New to the channel and enjoy most of what you do, but from across the pond my retired partner and I are from the mind that it’s better to take things apart rather than rip them apart. One never knows what stuff is attached to. My partner and I have 154 years experience between us! 😉

I thought that was real wood floors. I don’t blame you for getting it out of the boat. You did a really good job with the floors on SP and I know you’ll do even better on this boat!

You really seem to have lucked out with that boat , its definitely what I'd call a diamond in the ruff I also have to admire your dedication to filming talking into the camera while at the same time ripping the floor up that's got to be multi tasking at its finest 😂😂

James, very impressed by all the work you’ve done on both boats. Always learning & improving things. Been watching since near the beginning. Love the mix of sloe patrol & project 58. One comment I do have is that while you’re working on stuff/demolition/install etc I do wish you’d protect your eyes/hearing/lungs more often. I’ve learned the hard way that you can injure yourself accidentally permanently in a moment. Keep well & hope the family are doing well. Cheers!

Those kitchen cabinet legs are height adjustable, James. The feet are threaded into the legs.
I think I'd leave the kitchen where it is, and put the second bedroom at the front.
You're making a lot of work for yourself, considering you are pressed for time.
Good luck, and all the best.

I have that same cupboard carousel, I LOVE it. Glad you're going to reuse the kitchen cupboards/sink/hob/stove/washer, they all look really nice, agree about the wacky countertop/hob placement? Fire hazards EVERYWHERE on this boat, they were very lucky it didn't catch, pretty scary! It's a really nice boat, though, it's going to be so much better for having been renovated!

You never cease to amaze me. You work so quickly. The washing machine looks to be in top condition. That will save you a lot with the kids and their laundry when they are visiting. Seems you should start wearing a mask when you go about removing items. Can never tell what maybe hiding with all that dust. And getting it into your lungs may not be healthy. Your doing a fantastic job and with such speed.

My god James, the speed you are working at is unbelievable, great find with the kitchen corner unit, it is so handy when you can't reach into a cupboard. So glad you are taking the ceiling down, not because I don't like it but did somebody use the fire without fitting it correctly? Really enjoying the vlogs. Can I be considered for the unused toilet, please?

Glad that Shite laminate flooring is going, more trouble than it's worth on a boat.

If it’s singing the wood, lower that wall. Or move the burners. Whatever reduces the fire hazard. Might be cheaper to lower the wall, but I have no idea what your exact ideas are for the new boat.

But eek all the fire hazards, gas pipe work,, scorched wood. Those hobs on the corner back of bench.(lethal with children moving around) Just accidents waiting to happen!

That flue hole is probably nowhere as big a job as you think.
If the ceiling is coming down anyway. Just cut back the damaged foam, which you will need to do for the welder anyway.
If the steel is bad there, then the welder can just cut back to good metal, before welding a plate in. And with a skim of filler, you'll never see it. Then a can of spray foam to seal it up again.

The wall bit that's loose doesn't have screws in it, unlike its neighbours. Looks like someone took it out at one point to access electrics behind it or something. Probably putting the screws back in will fix the wonkiness.

Why bather making inspection holes? If you don't rip out the floors, walls and ceiling - the knowledge you could have done a better job will always keep nagging you. Ripping everything out may seem like a waist - ik makes the new construction so much more easy and will take less time.

    • @phenogen8125
      @phenogen8125 Год назад

Totally concur, strip it all out and add value by doing it decently. The proximity of the skip facilitates pragmatism. The boat clearly sports bodgery at every level needing remedial work. Over plating the roof would look fine with tidy welding and could even be disguised by full roof width plate to add rigidity around the door frame area; would then look fully original intention as well. Eye protection please!!!!

  • @dingleydell3250

Sometimes it’s a good idea to step back and stop and ask the question is it worth it, if the answer is yes then cost the “repairs” and if the answer is still yes you can do a proper job otherwise walk away from the pain.

It's that crazy BSS nonsense - how can two elbows, two extra bits of bent pipe and the tap with its seal and joins, be safer than having a nice straight through piece of pipe with no joins? In the event of a problem most people would head outside to turn the gas off at source.
I think you're going to end up with a bare shell at this rate but it will be all the better for it, just sorry to see you working SO hard!
