- I have a strong feeling that Japan will lift all its border restrictions like Singapore for individual travellers very soon and boy, from Kansai, we head to Hokkaido this time to take a look at the clear blue skies! Ladies and gentleman, may we present you the Ventures 1990 Gerry McGee's Japan live version of Hakkaido Skies (cover)! Yes, it s a beautiful song and Mina says she wants to try sitting down playing this beautiful song!
If we go to Hokkaido, we must go now, as I want the Hakkaido king crab because it is in season from September to October. Than I need to eat a lot of the "Bafun Uni", which Bafun literally means "horse dung"....uni is sea urchin, not armpit hair, ok? What else, a lot of uni with rice, than whatever fresh sashimi they have...no, will skip the white chocolate factory. I don't want to drive in Hokkaido so I hope someone from our band, The Cotton Kids, will drive. I am GPS phobic but I can read a good old map and plan the routes. It is a skill, ok? Many people go to Hokkaido for skiing but I am retired from skiiing. When i skiied, snowboard wasn't even popular. I don't want to recall the bruises I had everytime i skiied. So, Hokkaido is for great food and fresh air. The winter there could be quite bitter. Wait, even if the border restrictions in Japan are lifted, when we return, we'd still have to be quanratined in a designated hotel for 7 days. Besides, air tickets are pricey these days (supply and demand), so, I will just eat the uni from Dalian for the time being and will settle for a king crab rangoon. To tell you the truth, there is no crab rangoon in Asia at all. Period. No fortune cookies too.

Ride of the song: Mercedes Benz W140 500SEL x 2
Yes, we need some big old sedans in Hokkaido. We need two of them, as the rides are long, and I don't want to be driving and only want to sit at the back. I want the long-wheel base ones of course, and 300 is underpower so at least a 500. The V12 looks actually nicer (with a different grill and the V12 emblem). But, it drinks too much gas and is too heavy. We need two of them as i don't want to be cramped with my band members cruising around in Hokkaido so it's just whoever will be driving me (maybe hire a local driver?) and just me at the back, to fully exploit the back seat, while others can be in the other identical car, or perhaps an 500SE, as I think it looks a bit tighter in terms of overall proportion. But, a few inches more legroom at the back is a few more inches. ;-))) If they are in the other car, no one will know I will be snorling during the ride (except my driver).
These two W140 sedans have to be in dual tone: glossy black with grey lower side molding panels, just like how they were when they first came out in the early 90s. Largers and chrome rims would be nice, but the stock ones are fine. I need them to be the pre-face lift models with parking assist poles rising from the corners of the back of the car, and better yet, perhaps with headlamp wipers. No clear corners for sure, as I prefer the era correct orange lenses. Mine has to have rear pinic burlwood tables. After all these years, to find an aftermarket pair cost just as much as how they would for their predecessors; curtains can be ordered nowadays but back then, they were only available in Germany and last time I checked, the manual ones were around 200 euros and power custom curtains like you would find in Rolls cost.... boy, two rear sides and the rear, fabric curtains with remote control, USD5,500. I would have to source from a Rolls Royce aftermarket specialist in Russia. Manual ones for an Arnage limo was USD25,000 (from Bentley) so these Russian bespoke curtains are comparatively reasonable. I don't really need them because the streets are wider in Sapporo, and you don't see very many people peeping inside the car at stoplight. But, it'd be nice to have them because I would ship them back to my hometown. These W140 has double pane glass windows and they are quiet. Wait, USD5,000 for curtains?! I can eat a lot of horse dung uni and king crab with that! hahaha! Maybe tinted glasses would be good enough for these stately sedans. So see you in Hokkaido!

独特なアレンジが素敵で聞き入れてしまっています。
最初に見た動画（小さなスナック）ですが、この曲が何か良いのです。
パープルシャドウズより数倍の聞きよさです。（他の曲も同様）
当然アレンジをしていると思いますが、他の曲も同じ流れのアレンジの様に
聴こえてきます。
全てのコピー曲が素晴らしく聞こえてたまりません。
2023年3月以降でのライブ活動が有りましたら聴きに行きたいです。

This sound is a famous song sung by a Japanese female singer. The repertoire I listen to in the car has increased again. I'm going to make a music CD right away and go fishing in the sea on my days off. Now is the season for sardines in Hokkaido. I went on September 10th, but I couldn't catch anything, so I want to get revenge.
I hope you will enjoy the CD and we are flattered you are making one! ;-) So Fishing sardines in Hokkaido eh? That sounds like a lot of fun. I know sardines are a bit small but we eat a lot of sardines here and they are good. We grill them and just add sea salt and a dash of lemon juice...maybe a bit of olive oil, and the ones we eat come all the way from Portugal. We eat the frozen ones or canned ones (soaked in olive oil). I can imagine how nice the fresh ones taste from Hokkaido because the water there is cold and clean. Lucky you! On your revenge, catch a lot next time you go with the CD!!! ;-)))

So the ride of the day: Mercedes Benz W140 500SEL x 2. Finally you pick a car that I have no familiarity with :) I think it would be fun to ride around in it and take a look under the hood to see what those rascally Germans brought to the market....
Thank you, Red Scorpion! I thought the W140 sedans were pretty popular in the US. I saw a lot of the footballers riding them around back in the early 90s. Almost everyone of the KC Chiefs got one. The engine last, and the electronics are not too bad comparing to the E34 from the same era. The main wiring harness needs to be replaced cos I think they used lots of environmental materials to make the parts. Other than that, I'd say it's a durable car. The bosses of the "yakuza" rode in them for sure back then in Hokkaido... hahaha! That's why we go in pair or in a convoy of 3. ;p

Amigos, hace un momento les envíe un saludo desde PERÚ, disculpen que no hablo su idioma, pero la música no tiene idiomas ni fronteras, solo una cosa, si se enteran los VENTURES, que tocan perfectamente su música los va denunciar. Jajaja, solo una broma, sigan cultivando, y que pasen de generación en generación, GRAN INTERPRETACIION, con ese toque de sentimiento y melancolía,y alegría.
Señor. Salazar, no es problema que no hables nuestro idioma. Con la música, no hay barrera en absoluto. Pero hace más de 35 años, el papá de Mina tenía que hablar mucho español porque tenía muchos amigos de América Latina. Y luego suena raro, porque somos chinos, pero Mina va a una escuela de portugués en nuestra ciudad en China, por lo que entiende bastante bien el español, ya que los dos idiomas tienen muchas similitudes. Su padre (yo) pensó que ser capaz de tocar las canciones de The Ventures "nota por nota" sería una buena manera de aprender a tocar sus canciones. Es bastante exigente, y supongo que es una buena práctica y entrenamiento.:-)))

When it comes to hokkaido the real skies, for some reason, we think of the Nordic skies u see, as we reckon the two would be quite similar: blue, clear, with fresh but cool air, unlike the ones we get here 😂 Thank you for the kind words!
