Beavers can make life a little complicated for humans, but beaver dams help recharge the water tabled and help restore /create wetland that many birds, fish, animals and plants need. beaver dams also help small stream flow all year instead of drying up in late summer.
How does a stream "flow" when it is damned? Beavers are very destructive in farmland. Also beaver ponds are stagnant and although they foster fish for awhile the warmer water on the upstream side is a breeding ground for algae which inevitably chokes oxygen out of the water. I've literally caught over 300 beavers in my lifetime. They've got their place, but a stream that runs thru a corn field isn't it.
He's so smart. He knows to put the support at the back to secure the mud. Also fascinating to see how the beaver uses his body weight to compact the structure, making it stronger.

Amazing footage. As an Australian, for years I thought beaver dams were just something from cartoons, we’ve got nothing like that down here. Well except for wombats and their incredible Opera Houses.
I once had a home inspection done because outside was always waterlogged, a beaver turned up & smiled & said you need more trees, then continued to lick his lips. I barked at him & told him to log off

Yes, let's hear it for the working beavers!

Not for nothing but I think those beavers are completely aware of the camera watching them
A couple of times they seem to react to the infra-red beam that the camera picks up on.
They don't need killing. They need understanding and protecting. And given their own supportive habitat.
Let’s chop a whole in the roof of Kevin’s house so we can watch him rebuild.
Well that's a little drastic. You know beaver dams wash out frequently on their own. This is what beavers do.
