Your lessons are some of the best on YT, I've just taken up steel and get a lot out of what you offer. It's difficult for a right-hander to get to grips inverting everything but your method makes it worth it. i like the kinetic style of learning, I've played guitar for 40 years and that's how I learned to play it, watching those who could.
Thanks a lot for this. It's exactly what I needed today, right now. You're very clear. What you did going down to the first fret is a move that's been just beyond me. Not anymore.
Awesome lesson. First thing I learned to play. Thank you!! Also...my neighbor plays, and he showed me IF you lower your B's, (which mine is set up to do), the lick at 3:05 works without moving the bar...just lower the 5th string.
@@johnnyupok he probably didn't have that change when he first recorded it...so he probably played it the way you showed it...either way sounds good...but it is a little easier to just lower the b's...seems like I heard on his old guitar he only had two knee levers. And thanks again for working these things out and taking time to do the videos.
I have a Fender 1000. The E neck I tune D-B-E-F#-G#-B-E-F#. It works pretty well for me, but I can see I have to have that high G# to do this. Now I'm scratching my head, scheming. Fenders tend to break that high G# because of their longer scale length. Well, I'll do something to make it work, even if it means tuning down a whole step. I need this sound!
Thanks for the lesson. I just found it last week and gave it a try. I just posted my one week progress on my channel ("after 4 1/2 months playing pedal steel guitar"). Its horrible I know, but im a newbie.
Great video johnnyup! Totally Mickey Adams style :) You're a great teacher. I've been playing PSG for less than 2 weeks and I can already play Together Again. Thanks! Can we do Crazy Arms next?
I'm mostly a C6 player, which works well in the swing bands I tend to play with. I know this is sort of an oddball idea but do you think it would screw up many licks if I tuned the E neck D-E-F#-G#-B-E-F#-G#? (I'm used to having all my high strings in order, from C6.) That is, if I can fix the string breakage. (I think I can. I have a roller bridge to install.)

Hey Brotha!
Thanks for the lesson... Been rackin' my brain all day on this tune until I watched your video.

That’s definitely an easier way to play it! I don’t think Tom Brumley played it that way though.

Glad they've helped Lisa! Thanks for your comment.
Good job Johnny! Thanks for sharing this one! I'm a big "Sooner" fan too, I reside over in Claremore!
