You hit the nail on the head! Geologist hammer. I would also call it a Layher/scaff hammer. I inherited a lot of my 2 grandfathers (who were born in 1915-1916) quality old tools and use them often.
I did bleed the brake system afterward. Not sure If I explained that or not, but there is a good video on RUclips by 'Work on P38' guy. I followed his instruction.

After replacing the ABS battery on a Range Rover ll p38, is there no need to bleed the brake system?..
