Mick won't remember this but, when he was with BAD in Manchester, in the early days of that group.. it was in a tiny club, he let my older brother sit and have dinner with the band and sat and chatted to him. My bro, Adrian, was really amazed. He always talked about it. Thanks Mick.
They just don't come any better than Mick Jones. A proper musical legend, yet so down to earth. One of my few musical heroes who I'd actually like to meet.
I had the pleasure of spending the night with him at Exit festival in Serbia, one of the coolest & nicest people i have ever met! Honestly one of the best memories i have in my life. Long life Mick Jones!
I met Mick in Shepherds Bush yesterday, a top bloke as far as I'm concerned, I could have asked him a hundred ?'s about his time with the Clash...instead we spoke about QPR & Chelsea.....and he still lives local !, nothing pretentious about Mick, a lovely guy.
I was lucky enough to meet Mick Jones outside a pub in Westbourne Grove, London one evening. He was such a lovely chap, and didn't mind spending a couple of minutes chatting to me. Top fella!
I saw The Clash in Glasgow, Scotland, back in 1978. Mick had such energy on stage. Offstage, he seems so laid back and calm that's he almost horizontal. A genuinely nice guy.
Mick Jones, not only was the inspiration for me picking a guitar up in 1978 & learning how to play (or not) but can easily be called A Living Legend - cheers Mick
I was lucky enough to meet Mick Jones when he was with Big Audio Dynamite. I was quite near the front & kept mouthing to him "Can I have your cap please?. He threw it towards me. I wasn't about to let anyone else have it. I jumped & got it. Then, after the gig, one of the bouncers were asking for riza which I just happened to have with me. I told him that he could have them if I could go backstage. He said Yes, I got the cap, met the band. Had autographs & met Mick Jones who said You got the cap then. I was absolutely amazed at how lucky I was to meet & have a chat with him & the drummer. A real special night for me that I'll never forget. 😊
💙 Thank you, Mick For taking the time. I thought that was a lovely thing you did too help Britney, Thank you Happiness,Preparedness, and love In the Grove Is my prayer From Oxfordshire
I met Mick once in Altanta behind the Roxy in a bar.. Although I am also from London he was super friendly and we chatted a bit. Such a great guy compered to a lot of other rock stars I have met over the years.
He comes across as the very type of guy you would want to have around to pass the time with on a long journey! He has an infectious warmth, approachability, interesting character and a quirky personality! He also has a personality trait that many tend to have when they reach a certain age i.e. whereupon personal possessions become very impactive on an emotional level because they act as benchmarks in time to recollect, to be sentimental and nostalgic. The nearest thing to getting into a time machine, I guess! He's a top guy, extremely endearing!
Nuclear Powered Fighter, WOW, this is what every kid needs to play with. Mick Jones Museum, definitely! People are too disconnected from everything. It’s like nothing is sentimental or meaningful in this new generations. To them everything is a click away, disposable, replaceable, out with the old, in with the homogenized! Maybe I can see a day when these old things would be cherished by young people, but really, they could not give a shit. Young people are fucked up and not in a good way!
I had a brief drunken conversation with Mick at a Gen X gig at the Roundhouse in 1978. People I met later said I would have been a legend at their school for doing that ! Funny how punk was seen by different people. Mick is a true gent and a true punk.
Need to know more about how he got involved with the Libertines. I heard he gatecrashed a rehersal with his dog and a can of beer. I can just imagine him out with the dog having a sly couple of cans from the missus and heard them playing and wanted to get involved. Wonder how many nights he stood outside listening before he decided to go in and introduce himself..... and the response, " Its that guy from the Clash" come in and have a pew. Need to know more.
I had the honour of printing the T shirts for BAD up in the Archway and occasionally selling them at gigs. Mick was always just a totally normal, nice geezer.
i love mick jones...I'm curious to know how he feels about Johnny Rotten who put down the clash and the ramones more than once? probably rotten's jealous lol
