Honestly hoping to use the drones as cargo convoys with escorts. Just want a fleet to follow me lol wonder if you can send signals via laser antenna to sync with a comms drone to update your position after jump and have several drones jump near to you... just thinking, likely to complicated :c
I think jump drives can only be activated manually, unfortunately. But there are likely mods to fix that, so maybe it's not so far fetched of an idea 😮
1) What Tristan said, jump drives require player onboard to activate 2) laser antennas only work between two fixed locations, using GPS coords Just park the drones with landing gear on your main ship, and detach/activate them after jumping.
I try to stay away from mods that change functions of the game, and certain scripts can overcome the fixed position issue, usually by setting the laser antenna position on stationary crafts and connecting that way... wouldnt be constant due to moving, but it would give a link
Something unfortunate: event controller can't really do the distance to locked target with the offensive combat ai (without some reset timer shenanigans, tldr: resetting the ai block has it immediately relock the same target) so cluster bombs are slightly harder
@@BURN7Gaming It does work but the event controller has a hard time updating itself when it has achieved a lock, although it is quite easy to fix by having 2 timers in a loop turn the EC on and off again, if that is to your tastes
It is possible, yes. Although quite complex and would take up a fair amount of space in the drone to make it all go smoothly. Especially with small drones which get destroyed easily it's probably more efficient to have them be single-launch and print a new set

Need a drone that self destructs after 5-15 min. Should be easier to print new ones off vs. docking.
I'd say just setup an event controller to let it detonate on low battery and only have it turn on when releasing the drone

probably a way to do it with event controllers. if "Ammo is below X Percentage" "Return to Carrier" Or something like that.
