  • In this video we tear down a Chevrolet 4l60e out of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe this was a core we got last year and I wanted to make a realistic video on what these transmissions normally look like when we get our hands on them. Thank you to my girlfriend, wonderful and lovely mariana for helping me film this video. I have a 2002 Tahoe. Original transmission with over 235k on it. It shudders when shifting at low speeds. Is it time for a rebuild or? I had the transmission oil replaced about 80k ago. I doubt the filter has ever been replaced.

    • @FSPtransmissions
      @FSPtransmissions  6 месяцев назад +4

      I advise all customers who have a shudder/vibration to have it completely gone through. Something as small as bushing can be worn out and slowly but surely cause more damage. If it has 235k on it you’ve done a fantastic job on your maintenance and proper upkeep. She’s probably just getting tired.

    Why do Chrysler/Dodge/Ram automatics suck? I love Dodge but i won't buy one with a automatic. Their 728 torque-flite always seemed to be a good trans. I believe the newer ones are based on the 727 but they suck. What's up with that?

    • @FSPtransmissions
      @FSPtransmissions  6 месяцев назад +1

      The 727 and 904 are great transmissions but the 48re in the dodges are THE BEST. (Diesel) You can push a stock 48re case to 1,000 hp.
      I wouldn’t necessarily say Chrysler/Dodge suck, I would argue that upkeep and proper maintenance on the dodge models are more crucial.
      You can pour a cup of sand in a Chevy TH350 and it’ll still work (I haven’t tried but they are tough as nails) These newer drivelines won’t take that much neglect. But, if you want to hold some real hp the 48re is top dog.

      Depending on if it’s for towing or not… in my “stock” builds I go back with a freshly refaced and fresh bushing pump stator, 13V New pump slide, rotor, rings, and vanes, .500 boost valve, corvette servo, all new pwm, 3-2 downshift, shift sol. 1 & 2 , case bushing, reverse input drum bushings, manifold pressure switch, Epc, alto frictions, electronic updates, hard Sunshell, 5 pinion planetarys (towing), molded pistons, proper separator plate modifications, screens, gaskets and filters, tail and pump seal, along with the proper torque convertor.
