .....
What blades would you use for the fade with clipper over comb and thinning shears over comb?
thanks for review, where can I buy this clipper from?
Fwbarbersupply.com
Your cuts are normally clean as hell, and this definitely looks more of a struggle.
I think I’d use these as a glorified bulk remover...
Absolutely! Was not stoked with the outcome 😳
its a debulking tool comes in handy for removing bulk as you fade up
Takes practice
You can use it to fade with too, it’s all technique. I have a few videos about how to fade with them only, and using plastic guards along with then Oster octane. I have 3 octanes one with 000,0A & 1
Glad I found this video, I was just about to buy these, but I’m a big fan of the lever, so I’m going to pass. Love your videos!
Glad I could help!
Nice💯
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Been using my Model 10’s for year for personal use. Glad to see more of y’all make videos on detachables.
Model 10’s are dope I had them a while back!
@@Seancutshair where did I get that black apron from?
Are you still using your detachable?
No I let one of my guys get it. Don’t use detachables enough
Yeah I just save my trimmer blades especially when babyliss wants $50 a blade I use the 00000 to bald out. Also use it for clipper over comb. I love em I had mine custom painted by B Clark customs he killed it he made an Oster metal badge and it’s sick. I love mine tho. And yeah it creates hard lines cause it cuts so clean. That’s why I primarily just use it with the 00000 to bald and clipper over comb. They are just a niche clipper for me.
That’s dope 💪🏻
I just ordered a new blade for my babyliss on ali express. Cost me 13.29
you can't knock that bottom line out because your missing the 4X0 blade bruh. A lot of people like to skip that blade, but it's the difference in knocking out that bottom line!
Yeah that’s my issue too many dang blades and too expensive!
@@Seancutshair I’m lol, facts!
45 DEGREE ANGLE WILL ERASE THE BOTTOM LINE
Hi, I like the clipper, I have a question, are the blades calibrated or left as they come?
Left as they come
I think the problem is you’re supposed to use a pair of detachable blade clippers to set in guidlines and a lever clipper to blend them.
No people that fade only with detachables do it all with them. Just not my forte
@@Seancutshair ya same. I like it for debunking and guidelines though as the guidelines come out a bit cleaner.
What a fuck on that clipper looks that’s done nothing I couldn’t do with my magic clip and half the fuss!
Ant suggestions for hard carry cases ? I see a lot of cheap Chinese junk on Amazon.
Haven’t ever had any hard cases
Sir you give me some hair clipper?
If only I had enough to just give them out!
Great review ❗ thanks for sharing 💯⭐👍
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
$50 guards…? wow. I usually don’t complain about prices. 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah they’re high. Too high for me
BGRC from Andis are GREAT!
Had the corded version never used the cordless
How do you grease those clippers I just bought these but don’t know how. Do your blades get hot?
I’m not sure I’m sure it’s in the manual. And yes blades get hot if they’re running too long. I try to run each at a minimum
Angel you oil them exactly the way you do clippers. If they're hot, they're guaranteed to be noisy too. You need to loosen the tension down to one to two pounds of pressure. Jam a flat screwdriver under the spring and twist up.
Hi Boss which guards fits so can I use it on this clippers many thanks
Any blades should fit this, oster or andis
@@Seancutshair thank you so much keep up the great work have a great day 🙏🙏
This clipper is not for fadeing…
👍🏻
Yea it can be used for for fading just takes practice
That's a monster
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
My boss cuts with these all day everyday and he gets so many bad reviews about his fades, idk if it’s the way they blend in to each other or what but he’s fast but his fades don’t blend together nicely. He be talking shit about all of our skills because we use like what seniors and clippers like that and we take 45 minutes to an hour for a cut and he does haircuts with these in 10 minutes
Try 359.00 for this clipper...STILL
Sheesh!
@@Seancutshair yea it's outrageous, maybe when I get as good as I they will send me some free ones to review 🤣
Blades do not cost that much, your typical blade costs about 20-30
They’re $40 plus at both our local supply stores 🤷🏻♂️
🔥🔥🔥💎
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My 00000 on the octanes seems to cut just slightly less than my trimmer (trimmer cuts shorter)so I rarely use my octanes and I was thinking about selling them but I just can't seem to convince myself to get rid of them. Used maybe 10 times max in a month and a half which was when I bought them.
I use them daily but not for the balding process. I use the blades to fade down then fade up with adjustables and detachable a
@@TheBloodGospel I might just try that.
Yeah I have my system I use and these don’t really fit but they are a dope clipper!
I will buy from you
Use 00000 for balding (quicker plus it saves your trimmers), then use foil shaver to get skin tight. Foil shaver will leave line of demarcation between 00000. Use trimmer to take out line of demarcation. Easiest and quickest method for me.
I'm able to find most of my detachable blades for around $25 each. But I love the octanes, I had no problem benching my 76 ers.
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Sheeeeesh
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You’re digging into the parietal ridge with the 3 1/2 you have to come off the scalp
I was trying to feed straight up and off but the old blade didn’t feed well
Numbers . Bro get them up . Grate work. Pal

No detachables over here brother but respect for the Vid!!!!
Doggonit
I usually pull out my lever clipper by babybliss to get that fade perfect. Different textures need that extra step.
For sure!
Love mine. Takes time to get use to
For sure!
i have these , they are really
dope , check ma videos out where i do fades with them 👌🏽 , 18yrd old and doing fades with detachables 💈💯
Dope!
Andis Supra Zr 2
Didn’t care for the Supra. Too dang heavy
andis zr is way better
I definitely have to disagree with that one
@@Seancutshair I have both and the Supra ZR2 runs about half the speed. Way less torque. Don't believe me, try to stop it with your thumb. The octane has way more torque. Torque cuts hair. These are made in Switzerland. The parent company is Heiniger. The model is Saphir. The design was released in 2008. This thing will last decades. That's why they come with a 3 year warranty. Nothing on the market comes close. Except the newest release. Called the OPAL. That thing is more powerful. Quieter. Lighter. And has 2 speeds. The speed controller will also speed when the feedback line determines it needs more power. It will also shut down to protect itself in crisis protecting the motor and battery. The Supra is actually bigger , even though it looks slimmer it's actually thicker. Making it less ergonomic. And it's heavier. By a lot. The battery life is shorter. And it's got less power. The only thing it has going for it is it's quieter. But ir's expected because it's slower. It also vibrates in your hand a lot more. The octane is smooth as butter. Literally no vibration. Andis just released the new Excel which is a smaller detachable. But slow speeds again. Defeats the purpose of having a powerful detachable. But it's very light. Which I hope the 76 follows suit. Hurry up Oster. We're tired of waiting.
oster octanes are way lighter zr are too heavy
@@bestbarbers6627 Seriously go to the gym. Because in my opinion there's not that much weight difference at all
@@darocksbarber i have both clippers. supra zrs are bottom heavy the octanes and more ergonomically balanced
