Unfortunately not soon enough lol I’m working on a sled right now which hopefully that video will be out soon. And I bought another project for after the moto4 so I’ve been playing with that for a lil bit.
Where do you get your diagrams from to put them back together? I have to do the same engine now. Also, this engine was working fine and while running in second gear it just popped into "neutral" and kept running but wouldn't move, and won't downshift into actual neutral to allow the engine to start. Any idea what might have happened? I took the oil fill side off already and nothing is damaged there, shift mechanism is together and only shifting between 2-3 I think but won't go up or down from there so I think I have to pull it all apart and split the case. Uggg
I used the normal stuff on the racks and I don’t remember honestly if it flaked when I put it on or not 😅 everything on the engine was high temp. I also want to investigate and see if it was the primer that screwed me or not. It almost looks like bar aluminum where it flaked and if that’s the case then maybe the paint is good but maybe the primer didn’t adhere to the aluminum? 🤷🏻♂️
what year Moto 4 is this ? I have an 89 yfm 250 Moto 4 Im trying to restore and the previous owner stripped almost ever bolt, screw and fastener on the engine I see you have nice new ones where can I find those ?
This is an 85 and I took out the bolts and measured how long the threads were on each one of them and then got on McMaster Carr website and ordered bolt from them
hey man just curious where do you source all your parts I'm currently restoring one the first bike i ever worked on and i cant get anything local that's in good shape and everything that the stores can ship in is gonna cost me a arm and a leg. also do you have a tool list for tools everyone should have?
What type of parts do you need? I use partzilla for OEM parts (or a dealer) the bearings in the motor I just brought to Napa and had them get me new ones. Or I use eBay 🤷🏻♂️ those are my main sources for parts. And I have a rough tool list in my description (I’m gonna look now to make sure it’s there) of specialty tools I’ve gotten and I really like but as far as hand tools I think harbor freight is a really good option. Tekton has good stuff too! A lot of my stuff is Snapon or Mac from when I worked in a shop but now all my tools come from harbor freight, eBay, or Amazon.
@@ToyShopRestorations the stuff I'm mainly looking for is small specific stuff like the pieces that connects the front drums to the brake cables or like the peice for the choke that goes into the carb but even like the carb rebuild kit I couldn't get and they were gonna charge me 70$ to get it shipped in
@@joshuaadams2066 oh wow 😅 I’m not sure how they handle Canada. I’ve had to call them a few times and they’ve always been great to me. Find their number on their website and call and ask them.
@@ToyShopRestorations I needed to see the shift shaft going in. I have one I just restored and I was riding it to brake it in a little bit.. and there is rod that is right behind the flywheel case.. well that rod came out and now it i only gears down to first gear and it won't go to neutral
@@jasoncoleman476 I still have to put together a “how to rebuild a moto 4 motor” video. Let me look thru my video tonight. Maybe email me and I can send the clip tonight to get you by? Toyshop9665@gmail.com
@@ToyShopRestorations I appreciate it. I was a little bent from dealing with little issues with this buggy after working on it for 6 months here and there. I apologize. I got everything worked out for the most part. The problem I'm having is when I put the cover on over the flywheel. The clutch won't engage. If I take the cover off the clutches will engage. I know that you adjust the clutch there but I have adjusted it the way it's supposed to be and it still doesn't want to work.. I don't know if you have any advice about how to adjust the clutch.
@@jasoncoleman476 only thing I can think of is maybe you have a washer in the wrong spot? Maybe look on www.partzilla.com and find the exploded view of it and make sure everything is in the correct arrangement? Make sure that you didn’t accidentally put a washer inside the case that’s supposed to be on the outside? But you did break the nut loose and hold it and then thread the center stud in until the shifter has only a little play correct? Or if it’s too tight maybe you’ll have to back out the stud until you get free play again. I did film that part I just didn’t put it in this video.
editing is getting a lot better!
Those damn o rings get ya every time😂
It was terrible 😂
When will the next video be out on the moto 4??

Was it just the high temp paint that flaked or did the normal paint flake off too?? Id like to know as im interested in buying some

Would you rebuild my Yamaha moto4 yfm 200 engine ?? If i sent it to you. You do great work.
lol I appreciate the compliment but it would be ridiculously expensive to have me do it 😂 it’s a lot of work
