Hello Dave.. First of all I'd like to say that your work over PSG is just AMAZING. Is there a chance to get your email or something? I'd like to talk to you as personally as it gets. Thanks and congratulations
ItsDeagle -- That's really interesting, Mr. Aswell. `Sorry, but I couldn't resist. I realize that your name is actually David Hartley...and a fine name it is. Be well.
I really like this guy's voice. What boggles me is the singing in American English followed by speaking with that Brit accent. Beatles, and nearly all Brit singers are the same. If you can sing proper English, why can't you speak it?
h. lloyd -- With all due respect (and I hope that I'm not misreading your comment), the "Brits" DO speak "proper English". It is WE, in The U.S. (and other places), who have "mangled" the pronunciations of the language. Not that I have anything against the way we speak...I LIKE different accents, myself. Much like variety found in other aspects, it adds some "spice" to life. But it is The English People who speak the language properly. I do agree that it's interesting how so many British singers seem to do so with an American accent. But I think that that's got something to do with the fact that much of the music, they sing, originated, here, in The U.S. Hope things are good where you are. It's always nice to know that Others are enjoying such special things like this kind of music! Be well!
@@Newton14alan Show me in an English/British dictionary how the rules state that you pronounce an R by saying AH. Or the rule that states the T is not pronounced at all. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Why have a rule book if you aren't going to follow it? You may as well throw it out. It is verbal laziness that comes out of the UK. When Brit singers read American lyrics, they aren't imitating a US accent, that makes no sense whatsoever when you consider that they are reading the lyrics in the English they have been taught in school. In the "British Invasion" of the 60's music era, most of their music was written by them. Do you really wish to believe they wrote and sang their own music with an 'American' accent? Were all the Beatles tunes copied from American music? Please tell me how you came to that conclusion.
@@hlloyd-fs4uf -- I came to that conclusion by their (The Beatles and other British Artists) own admission. When they sing, they are "doing" an American Accent. This becomes clear when you consider the fact that plenty of English singers DO sing with an English Accent versus an American one. Why do English Artists often sing with a different accent other than their own? Probably for the same reasons that White people (with traditional "White"-sounding accents) try to sound like a Black person when they sing "The Blues". It's a way of paying homage to the original work (or TYPE of work). Do people ALWAYS do this? No, but most of the time they do. Also, dictionary entries are not relevant to the point, here, since The English Language originated and evolved in ENGLAND...not America. WE are the ones who have an unusual accent...Not THEM. In fact, we don't REALLY speak English. We speak AMERICAN (or American English at best). We refer to the "R" that you speak of as a "hard R". Who's to say that the original "R" pronunciation isn't "AH"? Why do we not pronounce the "H" in "Herbs"? Rather odd isn't it? American English took plenty of strange turns during the evolution of The U.S. Show me an English Dictionary written before The U.S. became a country. During the invasion of Whites In America, people who hailed from England, would've had a traditional English Accent. You're not suggesting that George Washington and John Adams spoke "lazily" are you? If English People started out speaking with an American-sounding accent, and, THEN, devolved into what it is today, then, perhaps, you could say that they were being "lazy". If not, then the way they are speaking, today, is the way it should be spoken. Heck, I LOVE an English Accent. Many Americans do. It's been a long time since I read it, but there's a good book, which covers much of this topic called, "The Mother Tongue: English And How It Got That Way" by Bill Bryson. It's an interesting read. Take care, and be well. P.S. -- Perhaps, when it's all said and done, I'm just wrong about all of this. If that's the case, it wouldn't be the first time. Still, it's an interesting topic, wouldn't you agree?
@@Newton14alan The English language did not originate and evolve in England, you clearly know nothing about the origins of it. "English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Anglo-Saxon settlers." Give me a source for any decent Brit artist who clearly states they " do an American accent when they sing." Clearly you just make this up as you go along, as a one minute search on the origins of English would have shown you.
@@hlloyd-fs4uf --- As a Germanic language, it wasn't really ENGLISH, yet, was it? It became English. Then, again, I guess they were speaking German wrong, and that's how it turned into English. Oh, and I don't HAVE to give you examples. Do your own research. I suggested reading, but you clearly aren't interested, because, when it comes right down to it, you're just looking for a fight. Who else gets this upset by people who speak with their own accent. Incidentally, what is your problem? Do you always become this irritable and enraged when someone disagrees with you, or when you can't understand something? Are you REALLY that bothered by English people speaking in their own accents? REALLY?? That's what drives you off the "deep end"? Hell, I even took the "high road", saying that I might be wrong, and, yet, you still had to come back with as much insulting verve as you could possibly muster. Kinda sad.
