Love the "powder flask" ketchup bottle! Also, I like the idea of the extra overshot card as an "under shot" card!

I just have to say that the idea of using that drill bit to deprime looks like a great way to gouge up the flash hole.

Rule of thumb on metallic hulls: 11gage over powder wads, 11 gage cushion wads. 10 gage over shot card wads. Depending on your shot charge, use only the shot cup from your favorite 12 gage plastic wads and seal the overshot wad with your favorite glue, calking compound. Set aside to let sealant cure and you're all set.

Yeah I kinda need to do a part two, I have learned a lot since this video!

Stopping the video at 6 minutes to comment, That wood drill bit is tapered and it's jamming in the hole before it can push the primer all the way out and you are damaging the hole.
@ 13 minutes, turn the brass shell upside down over and onto the shot scoop, then flip it right side up, the shot is in the shell, no funnel needed.

@@Dusty_Tucker I have a box of these and hate that the brass gets thicker as you go deeper so your 11 Gauge wad only goes so far before getting stuck, and it's way above the powder.
I also hate that you can't use normal 12 Gauge plastic wads.
Rocky Mountain Cartridge make brass hulls that use normal wads for 12 Gauge, but they start out at $70 for the 2" long hulls and up to $105 for the 3-5" long hulls per box of 10, (they make 8 lengths of hull in 12 Gauge, so not cheap but they look 1000% stronger and are thick enough so that you can used the standard plastic wads like the plastic hulls do!

For brass hulls, you use one guage larger for over powder and nitro cards/wads, and for the in between cushion wads. Most do recommend the 10 guage cards for the over shot cards. Same thing and components as what you do for muzzle loading shotguns.
Column height is adjusted with the cushion wads. One, one and one half, or two, whatever you need for your chosen payload to bring it close to the top of the hull.

Brass is $2.00 each times 25 equals $35.00.....must be Canadian math!

That drill bit is destroying the primer hole 🕳 he was talking about.
If you are gonna load these shells get the rcbs 12 gauge die set it has the decapper.
And it will fit a rcbs press.

You need to use a nitro card over the powder...not an over shot card...obviously it's used for over the shot. The nitro card is thicker and makes for a better seal which means better pressures for good velocities. By the way ...you have a hole in your ear

Now this could be shot from a regular shotgun right? Is there like a lot of fouling with the black powder I'm saying like can I shoot it from my Condor?

    • @Dusty_Tucker
      @Dusty_Tucker  3 дня назад

Yup any manual shotgun, pump, single, double! 3" chamber. Just gotta pour some hot water down the barrel afterwards follow by regular cleaning with oil 😊

You should seal your shell to make them water proof I use thin varnish or clear finger nail polish on the over shot cards

Excellent video. I was looking for this for a bit. I've had the brass hulls for a couple years but I am just starting to load them. Have you checked your velocities on the 65grains of FFFG? Do you know where I can find some more BP load data for 12 Gauge? Thanks!

dont use a wood drillbit, a depriming pin from Lee cost next to nothing, dont measure your blackpowder by volume, measure it by weight so use a cheapo ali express scale, wadd you can easely make yourself, some carton, or those things they use under beerglasses in a bar, cheap and easy

  • @josephjarrell8342

The brass hulls probably around 12-20 reloads before brass starts to fail

You didn’t crimp the case for good feeding !

    • @Dusty_Tucker

I didn't include that part because I don't have the tool, also it shortens the lifespan of the brass, I just use them for my side by side shotgun

Just explain inside diameter vs outside diameter why you need 10 ga wads....🤔
