  • Great monuments were built in the ancient city of Tiwanaku on the shores of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. The origin of these monuments has given rise to a small economy based on exaggerated claims as to who were the creators of this city. Now, archeologists struggle to understand how these stones were moved and carved by the people that would have actually lived there. A team gathers to build a boat in the traditional way and move a stone identical to the ones found in Tiwanaku. The only rule is that they may not use modern tools, just their best understanding of ancient tools and techniques. Gain a first-hand experience, standing side by side and talking with the researchers undertaking this amazing mission.

Really enjoyed this! Shows the indigenous people could and probably used those boats to move their stones! Love seeing their enthusiasm for the most of the project! Still sooo much to learn from the past.

Moderately grumpy no mention was made of prior research w/ Thor Heyerdal proving functionality of reed vessels with 2 Atlantic crossings (first sank and 2nd was a redesign), and 6-8 months sailing the Persain Gulf in a different reed craft.

I am so glad you figured out a way…and demonstrated it….that the indigenous peoples could have moved the stones. I am really put off by those who speculate about aliens, giants and floods. An easy way out…just make something up that can’t be proved. Thank you to the real archaeologists!

Surely that is the nature of speculation?
It has never been viewed as illegitimate, so long as the people doing it admit that they are speculating.
What's unreasonable about speculation, generally speaking?

Very interesting that you find how ancient people move large chunks of stones. You also need to find how they cut the hard stones (diorite) with copper tools: the didnt have diamonds or iron. For me thats the real cuestion: How they cut dose hard stones so precise.

what makes you think they (andes ppl) did NOT have pullies back in their golden age?
They had math that was more developed than europeans, had running water like the Romans, had FLUSHING TOILETS and public sanitation as well!
With what arrogancy do you say no to pullies and mechanical cranes? (just because the spaniards destroyed and desimated not only their culture but their knowledge does not give you the right to claim what they had or did not have).
They were cultivating in lake titicaca when the Europeans were eating RAW meat in caves!!

Your mistake is to think they didn’t have tools….they were way more advanced than us,used your educated brain and start with a different perspective
The Spaniards had boats, big ones, they didn’t move any stones to build churches 🙄
