I stopped following Queensryche after Chris Degarmo left. Later I added albums subsequent to his departure and will always enjoy that work. Am glad to know Chris had moved on in time to develop a career that could provide for his family longer than the average rock performer's typical short term success could. But when I heard the remaining band members ousted Geoff Tate, I lost all interest. Now hearing that Rockenfield isn't part of the lineup, I have no respect for what remains.
My 1st and most important influence when i started playing drums in 1992. Scott's drumming on mindcrime so signature and original! The intro to anarchy-x with the 16th notes on the hi-hat and the snare hit repetitively, ... awesome!!! Empire album as well.! Very underrated drummer
I love Scott's playing, but if you leave and don't come back for years then your basically done. This is how life works, it doesn't stop, it keeps moving forward.

It seems like he has medical issues and the rest of the guys are omitting that in interviews because there might be contractual stipulations prohibiting them from saying anything about any band member’s health.
Always loved this band. Unique and one of a kind. I worked with Jeff tates sister even. Amazing band and will always hold a special place in my heart. Seattle music scene rocked at one point!
In 1988 i saw the Original band play in A night club that only held like 400 people! ..They rehearsed Operation MindCrime set. I was 5 feet from the stage. To this day it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. They were touring opening for somebody in an arenas and then booking clubs in between arena shows. It was badass! Been a fan since 82
There is something called progression. I am a fan of Queensryche all the way from The Warning(my favorite Queensryche album!)up to now. Did we(the fans) want Queensryche to end? No. Would it be a good thing if Scott and Chris came back. Absolutely! It would be the Second Coming! Should Queensryche continue the way they are going? True fans say yes. As Freddie Mercury once sang, the show must go on. Both Geoff(in his prime) and Todd are demon vocalists. To see Michael take lead guitar duties is amazing. If you have bad periods in your life, you either lay down and die or you pick yourself up and move on.
My take is this… musicians have the right to walk away whenever they want to but at at the same time, they owe their band mates and their fans answers.
He absolutely quit, walked away, retired and abandoned Queensryche. Taking paternity leave for a new baby - who is now four years old - while not communicating during all of that time with your band mates, proves that he did exactly what he denied.
I know a guy named Mike that had backstage passes for Jerry Cartrell. It was before the show. Mike walks in and notices Chris DeGarmo. Mike proceeds to lose his shit and kept saying "Omg.. you're Chris DeGarmo!!" Then after five minutes Mike looks at Jerry and says "oh hey bro"
I think Scott Geoff and Chris should get together and make some stuff. It may never happen and I understand they could have creative differences, but it would be great to hear those legends play together again.
I'd just like to hear from this dude! Absolutely one of the most brilliant drummers in ever, such a unique sound, and his drums really speak ! I am a drummer and even for me it is hard to put into words how this man's playing is just leaps and bounds above some of the greatest of all time. He's not a really speedy drummer, not incredibly technical but technical enough to where it does not sicken you or pretentious. Each note is perfectly placed, his cymbal work is just so explosive and the inflections of each particular note are always perfectly played , time after time ! I love a lot of drummers , I really do however I do not admire nearly as many. Neil is one Scott is the only other one. Both absolute masters of more than just time , it is somehow how they are hitting these drums , the feeling that comes from them is hard for me to verbalize. This guy is an absolute treasure and I am damn, damn stunned we are not hearing anything from him. But it was great to hear from him. As long as you're doing good and you're happy doing whatever it is you're doing and no desire to get back to playing then stay the course but just know I know I am not nearely alone when I say you're dearly missed my brother ! Geoff Tate could really use him now, the clown he's got playing for him right now needs to have his head examined ! No feeling what so ever but then again look at the shoes he's tryin to fill . . . Yea but no, he's not even close, in fact , so , so so far away does Geoff or the band zero justice ! We miss you man !
_All_ the 3 last QR albums have been high quality, really well done and blending elements so it's catchy too. Todd La Torre is a force on his own. Fantastic vocals and tone, but more than that a really good drummer (could make a living on that alone), but even more than that also good at writing. Artistically the guy is a jackpot. I don't even care what the name of the band should be or not. I'd listen to them just the same. But I wouldn't have come back to QR hadn't they upped their game again thanks to Todd. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
well he left mid tour and isn't playing on the latest album. i would call that a "walk away" at the very least. when Chris left,the band went downhill fast. then Geoff got booted, and now Scott is mia. Queensryche was great while they were together, but it's time to retire the name and move on.
The verdict is a really good album! Todd Latorre is great singer and very good drummer. He did a excellent work on this album. I think Scott did couldn't cut it anymore because of family life , age and health issues. Scott is phenomenal drummer, his tasty fills and groove is second to none!
People don’t even realize to how hard it is for him to come back. With a child and with all of the memories of the original members. Queensryche is the best player of all time!

Have to disagree. Being able to sing in key and hit certain notes doesn’t make you an adequate replacement. What Geoff brought to the table is unmatched...even by Geoff himself...a shell of what he once was. It would be interesting though, if Geoff, DeGarmo, and Rockenfield got together and did something a little more contemporary rather trying to be “Queensryche”.

Todd if you listen to him hit the highs on Queen of the Reich... Sounds like a stronger version of Axls Mickey mouse voice... That said... He still sounds better than Geoff. Geoff had to tune down and he still can't sing in key. Listen to his recent live streams of him singing Empire and you'll see

For what it’s worth the band has been leaderless and Wilton and Jackson just want to play their instruments. That gives plenty of room for TLT to fill the void. Once upon a time Degarmo kept the band together and Tate was a leader also, albeit an egomaniac. But it worked, for a while. Now the problem is that the remaining two are their usual passive selves and TLT has taken over. Musically the band is what Rising West was intended to be. Sort of Maiden-inspired metal fare, with some Priest as well for good measure. Lyrically TLT tries to come off as deep and profound, but falls flat on his face. He’s clearly no Tate or Degarmo.

Michael was always as much of a lead guitarist as Chris. If anything, his solos on Mindcrime are a more difficult than Chris'.
