John Preacher was an ex-soldier of the Civil War, a yankee who moved out West to escape his violent past. A huge mob surrounded the hovel the Freemans lived in, tore them out, and put the rope on em. The minister had saved the villagers' souls, they just wanted to return the favor. But when he went to bring em their meal and found em swingin' there, something snapped in the old preacher. Now he's got the Devil in him, and he's hiding out in the wilderness, only popping in every Sunday to see a bullet through the head of one of those involved.
So, my grandpa raised me, and when he died, I replayed this song over like a 100 times, i can't explain why, cuz I don't know why, but this song helped me through some really harsh times, and for that, I thank you Jamie, I listen to this song everyday. Keeps my feelings real, keeps me sane.
